Hello. I am 19 and I too started getting grey hair at an early age. My Friends would point and laugh at me and over the years it made me feel so insecure. I wouldn't go out without a cap or just cover my face because it makes me feel ugly. I would color it sometimes but it would just grow back up. I am trying to accept myself with it but it's hard. I feel like no one's gonna want me if I have grey hair. Thanks for sharing your story, now I know that I am not the only one . I just need to toughen up and accept this unique trait

I know it can be difficult to look different than the people around you, especially with grey hair as a young person. I don't think you need to toughen up, but I do think your friends need to stop making you feel crap over it. Continue to colour your hair if that makes you feel confident, and go natural if you feel like it. Your hair is part of you and it's beautiful, whether grey or dyed ❤

I would get teased by my cousins and friends to the point I didn't want to go out, I am noticing that alot of younger people are going grey it's getting very common, I find it embarrassing to buy just for men, I went to boots and I saw young people early twenties and younger buying hair dye, we are not seeing it because people are secretly dying there hair so you are definitely not alone, more people than you realise, the world is making people go prematurely grey, could be the environment that's causing it so stand up proud it's normal and my mum says age has nothing to do with it.

One time when i go to school riding my bike, i was laughed by bunch of kids, and that time i was very sad, why people doing this to me? My confidence in school at that time is very bad, i don't know maybe because of that i haven't had a girlfriend back then. I always insecure if people looking at me in public place. Along the time i got more confidence. When you're older you're more accepting yourself. You don't give a f*ck what people say. Just embrace it Back then i always keep my hair short to keep grey hair less visible. But right now i started growing my hair, even though my gray hair become more visible. Just embrace it. It's unique, people are easier to remember you. Don't let people bring you down

I like that you never dyed it.. I guess I appreciate that as I dyed my hair at 15 and just never stopped! I've been all the basic colours, never any fashion colours, maybe copper or red but those never lasted.. Now my hair is grey on top and wiry, I still have my 'old hair' underneath, a reminder of the pretty dark brown hair I've not seen in all these years! I have to say I wish that I appreciated it more, rather than getting rid of it the first chance I got! Of course as I'm getting older I realise the top is completely white, but I've never seen it come in, only noticing my roots changing over time.. And feeling like I'm now locked in dying it! You have lovely hair. My parter used to pluck my greys out, but over time he began saying there's just too many.. And then began the need for dying it every month, as apposed to it being fun, it was now a necessity.. Now I'm over it, it's almost a two weekly dye thing or else it looks like I'm balding, or like my hair is floating off my head! Ty for the video, it's nice to hear about other peoples history. And yes I agree on the greasy thing! My greys on top aren't too bad, but underneath, behind my ears they're like massive grey pubes! I mean what's with the texture.. Looks great alongside my brown poker straight hair... I've also noticed it goes very frizzy with humidity, never had that before Lol the joys.

Let me just say that this is the first time I watch a video on this subject. I'll be 18 in a few months and I started showing the first signs of my mother's side of the family's early graying hair over the last year. I never felt annoyed at the fact that I would be going gray (since I knew from an early age it was a very real possibility), but it most certainly feels good to see someone talk so proudly about their gray hair! I find it funny how my sideburns are the first thing that is turning gray, making me look a bit like Uncle Scrooge (for whatever reason, I've always had an abnormal amount of hair growing there, so it definitely makes sense that they would be the most noticeable part). I keep my hair pretty short and a little wavy, so I'm definitely wondering how it will look in gray. TL;DR thanks for the confidence you showed in this video! Your hair looks amazing and I hope mine turns out nicely too!

It’s beautiful! I’m 31 now but I got my first grey about 6 years ago. Now I have about 6-7 pieces of grey hair but only on my right side. My hair is long curly brown, light brown with alittle blond in it. It’s all natural too. My mom told me that people use to ask her when I was only 6, if she dyed my hair. Which of course she didn’t. The picture I have on here, I did have a few blond highlights only because I wanted it to look even. Idc anymore. I haven’t dyed it in years and it’s definitely not healthy for your hair. Your hair is so pretty and long just the way it is. I wish I was more confident as you when I was younger. Having so many different colors in my hair when I was younger, when I was in high school, it use to bother me so I did put highlights in it for years. But since I stopped- I love my hair even more. Because it’s me. So thank you for sharing your story.

I started going grey in my late 20s from a very dark brown and it’s been mostly white for a couple of decades now. Forgoing the dye pot was deeply unfashionable then but I’ve never regretted it and I’m happy to have avoided the growing out and/or root touch ups dye brings with it. The yellow that creeps in can be annoying - purple shampoo/conditioner usually takes care of that though.

I am 16 and after having various dyed colours since I was 12, I am now growing out my roots. I have noticed quite a few silver hairs in my roots and I honestly can’t wait for them to grow out more and hopefully go more silver. I really enjoyed your video :)

I think we have very similar hair: my original hair colour is very dark brown with a shade of red. I found my very first grey hair at age 8. Then I kind of forgot about that, but then I found another one at age 17 and althroughout my 20s I have got more and more grey hair. I am 29 now and I probably have got quite a few. I say probably, because contrary to you, I prefer to dye my hair. I don't like hair dye, but I use henna, which I think is better for the hair and fortunately, it is very similar to my real hair colour (so no crazy colours for me, I stay close to my original hair colour). It is cool that you made this video considering a lot of what you say sounds familiar. It is cool you're proud of your grey hair. I don't have that confidence haha. But your hair looks really nice and long and unique!

