You might be right, and in this case this is not true, cursed energy users can get "high" on it because it is essentially literally a negative energy and when using too much of it sometimes it can affect the brain. Todo explained it to Yuuji at some point telling him negative feelings may enhance his output but not necessarily make him a better user because of it and we also have seen this once before with megumi when fighting the cursed spirit under the bridge who ate sukuna's finger. it essentially gives them a "high" when pushed to the max limit of their abilities. which implies that Toji did really push Gojo to his limit to the point where he had to ascend to higher level of Jujutsu in order to beat someone who doesn't even have cursed energy. Gojo probably would've have reached this level on his own in time since his Six Eyes exist and they simply amplify everything that has to do with controlling and reading cursed energy. but his fight with Toji gave him a shortcut simply because of the life and death situation he was in. going further into the story you're gonna find out why Gojo is literally HIM.

Throughout Season 1 up to this point, we see that Gojo has always been confident, borderline egotistical. His "awakening" cemented that. So the last segment shows Geto acting as Gojo's moral compass. If Geto gave Gojo the "okay" to kill them, Gojo would've done it. His literally being the strongest shows how when you're given absolute power it can corrupt someone, given the situation. The symbolism shows Gojo walking away due to the moral compass of Geto, showing that Gojo has a darker side to him. Yet, Geto faces those people clapping to the death of Amanai. Even though Geto stopped Satoru, he himself is lost there in the moment. When you look at the ground you begin to see the growing darkness within. Geto's ideologies have followed adult Gojo through Season 1 and he uses it to control his darker nature.

geto said that he can absorb the curses if "they dont want to be with their master" (im paraphrasing). the curse rejected him, and during the post-credit scene we see the curse saying "mama, hug". this goes to show the curse only wanted someone to embrace it, and since it was always wrapped around toji, it didnt wanna leave his side. thats my headcannon atleast.

just as some quick fun facts: you guys mentioned how gojo seemed "enlightened" during his fight w toji. well, gojo's first name "satoru" (悟) is actually the japanese word used for enlightment or some kind of spiritual awakening! also, you might have noticed how when gojo says "throughout heaven and earth, i alone am the honored one", it is portrayed in quotes in the subtitles. this is because this phrase in buddhist legend is believed to have been said by Buddha himself right after he was born, and while pointing with his right hand up at heaven and left hand down at earth. so, basically exactly what gojo did after his enlightment!

And I am pretty sure just like any baby he said , wahhhhh. You could say that the sentence came from Chinese literature . hinduism is not a polytheistic religion. Both modern day hinduism and Buddhism arose PARTLY from bhraminism which arose from Vedic religion. Since there were also many different beliefs like shivatites,krishnites, vishunism etc. Since Europeans and persians looked at the indian subcontinent and thought everything looked similar so they named it all hinduism then VERY later differentiated Buddhism and Jainism from it. If you slam your blade through someone's skull and they don't die from that, they can just take the win. Toji was clean. He put the hands on two of the strongest sorcerers out there and completed his mission. But, Gojo evolved on the brink of death and ascended to being the honored one. Even then, he still kept fighting. Toji remembered his son and died on his feet, leaving everything to Gojo. Goated antagonist. That after credits scene. All those people clapping at seeing Riko's dead body. Crazy how Gojo was just like, "Should we just kill everyone here?" And Geto is opposed to that because there would be no meaning to all that death. Their perspectives are truly and utterly flipped right now.

In the actual lore, sun wukong the monkey king challenged buddha and got put in his place just as Gojo defeated Toji. Buddha pointed one finger to the sky and one down on earth and said "Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the Honored One".

This situation is not only showing Gojo reaching enlightenment but is also a cheeky reference to Sun Wokung challenging the Buddha in Journey to West.

I'm just enamoured by how relatable Getou feels throughout his character arc, even though we barely know him, barely hear him, barely see his thoughts. It's like this "simple" existential crisis, but also so much more. My dude a teenager, not even a grownup, probably still fucked in the head from hormones doing weird stuff to you. He's a prodigy with a lot of weight and expectations thrown upon him. He's a thinker - has to be, since despite being this young it seems like he can just immediately talk about his views and ideals. That's the type of guy IRL, that reads all the time, tries out dozen different religions, visits dozens of countries, meets thousands of people just to feel there's a point to all of it. I believe that - and can imagine the level of - he's completely disgusted, hearing those zealots clapping and cheering for him. For Riko's death, for what happened. It's sad and inspiring at the same time - that's what a nicely written story makes me feel.

