Really appreciate your informative videos Tucker. My goals are improved pumping in surf and longer glides in wind waves. I am on the NL and PNL wings, but I see buddies on other brands (Axis particularly) effortlessly gliding for a minute or more, I lose altitude pretty quick and have to pump or power up. So....just how much better are the RS and GT lines? Are you finding them just a bit better or is it "WOW, a next level opened up, I am never using my old wings again"?

Good question John, I do feel they are improved but maybe not night and day difference for some riders. I'd say advanced riders looking to improve their turning performance will be most stoked but the EZ line is also exceptional for new riders wanting the easiest barrier to entry. If you want endless gliding performance, I'd encourage you to size up 200cmsq or so. Perhaps the RS1300. That thing glides for days. Although, it's pretty similar to your PNL too. -Tucker

hi, i just ordered RS1000, and just ordered the RS1300. does it make sense to replace GL140 and GL180 ? plate Mast 36.5. winging downwind in small to medium waves (0,5m to 2m)

Hi Antoine, Yes, that makes sense for upgraded performance. You'll have more speed and glide from the RS wings. You'll just need to adapt to the way the RS turn. Especially on the 1300. If you are looking for a similar experience to your GL, I'd suggest the GT1000 and GT1250. - Tucker

What size tails are you running with the RS 1150? You talk about the short vs long tails but you don't say whether they're the 14.5" or the 12.5".

I'm running the 14.5-S on the RS1150. I ride the 14.5-L on the GT1400 and RS1300. -Tucker

I just got an RS1000. I’m 90kg. It is almost as lifty as my NL160… hardly any difference, even though it’s only 1000cm. I can get it going in 12kts. Match with the 14FTS it’s sooooo well balanced. Fast and stable. And very ‘breach resistant’. Such a nice foil.

Agreed Foilsleeve. Such an epic foil. - Tucker

I'm 155lbs (70kg) intermediate on 75L board and torn between getting the RS1000 and RS1150 for winging downwind. Any advice would be greatly appreciated 😊🤙

I'd say that would depend on the waves you are normally getting. If your waves are under 4-5' regularly, I'd go 1150. If over 4-5' and especially if they are longer period, powerful swell then the 1000 will be the better choice. For me at 195lbs, the 1150 is my go-to for our typical 4-6' swell and the 1000 really starts to shine in 6'+ faces. -Tucker

Youll see a lot more of this wingtip twist coming out Tucker. I posted about it in Kitforum back in May 2021 and now Gofoil and Triton are exploring it. I tweaked my own design algorithms to add it Feb 2022 this year and my first foil in a 1145 sqcm size with the progressive progressive tip twist handles like an absolute dream in the waves. I'm laughing at GoFoil though, I'm envious of them bringing it to the masses but at the same time find it hilarious that they most likely chopped the ends off their moulds, welding them on at a new angle, cleaning up the join and releasing their 2021/2022 model. It's a literal crack-up! However I can confirm from my own tests of my design with it's progressive twist that the handling improvements I'm getting will be close in the GoFoil new models. They will have a small efficiency loss in the abrupt transition of the step but it's a great step up for them and most riders.

Keep up the progression Graham, it's often the small tinkerers that figure out this stuff and the larger brands bring it to the masses. Happens in surf design all the time. I'm convinced that engineered flex in the trailing edge wingtips and possibly the fuselage could be interesting avenues for exploration as well. The hard part is the "engineered/controlled" part, takes a lot of trial and error to get it right and even then it'd probably be more limited to a certain range of rider weights. -Tucker

@@MACkiteboarding Flex for the stabiliser is easy. A section of titanium around 350mm-450mm x 12mm x 12 mm will do this.

Any sense for how the new wings work for kiting? Would love to hear a comparison of for example the GT1250 vs Moses 633.

The Smaller GT wings are amazing. The GT1050 and Ez1250 would be the most similar to the 633. -Tucker

I’m told that the GT1400 is comparable to the NL190 which is at a certain limit w/ light wind glide that still rides well in waves.
@MACkiteboarding2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the NL190 is roughly 1384cmsq. The GT1400 is a bit larger and slightly thicker so it will have a little more lift but I'd say comparable top speed and glide. It's my favorite Gofoil wing for the light/small days. -Tucker