Dyed hair is beautiful too, and I love the texture henna gives to hair. Before I went quite so gray, I occasionally used henna as a hair mask. Love the hay-like smell of it too 😂

I noticed my first grey hairs at 16. I'm 21 now, and I'm at that stage where it's coming in streaks, mostly in my bangs/the front. I really want that Bride of Frankenstein look (or zebra look as you called it, hahah!) but I know that it's not going to go that way, as I can already see it starting to spread out of its "zones". It's funny, before the strands commit to turning white, they turn blonde first. I have super dark almost black hair just like you.

I started having gray hairs at 10. When I was about 11 and went to the salon to cut my hair the hairdresser was like "oh wow, you have gray hairs at such a young age?" I'm a teenager now and have a few white/gray hairs but not too noticeable. I've always been a very brave girl who wanted to get surgeries, glasses, blood tests and braces so having gray hair wasn't something I would EVER be insecure about, I actually love it and it makes me feel special, and I can't wait to have completely white hair when I'll be older :)

I had long dark hair which went grey shortly after having my second child, and my husband lost most of his hair at that point. We joke with her about it as pre and post photos of us shows the difference. I actually don’t think it was just her, I became really ill, but hormones and stress did play a part.

I'm glad you shared this video, over a few months ago my mom found a strand of white hair. Today i found a few greys on my hair, it felt so unreal because i'm only 14. My mom gotten hers when she is in her 20s. This video helped so much for me to embrace the change. I felt depressed and insecure abt this, I just discovered this and i'm still trying to accept myself I'm still afraid that i might become grey someday😭😔

Even as a kid, I thought gray hair looked beautiful and cool, so obviously I absolutely adore yours. My natural hair colour is medium brown w/ a reddish tint, and I have no intention to colour it when I get gray. I have found my first grays (at 39) & actually bought some cava to celebrate 😁 I hope I will get "mithril hair", as someone described it.
@JennNChia3 жыл бұрын
That's awesome! I didn't see my first gray until I was about 35, and now (I'm in my late 40s), I still only have small strands of gray. I dyed my hair a LOT when I was younger (from about age 15-37, I wanted to keep my childhood blond, but my hair was getting darker), but I actually stopped around the time my grays started showing up. I tell people they're glitter, and that I've EARNED them, by living what has sometimes been a difficult life. :) I think people should do whatever makes them happy, whether that's going gray, dying your hair a crazy color, or whatever else you like.

I am glad I found your video. My daughter is a teen ager and has a lot of grey hair. Just like yours in your 20’s but It doesn’t bother her-right now. You look great, it looks like you purposely highlighted your hair grey. I and my mom are very grey. We have a strong family history of grey hair.

I hope your daughter continues to love her hair ❤️ My mum hated her greys for a long time, I remember having to help her dye it ever since I was old enough to do so, but when I was 17 or so, I convinced her to grow out her natural hair and now we're both rocking the grey look

I'm 39 and started getting grey hairs at age 24. This year I started getting more obvious thick grey streaks as I am almost 40. I've been adding aqua and dark blue hair dye to my hair which looks very beautiful with the grey and my natural dark ash brown colored hair. I've been doing mermaid hair since I was 35 to try out new things since I've been doing the natural look most of my life with just my beautiful curly ash brown hair. It's been fun to start straightening my hair as well which helps me to see all the colors better and the shiny streaks. It also helps to know that teenagers actually dye their hair grey. I dress like I am in my teens and fool people with my age since my face looks younger than 30 according to the comments i receive from people LOL. I've never had plastic surgery or any thing that makes my face look younger. It just runs on my Mom's side of the family. I do have wrinkles but that apparently doesn't make me look 30 to others.

I started going grey in my teens, but my hair is very curly, so the greys are often covered by the volume of the hair. I also got a demi-permanent dark red dye a year ago, so the grey blends in further with the lighter red. I think I'll do the same as you--either enjoy pure white hair, or go crazy with rainbow colors!

So many possibilities! When my hair was still dark, colouring it wasn't even an option for me because of how much I'd have to bleach my hair first, but in a few years it will be much easier to try out different colours.

How interesting! I'm Hispanic and found my first gray hair at about 8yrs old. I am now 32 and it's roughly 20 to 30% but most of it is in a thick streak on the front and the rest scattered fairly evenly but you can see the dark brown more than on your hair. My mom also had me at 30yrs old and my maternal grandmother started going gray at 15yrs old. I get similar reactions to you. Most strangers think I've highlighted my hair. I love my gray (white) hair too! It's part of me now. I dyed it from my early teens to mid 20's but I've had it natural for many years now and will not touch it with permanent dye. My ex boyfriend and some family members have told me that I should dye it, that I would look younger but my dad, and even my hairdresser say it suits me and I agree. I've also found many of those undecided zebra hair strands throughout my life. In my profile photo my hair is parted covering the prominent white streak but the scattered bits are still visible.

Hm, I wonder whether types with naturally dark hair go grey earlier or if it's just more noticeable when we do! I love the look of a bright grey streak though, glad you're rocking it (and got rid of the boyfriend who didn't like it 😂)
