Can u please get a pyxie frog? That would be awesome for u to get a big giant male they can get up to 10 inches. Minimum is 40 gallons with a half land half water setup. Eco earth is the ideal substrate but you could also use 100 percent organic soil with no added minerals chemicals dyes etc. U should refrain from live plants since they have a tendency to destroy them almost immediately. The minimum is 40 gallons but bigger is always better.

Sooo.... a frog laid eggs in a deep mud puddle in my driveway last summer. The puddle dries out between rains and we drive through it and I didn’t want the momma frog to lose all her babies so I collected as many of the tadpoles I could and moved them to a bucket of rain water. Well more frogs laid in the puddle and I eventually had 2 buckets FULL of tadpoles. I fed them canned spinach and boiled egg yolk. Amazingly a ton of them lived through the tadpole stage and hopped away. I can definitely tell a difference this summer. There are so many more frogs singing from the trees this year
@kyleekylee28155 жыл бұрын
Same here but there were a whole bunch of tadpoles in our pool, and when they got legs and were able to jump, we would take them and put them in some sun so they dont bake. That year we had a lot of frogs and a lot of snakes. Since im a snake person, i would pick up the snakes that would get in the pool and one that i picked up, threw up frogs as i was holding him. So i felt bad for ruining hid lunch. I put him by a lot of frogs that we just saved so he could eat some more. Now im excited for this year because there are probably going to be a lot more frogs.

I ended up with an American Toad years ago when I was working at a pet store- the guy didn't want "him" anymore- never found out the gender. Being in a pet store, and having had reptile experience, I grabbed one of our books on toads and bought what I needed that I didn't have. This was pre-high speed internet, and what was around was dial-up speed message boards and forums. I always found it funny toads looked like they were little "muscle men", so I named him Hercules. Had him for a pretty long time, no idea how old he was when I got em, but he was pretty much full size. He was definitely one of my favorite pets, between the "look" on his face, and me seeing a serious attitude on him for a little guy. There's a reason I considered naming him Logan instead, but at the time since I wasn't sure if I would keep him, I wanted to hold back the name Logan since I really don't like "reusing" names. Hercules was definitely worthy of the Logan name, but chanting "Her-cu-les! Her-cu-les!" with my friends when he would climb up on something and sit there like he conquered the world was way too much fun when I realized I was keeping him... lol

I remember when I was twelve, I was at my grandparents house around some wooded areas in Michigan; they had a really big yard. Ever since I was really little, around early summer I would always go look for toads in their backyard. One day, my parents took me to visit, and my grandfather told me he ran into a couple of lil' toadies while doing yard work. My dad is a big skeptic, so he made a bet with me; five dollars if i could catch a toad before dinner. I set out on my little hunt, and a few minutes later i came back with a small lil' toad. My dad said I cheated and refused to give me five dollars, and said if i could catch another with him watching, he'd cough up twenty dollars. We went around the garage, and I almost immediately found another one; a lil' pudgy beast of a toad. Lo' and behold I made 20 bucks that day.

I used to keep 2 wild-caught toads for a year until I released them back into the wild. I would always hand feed them a little bit of their meal and watch them chase after and eat the rest of it. I would always take out my favorite toad a lot, and she quickly got used to me and stopped running away and then she even enjoyed being held and even rubbed up against my hand as a cat would. They used to follow me as I walked around the tank when they knew I was about to feed them. I miss them, but I thought they would want to be back in the wild with other toads.
