I really appreciate seeing different people's processes for downsizing collections. Thanks for sharing yours! I bought a bunch of music CDs, cinematic DVDs, and still buy cheaper used games I think I'll like. However, these things take substantial space and the more you have, the more the BEST & FAVORITE entries get overlooked. As I get older, my time gets more and more limited and it really benefits me to not waste it with anything I don't love. I'll probably do what you do...play through some games that have been sitting awhile...if I'm not compelled to beat it, it's probably a sell. Even if I actually beat it, will I ever go back when there's more games being released than ever before? If not, sell.
@blarghblargh Жыл бұрын
Everyone needs to do the right way for them. I emulated for decades, and now that I am going back and doing games on carts, I'm realizing how much better I like it. I'll probably go through a purge of the games I'm buying to try, eventually, but it's fun to build up the collection in the mean time. I think collecting to learn is a valid thing to do (as are many other reasons to collect), and that reason in particular means a purge is probably inevitable.
@Marina-bd4le Жыл бұрын
Always good to purge, even if you keep 500 games so long as their ones you actually enjoy. Being a gamer and having a hoarder collector mentality seem to go together for whatever reason. Glad to see you making efforts to clean out the garbage.

Hi Pam, thanks for making this video. It's kind of inspired me to think of my collection and come to the realization that no only am I sitting on dozens of games/movies/consoles/entire generations that I probably am never going to play and I should free up the room, which is now at a premium due to all the clutter I have. But looking at all the stuff on Ebay now, it's kind of overwhelming. I'm pretty sure that if I list something, it's either not going to sell, or sell for well under its value to someone who's probably going to try resell it anyway. GL selling yours at the game exchange, that sounds like a great idea, it's probably harder to lowball someone when you're standing right in front of them :P
@Cannotbetamed1 Жыл бұрын
Selling in person was quite an experience. Most people were reasonable. Paid sticker price, or asked for $5 or $10 bucks off if they were buying a few things. Some straight up offered me 50% of asking or tried to convince me they could get it somewhere else so I should change my prices.

1:37:30 this one is a great game! I remember it being difficult and I didn't personally beat it 100%, it gets tricky as the controls are a little weird, for example in order to attack behind you, you need to press and hold the attack button while pressing back on the D-pad, super strange controls that are incredibly obsolete by today's standards but I personally enjoy this game a lot!

The Super Mario Brothers film of 2023 dominated the April box office. Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2 were huge box office hits along with the Mortal Kombat film. The Last of Us, Castlevania, Cuphead and Halo have all been tremendous series with millions of viewers. Now it's the time for gaming properties and anime properties to dominate streaming series, TV and the box office. Here are some gaming properties that deserve to have a streaming series or a bunch of films: 1. The Legend of Zelda 2. Metroid 3. Yakuza from SEGA 4. Crash Bandicoot 5. Bioshock 6. Red Dead Redemption 7. The Walking Dead Clementine Adventures by Telltale Games 8. Heavy Rain 9. Mass Effect 10. God of War. (This may get a series and it deserves it.) 11. Gears of War 12. Call of Duty 26. Pac Man 27. Final Fantasy done right 28. Monster Hunter 29. Beyond: Two Souls: You can tell that Stranger Things was inspired by this game. 30. Dragon Quest 31. Psychonauts 32. Hey Pam, I'm new to your channel but I've have to say you're making a very smart move IMPO and also your taste in video games is pretty unique, compared to a lot of the other people (I'm a big Metroidvania fanatic as well). First off, it's best to buy games digitally these days as having a big physical collection can end up taking too much storage in the entire house, and also with things like Xbox Game Pass, Switch eShop (including the Switch Online via the retro gaming apps) and the PS and Xbox Microsoft stores (especially in Xbox Game Pass) you can feel free to play pretty much whatever that seems appealing to your liking, and you don't like you can just delete it (except for Switch Online) :) of course there's a downside to digital collecting like getting really expensive SD cards to increase the storage, but for me personally it's not as bad as physically owning a bunch of games that will never be touched again, or at all. As another thing that I find interesting, you're a big Saints Row fan despite not uploading reviews of the series in your videos. Have you also played any of the Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout, Bioshock, Borderlands, Mafia, Assassin's Creed or even the Yakuza series? Have you also owned/played a few other systems like the Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, and the more obscure ones, the Commodore 64 and Amiga? Lastly, if you think Adventures Of Dino Riki is bad, wait till you play Addams Family: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt on the SNES. It is one of the most bland and also hardest games on the system, it's a sequel to the first Addams Family as the gameplay is similar, but the latter really took awfulness to a whole another level with no password system unlike the first game, it's a very big chore. However, the only slight positive thing about the game is some of the music. The one where you inside a freezer, Granny Addam's spirit ball and the lab has the best song in the entire game, honestly. But overall you should skip this game, it'll bore you to death that you might fall asleep 😴 Edit: Forgive me for not seeing this video correctly, you did enjoy Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and you also enjoyed Yakuza Like A Dragon (saw your latest Game Pass video). I actually have both the Fallouts myself on my Xbox Series S, but am not really much of a gamer these days, been doing a lot of boxing training since last year

