OMG, it just occurred to me that they are taking the singing and miking (microphone) style of The Butthole Surfers, and applying it to heavy metal guitar. Cheers to the innovation of the Butthole Surfers. I personally don't care for Gojira exactly. It's almost like they are singing in this way to avoid creating a pure tone. Look at how Slayer or better-yet Judas Priest had voices that just SOARED over the rough, intense textures of their metal. This may offend some, but i see this newer style of heavy-metal as a way to relate to the massess on how we are un-able to fully express ourselves vocally in this politically-correct pre-Trump era. It's not even cool to sing like an opera singer anymore---even in Heavy Metal. At this point, I, personally, choose Shining Armor instead. Could be my new band, maybe.