with maki the heavenly pact was made because she and mai are twins, and that's a curse on its own, that's why mai has cursed energy and maki has little to no cursed energy. And yes while gojo was already so powerful, he was still leraning his techniques and combinations, hence why he failed to do the red technique a few episodes ago, he still couldn't understed the concept of reverse cursed technique. BUT as he was dying he had an enlightment about the core concept of cursed energy, understood its nature and now you could say he reached """god-like""" powers, as the final round against toji is made for us to understand it, as he was the chosen one, the honored one in heaven and earth. ALSO yes geto saw his transformation, as he became even more powerful, and you have to remember he was not dead when toji said "you all were defeated by a *monkey* with no cursed energy like him". And toji, at that moment when he listened to that, the person who killed riko and gojo, imagine the feelings he had for this person. AND when he sees gojou transformed, on his high on another dimension, so much more powerful than him, imagine how his feelings are getting mixes, his moral dilemma might start from this conflict, of him being aware of how powerless he became by not only toji with no cursed energy, but also by gojo and his new status as a sorcere. that's why he almost can't recognize his best friend on the final scenes. and yeah, as carter said, its the beginning of his downfall from that scene. I really liked how they portrayed that with the colors (gojo getting out of the room in red and geto in the room in blue) as well as geto in the room and the floor beneath his feet getting darker and darker (also his eyes trembling) ANYWAYS I thought the episode was really clear and also the next one will bring more clarification for the soon to begin dilemmas and ideological conflicts in jujutsu really like your reactions, thank you once again for the videos !!!

That dynamic between both side of spectrum, a human with no cursed energy defeating a sorcerer and him seeing Gojo alive with a god-like vibe/demeanor to him, really messed him up on how he sees himself in the situation, almost like he felt he was all alone in this, which make him question his identity and what he lives for. Reverse cursed technique is the pinnacle of jujutsu sorcery and a very rare technique, that's one of the reason shoko is never sent on dangerous missions because prior to gojo's awakening, she was the only one at jujutsu high who could use it, hence she was seen as a jewel. Very few people master it, so far we've seen only gojo, yuta, sukuna and shoko use it, and only yuta and shoko can use it in healing others aside themselves. You all saw how yuji transcended to another level after tasting black flash, now imagine how gojo must have been feeling in that moment considering RCT is a more supreme form of jujutsu than summoning a black flash.....

Great reaction! Might be my first comment on the channel too. Love y’all’s reactions. When Geto was unable to take it, it was the curse that rejected him. The curse was extremely loyal to Papaguro And without spoiling anything, the ending credit: they’re basically agreeing with eachother. In my personal opinion I think considering how different they’re from eachother, they deal with similar emotions differently. One kid is a little more grounded; while the other can see everything in life with the six eyes. And I also wouldn’t consider Gojo “cocky”. He operates on an “untra instinct” kinda level with everything he does. Considering that, he’s humble to me. Could be worse lol he can back up anything and everything he says.

To address the point made at 12:35 Geto says you can’t kill them without there being a point. You could interoperate that as honourable but it’s still an issue because his reasoning isn’t focused on the fact killing is wrong, just that with a lack of a point it’s wrong. This is a dangerous mentality because many people find ways to justify killing and Geto is included in this. So if all he needs is a justification then that contrasts Gojo who was willing to do something so “evil” but he didn’t need a reason

12:40 I think there's a symbolic meaning for Geto to get Toji's curse. It builds a parallel between how Geto and Gojo were affected by him in opposite ways. While Toji's actions in this arc and subsequent events contribute to Geto's spiral, it causes Gojo to reach enlightment and become the strongest. Also, after Toji tells him about his son, Gojo gets Megumi under his wing, whose name means "blessings". So basically, while Gojo got Toji's "blessings" (Megumi/strength) Geto got his "curse" (the actual curse/ his downfall)

As only a anime watcher I would say something I noticed is in season one, the principal kept asking yuji what was his Goals and aspirations and not what other people wants from him. In this season, we keep seeing geto saying “that’s what jujitsu sorcerers do” or “that’s what it means to be a jujutsu sorcerer” we haven’t actually seen his actual ideals only the ideals of others

One of the most important themes of this arc and the series as a whole is that it’s a critique of the typical shonen hero organization. The Jujutsu world is an inherently hypocritical society in which to supposedly save the weak, you kill and murder and the real benefactors are usually a bunch of assholes. Yuji wants to ensure people have a proper death, but to do so, he’s forced to give others the most horrifying death imaginable. Gojo and Geto are taxed with keeping the Jujutsu Order intact, even if it means killing an innocent little girl. They were sent on a mission to make sure their world doesn’t crumble apart, and in doing so were exposed to how horrible it truly was. Toji is a metaphor for the freedom from this corrupt sort of right and wrong. He’s an agent of pure carnage who freed himself from Jujutsu (literally away from the zenin clan and physically away from cursed energy), but the small emotions he still felt held him behind and at the end of the day, that’s why he lost.

