Always fun to see Old Slabsides vanquish Gatorade bottles and canned milk. A 1911 remains a valid CCW choice more than a century after it was designed. Rock’n tune on the outro as well. Thanks for the fun.

This video made me subscribe. As a 38yr 1911 shooter and carrier, your manual of arms was spot on. Keeping your thumb on top of the saftey while shooting is the only way to properly shoot a 1911. Try using the weaver stance and Jeff cooper would be proud!

leather holsters are awesome. I’m actually carrying my shield plus and a leather pancake holster from simply rugged out of Prescott Arizona. Super comfortable, super slim and formfitting. Those old guys a thing or two. Commander length in a leather holster man that’s comfort and style.

Love the 1911 platform and the .45ACP. I EDC an Ed Brown Kobra Carry in an amazing Tucker Leather holster. If that makes me a Fudd, well, I gladly accept. 😉 I have a range in my back yard and compete every month in a local Defensive Pistol match. I've been carrying and shooting 1911s, professionally and personally, for over 50 years. I'm comfortable, confident, and competent with them. Nice vid!

Ah yes...45 acp. I've been a 45 guy for many years. I carried a single stack EDC .45 for a long time and just recently moved to 9mm for the round count. I've had a few 1911's in years past and still have one I like to shoot from time to time. I think leather holsters meld with your body like a good pair of jeans. I do have a couple left including a duty holster from way back in revolver days. I use Kydex when I can find a positive lock holster that requires the finger button push to release. It's my natural draw anyway so it's just as quick. But still, a good leather holster is hard to beat for comfort. Thanks for the fun video.

Glad you had fun with the best autoloader platform on the planet with the best overall cartridge for it!👍 Yeah, I'm old and have my standards. Around here it's wheelguns and 1911A1s. And all carried in leather. With the exception of rimfire, I load for all my weapons and 95% with my own cast bullets, many of which were designed several decades ago. Thanks for showing how straightforward and useful the 1911 platform is. 🫡 And Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Nothing wrong with using Super Vel ammunition. It’s old but still good. My Police Chief didn’t allow .45 for off duty use. We were allowed .38 Special, .40 S&W, 10mm. He learned in the Marines how powerful the .45 was from hearing stories about it. The Glock rep was giving us new G38 for our G19 and was laughing when he heard that excuse. This was the time when the New York State Police switched from the G17 to the G37. My last 1911, was a 9mm Kimber. The 9mm is the most popular caliber in the 1911 market.

I really question if those old hollow-points would expand regardless off speed. Not very well regardless of caliber. But in 45 and 40 they all fall to ball.
@CarryTrainer2 күн бұрын
Fall to ball? What's that mean? What specific rounds are you speaking about? The ones in the video certainly do what they are designed to do. We've done extensive gel testing and barrier testing.
@graywind43262 күн бұрын
@@CarryTrainer well stuff like hydra shock in most calibers are iffy and there are a lot of other iffy hollowpoints out there. Like anything Remington rarely expands in tests and a lot of others don’t. All fall to ball means fmj rounds in 45 worked in WW2 and Vietnam and will still work to stop the threat. Fall as in fall to the ground or dead. Trunacated cone fmj .40 the same. High performance hollowpoints are the better choice but they need to work through clothing at your chosen barrel length.