For some, that means never selling their collection. For others, that means selling your collection when you recognize that you're not enjoying the hobby as much as you used to. I started downsizing my large game collection and it has been a wonderful experience. Of the hundreds of games I've sold, I don't regret selling a single one.

I'm about to start selling my (comparatively small) collection too. Gonna keep the games from my childhood, the ones I'm personally attached to. The rest are just sitting on a shelf collecting dust and serving me no purpose. Some people sell their games because they've fallen on hard times and necessities like food, shelter, etc. are more important. Like you said, the memories can't be replaced. You'll still have the memories after you sell the games. They're just material objects. Emulation exists, and even better, console modding. You can play anything you want without needing to have a physical copy. You say collecting and later selling games is a waste of time, but gaming in itself is a waste of time. Hi Pam glad to hear you decided to go sell your games at the convention. Hope things work out for you and you sell a ton of games. Somethings I wanted to mention: 1. 😳You've only played Megaman 2 and not the others? That's quite a surprise. I hope you give the other ones a chance sometime. A good way to play the original series that I would recommended and save some money is the Megaman Anniversary Collection on Playstation 2. You get 1-8 plus a couple of never before released Arcade games and the first episode of the Megaman Cartoon that was use to come on in the 90s. 😀 These are also avialable on Switch and some of the other. Problem though is on that version you have to download the other games. 😠 ( However 9 and 10 where originally only digital only games so this may be the only way to play those now. ) Megaman 11 is a big pass for me as well. I played and beat it, but it was very short and disappointing so your not missing much with 11. You can also get most of the X series as a colection on PS2 as well that has a racing game that was originally release but got cancled on the PS1 so you get that as a bonus! You can also find the Megaman X colection on Switch now, buts its just like they did with the Megaman series one and you'll need to download the rest of them. 2. In regards to Castlevania don't feel bad about not beating 1. Its tough and it took me YEARS before I even conquered it. ( This is by the way pre internet with no save states at that time.) It's very challenging, especially with stage 5 and 6. But the ending is worth it! 😀 Hope you beat it sometime. There's nothing more satisfying then beating Dracula. I also love Simon's Quest. There's a reason you hear the term Metroidvania. Simon's Quest was the first Castlevania to so this and it was very cool for its time. ( although that's more tribute to Symphony of The Night for why you get the vania part. ) Still amazing collection on the Switch. Well worth the money. 3. I hope you give Golgo 13: Top Secret Episode a try on the NES sometime. It has some nice variety. The good news is the game is very cheap if you ever want to get it back and there is a sequel on the NES called The Mafat Conspiracy. Both are based on the anime manga series Golgo 13 itself. That's about it. Take care Pam and all the best to you.

awww had no idea the Barrie Game Exchange was a thing, i think me and the missus may have tp plan the next trip up that way (we were out near Elmvale for a week summer of 2022 up from NL) and i had no idea it was a thing (i had been to a cpl places for tabletop in the area but i was all over the place while i was there including the hunt for fun bootlegs at Pacific Mall, got me my ceremonial pirated DVDs and then a pile of foods lol. i'll have to plan it towards september if possible, we maybe going up to check out breeders as the miss wants a lil frenchie next (we already have a Pyredoodle, and i had a Yellow lab mix for 13 years who i lost to cancer in 2020, vis of her are on my account, earlier stuff). that's so cool! good luck with the sales!!!

