At 7:42 a feeling of the music just needing to occupy a certain amount of time, each instrument marking that passage out, not to do anything but to simply be. Here the 4's and 8's of time let the listener join in on a grid of being, with the energy of anticipation that brings. That taut being over the time grid makes music a distinctive art to experience.

Listened to this band a LOT but until now I never saw these guys perform. Simply amazed at how they get the sounds that I am familiar with out of these acoustic instruments. Very creative and a joy to behold! Thank very much NPR and GoGo Penguin!

Check out their live in-studio performance from early 2024 entitled "From the North." It's even better.

@@starlingdavidhunter3Thanks for the tip! I find that the music gives me the impression of being something like a kind of Morse code of music, beamed from a civilisation light-years away that has transcended division and that lives in joy. Tme message? Go within, find the ever present joy! Go within! Go within!

It literally says in the description their sound guy was operating the effects
@lawlesswatson56536 жыл бұрын
Very true... However, the sound tech applied reverb, eq, leveling, etc. But if you watch the keyboard player's hands you can clearly see that he is doing the repeated chords' sounds himself.
