Congrats 🎉🎊🍾 on the House! Sorry about Heather and your loss. This life is so short! As for the A/C in the garage... the real issue is insulting the garage door and the attic space above the garage. Typically the space above the garage is not insulated. I would look at a LG mini-split or a Mitsubishi, GREE is also a good choice. The reason I say “mini-split” is because they are quite. When you are filming you can set the fans to low speed and still have sufficient cooling and heating (yes they have heat pumps). I work in the HVAC industry and I have a 24k BTU mini split with 2-12k BTU fan cool units in my 2 car garage. Insulation is the key! If you have any questions please let me know. Also, Check all the websites for the manufacturers... see what’s out there. A informed buyer is a SMART buyer.

RE: A/C in the Garage - Chase, look into portable A/Cs. You can find them at Home Depot or Lowe's. They sit on casters, and there's a vent hose that fits into a window slat that is provided to exhaust the hot air. When you're done with it for the season, you stow them away. They're rated by BTUs and how many square feet they're designed to cool.

if your new house has ducting in the crawlspace underneath or in the attic you can tap into your central ac and heat and either run a vent through the wall (for a crawlspace) or the ceiling (for the attic) off of your main AC, although as someone noted you need to make sure the space above your garage is insulated, and it would also be helpful to throw some insulation in the walls. the other option is to cut a hole in the wall (since you own the house) and put a window unit in the wall.

Regarding AC in your new garage. You can go a few ways with it, 1. Wall unit which will require either cutting a whole in you garage wall, or if you garage has a window you can place one there. The second one require you splicing into your existing ductwork and running a duct or two into your garage. If you are looking to doing in a less expensive way go the route of the window/wall unit.

Best wishes for you and Heather. You may consider a mini split a/c system for your new garages, they are easy to install and works excellent, plus they will work individually from the house center a/c.

Congrats on the new house!! As far as AC, they make mini units, where you still have a small air handler outside and a unit to blow air onthe inside...this is by FAR the best garage system vice doing a window unit or anything like that. Also, you need an insulated garage door...dont bather with the insulation kits they make for existing garage door, the best way is a factory insulated door...they are more expensive, but worth EVERY dime.

Chase: you want AC in the next garage Get your sqft of the space you want to cool, and grab yourself a ductless mini split that is the appropriate size for the space you want to cool. (Saves you money on not spending more on a unit you don't need.) And it makes the least amount of noise to make your filming easier. Not to mention it is one of the easiest things to install. Don't even need a toque wrench.
@jeremi28206 жыл бұрын
In Iraq we had the wall mounted a/c units that all you had to do is drill a couple holes in the wall for the tubes for the outside part. The most expensive one I have seen is 10k but the ones for the garage are about 3k to 4K for a 500 to 600 sqft space. They are amazing
@havocentertainment31956 жыл бұрын
Sorry for Heather's family lose. Congratz on the new house bud. We will all be here waiting for the next video we ain't going no where. Oh as far as the A/C thing is concerned I live in SE Texas so I know what you mean by hot summers. depending on the size of the garage just get a large enough window unit and measure the unit itself and cut a whole in the exterior wall, then beef up the opening with some 2x4's. Once the that is done fit the unit in the hole and then use calk or expanding foam to seal the edges of the unit. BAM A/C in the garage.
@ficusSlayer6 жыл бұрын
An in wall A/C unit could be an option. They are very similar to a window unit, without the restriction of having to have a window for it. The downside is having to put a hole in your wall, inside and out. The upside is staying cool. Good luck with the move my man!

A.c. in the garage can be fairly straight forward. A "portable" unit is the best, if there's a window in the garage you can put the vent tube there, or you can make a vent in the wall for fairly cheap using a Roto hammer and basic parts from Lowe's

First congratulations on closing on the new house. I know the nightmares that go with that. The way I air-conditioned my garage was to buy 2 Gree portable 18500 BTU units. Made a manifold to drain the condensation out. The real trick is to insulate the garage door. Several ways to do it depending on your style of door. I also installed a smaller door to get the bikes in and out so not lose my AC buy opening the large door. Also being portable units you can move one closer to your area you are working. Just don't forget to plug the drain line. It has a small tank inside. This setup works in Dallas Texas and it's hot here.
@drirun6 жыл бұрын
If you don't mind the look, ductless A/C units are pretty good. They are not cheap and should be professionally installed, so quite a bit more than some of the portable units.

One thing to remember is bigger isn't better with a/c oversized unit will stop and start more often, startup draws more power driving up electrical bill. Example 20x20 typical 2 car garage, will require a 8-10k a/c. Higher btu's needed if using a portable unit than using a window/ though wall unit. With a garage a through wall unit will give most placement options. $5-600 dollars should get you set up based on thehomedepot.com pricing for Atlanta. Ceiling fan is also worth investing in, (up for cooling down for heating.)

i'm an electrician so i can tell you an AC doesn't have to be hard. if there's a window in your garage you could just mount a window unit and plug it in, or you could run ducting from the main vent line to the garage which is pretty invasive and should be done by a professional. Also you could go industrial and get a fan coil unit but that's going to require a cooling water line but it will also take up the most space.

Most stressful thing I ever did was buy a home. Constantly being outbid, being passed over by owners because I was using a VA loan, which adds extra stipulations to the closing process and sellers responsibilities. My wife and I lost out on 7 homes before we found ours. Then comes the bills, HOA fees, and TAXES etc. But I love it. I can do what I want and not have to answer to a landlord or worry about moving anymore.

@chaseontwowheels for the ac issue, you can either have someone route an ac vent from the existing ac system or have then place a hole in a wall to run a window unit. I would make sure to use a professional for this one. I'm all for do it yourself, but this is something you want done right to prevent leaking or structure issues.

Congratulations on the house! Buying a house in general is a huge pain in the ass! I never want to do it again! You can get one of the through wall units for the garage. Just make sure the garage is well insulated including the doors or else it's a waste. The unit will constantly run and that will increase your electric bill and shorten the lifespan of the unit. Might as well install heat too if you are going all out.

Congrats on the new house! One of the portable a/c units is cheapest. They sell them everywhere, Best Buy, Lowes, etc. A "mini-split" a/c may work better, but is more $$ and is hard wired in as well, commonly with 240 volts (like your oven and dryer if it's electric and not gas). Finally, you should have insulated garage door(s), especially if they face to the south or east. Don't underestimate the value of a big fan, too! Those kinds of projects are definitely video worthy, IMHO.