I did this a little while ago. I still have a large collection, but I removed anything I didn't think I'd ever play. I just sold them in lots on eBay though, because I didn't want to deal with shipping hundreds of packages. Plus it made the worst games someone else's problem.

I'm not too much into point-and-click games, but dash it all, I loved "Blazing Dragons!" The humour is fantastic, it has a really fun story, and the puzzles actually make sense. Wish it was on something other than the PS1, since I don't have mine anymore. 😒

What made you want to sell your video game collection?

i always thought about selling my psp games but it's probably a hassle for 100$ or less. my psp's been broken for 8+ years and i doubt they'll ever make it again, at least not with the umd.

Control constantly goes on sale on the Xbox Store for surprisingly cheap. I'd sell the physical copy and pick it up on sale later if you do decide to play it again.

Autograph the cases and/or instructions booklets of your games. Sell them to your fans and make a little extra $

I think in life you will always have different parts of it where your priorities change. For me it was all a bunch of fomo, especially with xbox 360 prices going up day by day and certain games just jumping up ridiculously, but I'm not worrying myself with it, and like you, I get rid of yhe games i don't play or won't play or have played but won't play again because i got the achievements or just played through it and got my enjoyment from it

I will watch this later but right off the top, I'm in a similar spot as you. I'm cutting down my collection too. It's harrowing at best.

Many say purge is good, but here is my story, which is the opposite. I do own quite a number of physical games---ps2, xbox360, ps4, but I won't sell many if any of them. Why? I once made this mistake with books. Then 2, 5 or 10 years later I suddenly want to look something up, only to realise that I did away with the book where the info was in. So yes, I even keep mediocre or even burned down games, keeping account of the possibility that one day I may 'discover' a game that I happen to own. Case in point (just an example): Rogue Warrior (xb360, probably other platforms). Burned down by the community, actually a funny and relaxing game, not in the last place due to the swearing of Mickey Rourke. So I stick to my stuff. Call me a hoarder.

I thought I had too many physical copies, until I actually got them stored in something other than old beer bottle boxes. Turns out, all my games fit on just a few shelves in the bookcases I just bought. More room for books, comics, and CDs I guess.

Oh one more thing I forget from my last post on this video. You showed NFL 2K4 on PS2. You should definitely get NFL 2K5 on the original X-box and play it sometime. ( The Xbox version allowed you to watch game recaps videos while the PS2 version couldn't. So if your looking for presentation the Xbox was better in this regard. Otherwise both are good. ) Some consider this one of the best NFL Football games around. ( Plus Sega helped make this game. Sega was known at this time in helping make good sports titles. ) I have to agree and I use to play Madden 10 on PS3. Even if you don't play football/sports games very often the things you can do in NFL 2K5 were a step ahead of its time. The Football physics and presentation. You feel like your watching a sports program in the franchise mode. It even has some fantasy RPG elements to it in regards of setting up your rosters, train players, draft players that are scouted and sign them, even negotiate contracts. ( There's even a glossary you can look at if your not familiar with football that can help you out. ) ( Keep in mind this game was made in 2004 and was sold 10 dollars cheaper then the EA Madden competitor when it came out. However the PS2/Xbox Madden games were also good in parallel. This was due to competition of the brands to make the best NFL football game. Some even believe this was one of the the reasons EA would later that year secure an NFL Exclusive license due to the price threat. NFL 2K5 along with a few other NFL titles would be the last ever made. To this day at the time of this post only EA can make exclusive official licensed NFL video games due to this exclusive licenses. With that said many still play NFL 2K5 today with roster mods and even upgraded graphic mods.) Thanks again Pam.

Been watching this video in snips at a time and it wasn't until the PS2 section where we find the FIRST game I've also played, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Then, it appeared.. THOUSAND ARMS!!!! One of my top 10 games!!! That is a good $100 sell, even without the manual.
