I think it is safe to say that if you are a hunter, you love seeing big bucks on trail cameras! Whether they are chasing after a hot doe, hitting a scrape you set, or coming out of the shadows at night, the photos and videos from trail cameras can get you excited at any point in the day. With the dawn of cell cams, hunters can get all that information in real time, especially on public ground. The real question is, how would that effect hunting if trail cameras were banned? Today we look to answer that questions with a discussion about a few of the new laws that are looking to be passed in Iowa. One of those laws being, hunters would only be allowed to leave tree stands on public ground over night. So that means no blinds and no trail cameras! We break down our opinions on the laws and how that could effect not only public land hunting but private pieces if you were not allowed to set cameras out. We would be diving back to the 1970s!

Good podcast once again. Congrats Warren! Do trail cams help you get deer? Absolutely they do! They are some of the best allies you can have for deer hunting. That being said, I think it’s ridiculous that any state would get rid of trail cams. If they are saying cameras help people harvest deer too much, then they might as well get rid of high power rifles, or scopes that can see in low light, range finders, binos, and on and on! All of these items help you increase your odds of getting a deer. And like Warren stated, deer are a resource to the state aka the states money and that’s what it boils down to. The state wants their money. And Easton is right about public land being ruined now and I hate to say it but social media is the reason for that. Social media has made public land look like private land and now everybody and their momma hunts public land

We appreciate it and the wedding was a big hit! When you look at it, there are a lot of thing that help hunters be able to harvest animals quicker. With what you said, yes the animals are protected by state laws so the implement what they see is best for the populations. Public land has also become a fierce place for competition and can definitely feel the heat of these laws just a bit more with the amount of guys battling for spots to hunt.

Congratulations Warren! Another great episode with an interesting subject. I have often wondered how long it would take for this to become an issue since there are so many cellular trail camera companies out there. I think like you guys said the deer and herds may get bigger since people will have to go to their properties to check cameras and to hunt. Keep up the great work!

We appreciate it man, the wedding was a big hit! This was a fun topic to discuss and definitely had a little flare to it. With the amount of trail camera companies producing products and coming out with new ideas, it will be hard for states to completely ban them. It can definitely show some major impacts in the deer population, but only time will tell how it will truly be effected.

I think bigger issue with leaving the gear out stands blinds etc... how many blinds and stands do you see left out over years and in turn stands growing into the trees killing them altering. Some people just trash a resource it's not just the animal the land is a resource. Speaking on public land. It's a shame people leave trash at these places.
@RaisedHuntingPodcast

That definitely is a major issue on public land. It is tough to see such good pieces of public ground get trashed, and not taken care of by the hunters.

My first time listening to your podcast. Great podcast. I think trail cameras are the least of our worries as hunters. My opinion is that drones and the AI in hunting apps is far worse. Love that you guys do this as a family. Will be watching from now on.

Great podcast! Very controversial topic because this could cover a lot of things that could or would be unfair for the animal. Congrats on your wedding Warren! Wish you the best with your marriage! Kidnap a woman, interesting fact, don’t want to be kissing all those people, no thanks! And I just got back from Africa and those elephants are huge!

tree stands left out all season goes back to the 80's before pop up blinds. in the law it says tree stands. in the 80's & 90's got a tag every year, now draw a tag may be every 4 or 5 years. your lack of older age class bucks has to do with out of staters killing 3 year old deer . by the way david i know you have but have the boys ever killed a deer with out the use of a trail cam. my first trail cam was a trail timer with a string for a trigger 30 years ago🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We can confirm after asking them, the boys have shot deer that we have not had trail camera pictures of. It's a fun time when you get to see a buck you don't know come running through the woods!
