Thanks, over time we have perfected our technique. The first time we tried it we used ice tongs from the kitchen and it was a disaster - couldn't get any grip on the crabs!

Nice, I used the same technique off a dock on Long Island, New York. That was over 50 years ago when I was a young teen.

That's awesome. I see lots of people use the small box type traps, but they would take up more space than we have and these ring traps work.

What kind of rope do you attach to the trap?

At first, we tried a cotton type clothesline, but that would hold the water after we were done crabbing. The paracord is really strong too. We currently use paracord and that has worked the best.

It looks like a fun activity. I have seen people using hot dogs instead of raw chicken, it seems more economical.
