That sounds amazing, what a trip! Glad you're enjoying Georgia, it would be easy to spend another 3 months there I'm sure ; ) We lived in Korea for 3 years and miss it so much. We had to get our Korean food fix at 'Seoul' restaurant in Tbilisi whenever our cravings got too bad! All the best for the rest of your long journey. Cheers! Kim

Love the Bukhanka. Seriously considering getting one. My youngest got a trip in one in her mum's tummy when the ambulance came to pick my wife up to take her to the maternity ward. Small town Lithuania ambulances were Bukhankas then. Having a wee binge on your Georgia trip. On episode 4 so far. Love the patter between you both.

I LOVE Shash"s Buhanka! Overlando ROCKS! I spent the 5 months of Summer in Georgia in 2019. Covid prevented my return. I flew commercial tandem paragliders in Gudauri for 3 months. Got to camp with that UAZ a few times, obvz with different folk. Lovely to see some of the amazing places I went. Thanks!

Epic 4 part series, amazing camera work! You deserve so much more traffic, perhaps adding "Overlanding" in your title will attract that community as many would love to venture to Georgia :)

Woooow.. that was a bumpy ride you had there (bumpy in every sense). These are the times having a good partner with you is helpful, because you can support each other in the bad, scary moments. But as long as you have food and wine (i mean water! haha), things can't be that bad. Those views though are amazing and the drone shots.. yes! I always enjoy watching your adventures.

Thanks, Joanna! Well, I was definitely glad to have Del to deal with the driving and van mudcidents (especially seeing as I can't drive, ha!) and I can always be relied on to have a stash of wine, so I guess that makes a good road trip team ; )

Like those chairs, where did you get them? Been to the badlands in the 70s and that area you are in is similar although the rock in S. Dakota is more red. Stunning photography.
@GoingTheWholeHogg3 жыл бұрын
Would love to visit The Badlands NP, can't get enough of this kind of landscape! Actually, no idea where the chairs are from, this was a rental van and I don't remember the name on them! But they were sturdy, comfy, and quick to set up, perfect for grabbing out of the van.

Thank you for visiting my country, enjoy your stay and all of its beauty! The now forgotten Buhankas can be encountered in the many many villages and rural areas of Tbilisi. Some of them are owned by the GWP, yet it’s still really jarring to see one once in a while. P.S: If you more authentic Georgian cuisine, I suggest you visit the restaurant “Bulachauri” in Tbilisi or towards Kazbegi. Love from the Didube district!

Another interesting story. Georgia is amazing country, great food, wonderful people. By the way your car "Buhanka" in Russian means loaf of bread.

Your channel was recommended by KZbin and I'm glad it did. 2 minutes into the video and I subscribed, this is exactly what I was looking for; long videos of a road trip with the bukhanka I hope you share with us your thoughts about the vehicle. I'm considering buying one and have a similar build than yours. All the best from Chile, Pablo.
@GoingTheWholeHogg3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and subscribing! This buhanka is actually a rental here in Georgia, we hired it for 2 weeks and will have a 4 part video series about our road trip with it. We wish it was ours to keep though! It's a 2018 model, we had no problems with it, great 4x4 capability. Of course it has its quirks, but for off-road van travel it's great.

@@GoingTheWholeHogg Thank you for your reply, I realised it was rented after I posted the comment (I saw the stickers) wow a 4 part video series! that's awesome, I love the content in your channel and the cinematography is top notch. I'm really looking forward to the next content. Maybe one day you'll be able to make it all the way to South america, there're tons of places to visit, I do recommend Carretera Austral in southern Chile.

@@sydgerald Thank you! Part 4 coming on Sunday : ) We'd love to visit South America, actually that was always the plan for 2020 but we had a last minute change of heart and decided to head to Georgia instead! In hindsight probably the best decision given everything that unfolded.... Southern Chile looks incredible. We would love to road trip there and do lots of hiking in Patagonia. And the desert areas in the north look amazing, too. One day!!

It certainly was an adventure! Didn’t have spare fuel, but the van has two tanks and we had them both filled and knew we should be able to cover the distance before we reached the petrol station. Always carry our emergency satellite messenger too, just in case!

Live in the UK and randomly fell in love with these vans. Really want one but probably gonna have yo buy one in Russia or Bulgaria since they're the only places I can buy one for cheap. The Germans and French charge €10,000 for something the can get for €1500 in Eastern Europe.
@GoingTheWholeHogg2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's not so easy or cheap to get hold of one in the UK, and lots of red tape I believe if trying to import one. We've had a lot of fun in these vans in Georgia and Mongolia!

Well....I’m 17 mins into this and must confess that I’m just not getting it. I’m going to stick with it because I absolutely love your Scottish vlogs and looking forward to other destinations. Perhaps it’s just me but I’m not seeing anything interesting or appealing in this ugly barren desolate landscape. Worst still is that awful heap your travelling in. Sorry, but it’s more endurance than anything else. Why would anyone want to go there?
@GoingTheWholeHogg3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, Steven (even when you don't enjoy the landscape!). The scenery is certainly a far cry from the Scottish Highlands, but we find it very beautiful in its own way. And I have to admit, I adore the van! I guess it's a case of each to their own, there's no right or wrong, just a difference of opinion. Most of our future videos from Georgia will be from the mountains and lakes of the Greater Caucasus, an entirely different landscape to this southeastern part of the country. I hope you'll enjoy that scenery more! Thanks for sticking with it! Cheers, Kim

I guess that's because you are a city person, not used to tranquility in remote areas. I understand FULLY why people go to such places. In fact, I was inspired by this video to put Georgia on my bucket list with Kazachstan and Kyrgystan. And the heap they are driving in? Well, I have one for myself and it is tough as old nails, ready to go anywhere, any weather, any terrain, any whatever.
@stevenmeston99803 жыл бұрын
@@Tillerman56 Hi, Actually I am not a city person at heart having been brought up in rural Shropshire in beautiful countryside. My grandparents are from Uist in Scotland and I have travelled extensively throughout the world solo on a motorcycle. Some people travel just to say they have been there and enjoy the challenge of a few hardships on the way but as the saying goes: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As to the vehicle it looks like the one and only choice in that region but I still prefer my old Land Rover for tackling rough terrain. Best wishes and good luck with your trip.
