the way this song just keeps building and building and building almost gives me megalophobia if that makes any sense. like it feels as if this unimaginably huge object slowly approaching with no way of stopping it. 10/10

This has that Autechre thing going where it feels like it's constantly expanding in cycles that vary a little, giving it a beautiful slow progression and a pulsing, playful urgency. Love the glassy, infibite reverb too! Good stuff!
@vix_the_maned_wolf Жыл бұрын
Well that's interesting, for me it's more like all sorts of cubic shapes forming cozy felling techy structures (that in the end gets more aggressively techy and big than cozy but still with a hint of that same feeling from the beginning) also it has a very solarpunk aesthetic in it too, neat!
@BreezyBeej Жыл бұрын
I was going to say! The way the song keeps expanding, not just in the number of instruments but in the amount of auditory space they fill. The initial sounds are small, almost weak, but my the end the sound is coming from the left, right, up, down, front, and back, just everywhere. Fills the room
@Ellotus13 Жыл бұрын
I can see where both of you are coming from! I also think the use of sidechain brings a lot of heft to the party, which is a fantastic contrast pretty early on! I do vibe with the cubey vibe Vix is talking about, it's a sort of crystalline sound world but I feel there's also an impossible ornateness that makes me think in more round terms. The kick also has a like a medicine ball-like bounce to it, which I feel enforces that feeling. It all comes down to personal sensations though, cool imagery either way!

Context: jan Misali (youtuber) did a number contest, March Madness style. One of the rounds was 69 (internet sex number) vs. Belphegor's Prime (1000000000000066600000000000001). Patty said that if 69 didn't win the round, she would release one track of her upcoming album. 69 didn't win the round, and this track, a part of the now-fully-released TECHDOG, was released.

Dankpods introduced me to the concept of critical listening but I think your music is the first time I've ever felt the need to do it for a song I'd never heard before, and it's the only time I've been able to just sit and listen to an entire album. I don't know why but I just thought I'd tell you.

Patty taxxon, for me at least, is absolutely headphone music. I tried listening to her stuff in the car but some of the mixing just doesn't come across well in external audio like that

@@voidjuice Yeah I tried listening to Bocce through my phone speaker and it was a bop but it felt like half the song was missing (I guess because it was? lol) I listened to the flowers album in one sitting while reading the lyrics on bandcamp which is a level of concentration I barely ever achieve. Granted I've been finding it easier to listen to music without multitasking since I bought DT770s (my first real headphones aside from sony wh1000xm4s and they beat the hell out of those) but listening to an entire album without breaks is a new thing for me

an attempt at interpreting the song or at least the title: the title consists of the following letters: {O, C, G, D, H, E, T}. notably, these letters are all similarly shaped when capitalized, and the title seems to be transitioning from the completely curved "O" and "C" to the completely angular "H", "E", and "T". This seems to mirror the progression of sounds in the song, which start off as very sine-y tones (sounding "round" or "smooth"), and gradually transition to richer tones (sounding "angular" or "sharp") over the course of the song. notably, there is a very noticeable change at around 2:40, where the percussion become this collection of glitchy clicks and pops and there is a sound with a huge reverb tail. the fact that the letters in the title aren't linear (as in, the title isn't just something like "OCGDHET") might reflect how the transition in the song itself is not entirely linear--the early plucked sounds come back near 5:00, and throughout the song, later "angular" sounds peak into the beginning. instead you have this back and forth, which the title reflects. also, the fact that some of the letters repeat at regular intervals might be mimicking the song's use of echo? it could also be the case that the title is actually grouped into two characters (GO -> GC -> GO -> HO, CE -> CH -> DH, ET ->ED -> TD -> T?, with each group representing a set of instruments? it would approximately line up with each major section of the song. notably it seems like each group of two only changes one letter at a time) EDIT: i guess a more accurate description of "H" "E" and "T" is "boxy" rather than "angular"? the huge reverb in the second half might be playing on this--large square rooms with huge reverbs mirror the square nature of H, E, and T. presumably "angular" is better represented by "X", "Z", "N" etc.

@nefola Жыл бұрын
ok so the fun this is how do you define percussion in this song? is it the little chirps, the noise was once a marimba like sound? Does standard rhythm holding even apply anymore? do we just let the underdone dictate the rhythm when the chirps and click are gone? anything short of a void for the visuals would be a betrayal to perceiver's interpretation. An official release forever binds the song to cover art. Will it be the same work of true audio rapture then? there is a joy in how little has been said about this song. only tittle, artist, and its own contents. and then you hear it. all but the first shift in soundscape are subtle. during the war arc of naruto there is one major shift and then everything slides around, fluid and bold from there. Naruto leaves the island. She leaves the cave and waterfall a new woman. and then she hears the world suffering. all of her friends fighting for her. she heads to every battlefield. all of them. fights all enemies. each change in who and how you need to beat them flowing from the last. and then suddenly the entire shinobi alliance, madara and aranea are there ready to fight with her and kakashi. and you know how they got there. but there was no hard shift from all of the victories her allies had won prior. you dont even remeber her dad showing up that much later. and then you hear it. its a particularly stressful week of collage. A robot needs to render a digital effigy of a device. She pets the kitty and tells her to take a rest. She puts on this song. She works on this effigy. Unyielding, hours pass. The song still plays. She needs this song and that task. her cat returns. ears cleaned with warm glass and soft water. her cat thanks her. and then you hear it. its 6 am the youtube channel Puppyhelic Triangle as posted a new video. The youtube app on the phone plays the video as directed by the link in the notification.
