People raise kids without research easily enough. Some are crap at it . No amount of research will help some people. Especially research done on pet tube. Nobody agrees and everyone becomes a herpetologist after graduating from a corn snake to a royal python. Healthy is healthy regardless of aesthetics.

apparently there are food-safe soaps you can use to clean salads, but I've never heard of any non-chemical-based soap that makes bubbles, and even if there is - "food-safe" doesn't mean it's good for amphibians

@@armedlorax7301 dawn may be animal friendly, but as far as I'm aware it's still got chemicals in it - chemicals that *probably* won't burn an animal's skin, but I'm sure it would cause some bit of harm if they drank the water they were bathing in (which is pretty much what amphibians do)

We got him surgery and he’s doing fine now. I can tell good advice from bad though because now I’m not a clueless beginner

I went to college for Animal Care but couldn't go into vet tech because I can't do puss, maggots or blood (I pass out from the latter). It's unfortunate, but I stick to animals with small injuries or just taking care of ones with none at all. Good on you for keeping with that job (ticks, flea infestation I can't handle that either. I get itchy just thinking about it).

I used to volunteer at a vet clinic near Puyallup WA. A lady brought in her Tom cat because he had been missing for a month and when he came home had an enormous wound to his back right leg. It was so foul you could smell it from across the room. Maggots, pus and rot so disgusting. I helped the tech and vet sterilize the surgery room and set up supplies and in return I got to watch. That cat left without his balls (per owners request fir a nueter) and 4 drain tube. His leg looked like patchwork and I was so impressed by how easy the vet made it look! BTW cleaning that wound looked narly. Cat definitely felt that when he woke up.

My partner and I got a bunny recently, and I gotta say, it's every bit of work we'd expected and then some. We love caring after her but it's only after thinking about the worst case scenario and getting everything else ready that we acquired her, and I think it's basic ethical practice to be well-versed in pet care beforehand, running a realistic simulation of having a pet given your current lifestyle, and prepare extensively for what may change.

I grew up in a household with parents obsessed with cleanliness and minimalism. I still managed to get fleas after a hiking trip, it happens. Also I hated looking at these too, watching this was mistake, grateful for the blur but I can't stand that last one.

I found a frog in our sewer well and we had no clue he was in the well, I’m shocked he lived for so long with my grandmother throwing bleach and fabric softener and soap in the well to make it not smell as bad (she didn’t know that the frog was in there at the time she was dumped products down the well) I did everything I could to get the frog out of the well, he out of the well now and I put him in the pond by a Church, he was so thin, not sure if he’s still alive but hopefully he is alive and doesn’t end up in another sewer well😅😅🥲🥲😂😂😕

I've put lettuce and bok choy from my garden in slightly soapy water for a few minutes to get aphids off because you can't rinse them off with plain water (1 drop of dish soap in a large bowl of water) and it tastes fine. But they probably got their lettuce from a grocery store so they were soaking both the frog and the lettuce for no reason...

I’m an Orthodox Jew and we use produce soap to remove insects since insects aren’t kosher. Some things can be checked for bugs but things like lettuce it’s time consuming to do a thorough search, so letting it sit in the soap and then checking the (well rinsed) leaves is way easier. But I’m not seeing the logic of putting your pet in the same liquid you’re using to kill something else.

@@aldranzam3456 Wetting your hands should be sufficient when handling wild frogs as you're likely the only person to handle them in their entire lifespan. It would still be ideal to wear gloves though. While keeping pet frogs it is preferable to wear gloves because you'd be repeatedly exposing them to the oils on yours hands and any soaps/lotions/etc whenever you pick them up and can cause damage to their slime coat.

That was harsh to even watch you do this topic. Any animal should be treated humanely. And the general public doesn't want to see ALL the different ways an animal can die. I don't care to own a frog, but I have a friend that does. I see them kept in a tank full of water. She insists that is the way they thrive. I thought frogs like to get out of the water occasionally like turtles do, but I don't know for sure, so I keep my mouth shut.

If you wash your vegetables you should use salt not soap LOL It kills most things on it and it's food safe and doesn't really "stain" the food with its taste, it can, but generally you can rinse salt water right off most fruits and veggies especially if the foods aren't cut open beforehand, if it does a bit it doesn't completely ruin the food

Toads are a type of frog, so the first one is a frog. You can look it up if you want. It's like how tortoises are actually a type of turtle. Or gorillas are apes.
