DC-53 Info: DC-53 is a general purpose, cold work die and mold steel that also provides excellent strength and toughness that approaches those of high-speed steels. DC53, is an improvement over alloy tool steel D-2. It eliminates the disadvantages of insufficient hardness and toughness that are a result of high-temperature tempering found with D-2. DC-53 is typically chosen as a replacement for D-2 in use for general purpose and precision dies. DC-53 is noted for causing less tool wear and machining times that are faster than D2 Tool Steel.

I just sharpened my EF131. Took a very good edge. Then I chopped into a 2x12 several times. No damage to the edge. Amazing. Even with a sharp/delicate edge it did not do any damage.

Efengrow knives are great. The big issue is the handles are a little too short for large hands, particularly gloves hands. The handles need to be 4/34 to 5". That is a sweet spot for most men hand sizes. I have 3 EF knives and the only issue is the handle length.

DC53 is basically D2 on steroids. Much tougher, much more durable metal. has corrosion resistance. It's a very good metal.

So after watching the video here, I ordered one and today it arrived. Make no mistake, in the hand this knife feels really good. I'll be keen to see how it performs over time but for the time being I'm really pleased with the purchase and it's looking to be excellent value. I ordered one a month or so ago. Very solid. I could be wrong but I think its made in China, but do yourself a favor and get one. If you are on the fence about getting one, You won’t be disappointed. For 50 bucks I would carry this in the field before my ESEE 5.

Might just be me but ive bought the 128, 130and now the 131 all good knifes but i did have to put an edge on each one as they came slightly dull from factory. Over all great knifes

The only problem with EAFENGROW knives is CHOOSING one. But with these prices you can own 4 or 5 for the price of a Benchmade. The jig is up USA made knives are no better than imports that have quality control. When I was a kid kn the 60s MADE IN JAPAN was an insult too. Now. Amarican cars can't compete with the quality and reliability. The term IMPORT was an insult, now Mercedes and BMW are the status symbols of all successful people. My EDC is the EAFENGROW 121 .

Yes in my opinion it’s still very sharp. I can only assume that it’s DC53 steel and take the word of the manufacturer/company.

Hi there this is a good question. I am not really sure how to answer this anymore because I try to use my tip in a smart way no matter what the knife is. I really don’t plan on doing side tip testing into a stump any longer as I cannot recall if there is an actual use out in the field for that abusive type of tip testing.

It would be nice if you can test the edge by cutting some paper at the end of the test to see how good the edge retention is.

I have done that with other videos, but how is cutting paper going to help in a outdoor real world scenario? If I can make feather sticks at the end of my videos, or remove bark, or even make a tent steak with notches, isn’t that better than a paper test? I don’t care how sharp any knife is in the beginning of the video. Can it still do what I need it to do in the woods is my question. And so far 98 percent of these knives I have tested pass this for me.

I really like the looks of this knife. I don't understand why no American knife companies can make stuff like this? We either have junk or extremely overpriced. I just don't get it. I don’t understand it either. I can’t for the life of me figure out why American companies, both production and custom, can’t compete with China. These knives I have been testing are phenomenal and all below 100 dollars. The American knife markets have gone insane with their pricing and no one will convince me any longer that ANY knife should cost more than 150 both fixed or folding. The worst part is we are shamed and made to feel we are part of the problem of American knife companies. Some marketing strategies huh?
