I watched a programme some months ago and Sweden did a test on electric cars and they said that these cars caused more pollution than petrol and diesel cars also more damage to the roads due to the extra weight of the battery.

I have an EV through work and it's bedlam during winter because I can't even cover half the distance that I do during summer because the battery discharges too quickly. Went hiking with my son and his friend last Friday and we drove 70 miles there and back. The car was fully charged then and now I have to charge it again. When I had a petrol, I only filled it up once every week travelling 210 miles a week. There is absolutely no benefit to electric and I'm glad I have the opportunity to try before I actually went and bought one.

UK is now almost exclusively recycling steel with arc furnaces rather than smelting new steel from ore with blast furnaces and open hearth. The consequences are that the quality of steel is decreasing progressively, but as they close down the normal methods of steel making in favour of electrically powered arc furnaces , UK will have no quality steel alternatives available. Electricity does not generate itself and even nuclear power has a waste that cannot be eliminated for thousands of years. Wind turbines are creating more land fill requirements than they are electricity, because the turbine blades when they wear after killing wild birds and destroying country views, go to landfill. The cost benefit calculations for wind turbines seems sketchy to me.

Quite. As for so called renewables, wind and solar equipment is made in China from coal fired energy, it has a very limited life span and, as you point out, isn't even eco friendly. Ironically, wind farms need oil to keep the rotors turning efficiently and what happens when the wind doesn't blow and the sun goes in. Even when the wind does blow, if it blows too much the turbines have to be turned off! But don't worry because the so called Government wants us all to drive electric vehicles which are unfit for purpose and for which we simply cannot produce enough energy. To cap it all we have unstable, deranged Miliband in charge of chasing a fantasy called New Zero. God help the UK