“Through heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one” is a infamous quote attributed to the have been said Buddha when he left his mother’s womb in Japanese Buddhism, and been used in the nations’ cultural history rather pervasively. It’s sort of like reciting an infamous bible quote the moment you come back from the dead like Jesus did if that helps for the context. In this case, Gojo is making an allusion to his “rebirth” as his version of “enlightenment” that Buddha is said to have achieved in Buddhism.

The way you gotta see that final scene, is that it’s moreso Geto desperately convincing himself that killing everyone in that room is the wrong thing to do, as opposed to interpreting it as him trying to convince Gojo. He looks down, and his eyes drift as if gathering his thoughts and composure. Great reaction, I heard your discussion. Here’s some clarifications: 1) Those people clapping in the end are not clapping for Gojo and Geto. In fact it’s insulting, they are clapping because Riko is dead. They are rejoicing because Riko is dead, Tengen(their god) will not be assimilating the vessel and may evolve further. 2) The creepy female scissor-using curse is not Tengen doing. The curse is Kuchisake-Onna. She was unleashed by Geto and is one of Geto's stronger curses. 3) When Geto tried to absorb the worm slug inventory curse during the fight. Geto didn’t know back then but it failed because the Worm had formed a ‘contract’ with Toji, making Toji the master. To absorb the worm, you got to kill the master first. In the end, Geto acquired the worm curse. You can see it in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. This is also the reason why in 0, Geto said to obtain the Rika Curse, he need to kill Yuta first. 4) While it is true Toji got defeated by Gojo in the 2nd fight. It’s insane to know Toji a normal human with Zero Curse Energy fought Gojo(a man blessed with ‘everything’. Six Eyes and Limitedless born into one.) Toji remarked that he can handle Blue and Red. The ‘something off’ that he wasn’t aware and couldn’t handle was Purple. In the first fight, Toji would have won flawlessly. But he deliberately do some really roundabout thing than truly killing Gojo. Perhaps Pride? For example, Toji was already slashing Gojo all around using the Reverse Spear of Heaven but yet when it comes to the finishing head stab Toji swapped out to a random weapon. Instead if it was the Reverse Spear of Heaven, it would have nullified whatever Gojo was trying and Gojo would be dead. So Gojo was really lucky there. This was remarked by Gojo, he said: You did not use the Cursed Tool Reverse Spear of Heaven to stab or chop off my head.(because the Reverse Spear of Heaven would have nullify whatever Gojo was trying) If you read into it, this was the whole turning point. Because Gojo was stabbed in the head with some other random weapon, Gojo could use Reverse Cursed Technique and recover. No reverse cursed technique to heal = Gojo would be dead and no rematch. Also = no mastering of Red = with no unlocking of Purple 5) Toji referred to himself when he said: “I thought you had already decided to set away such petty pride.” Usually Toji will not fight for free and escape instead of continuing the fight. But in this case Toji didn’t, he continued to confront Gojo for self-affirmation wanting to be the one to defeat Gojo who is the pinnacle of sorcerer world and to repudiate the Zenin clan who rejected him. Megumi mum is not a Zenin. Toji was from the Zenin Clan. Toji said I took my wife name a few episodes ago. Toji specified in this episode, he was rejected by the Zenin because he has no curse energy. Toji loved his wife deeply and she was a good woman but she died awhile back. 6) The name Megumi (惠) means blessings, so when Toji talked about blessings, he was like ‘oh wait, that’s my kid’s name’. 7) He sold his son to the Zenin family not because to get out of the clan. Toji was already originally rejected by the Zenin for having no curse energy. He sold his son back to the Zenin, because he believed in young Megumi's potential to be a real sorcerer and named him "Megumi" for it means blessings. His last words was entrusting Gojo to save his son. 8) Megumi means Blessing. In short, in a symbolic way you can take it as in this encounter Gojo received Toji’s Blessing and Geto received Toji’s Curse. It’s tragic honestly for Geto… Both Gojo and Geto changed. Gojo as we see from the start, he is a prick. He disliked the weak, in his high he even thought of slaughtering everyone of the cult in there. Geto was always the sane, caring and humble. He advocated for the weak. While traumatised, Geto held on to his belief and did not break yet. He was the voice of reason that convinced Gojo from not killing everyone in there. However basically Toji incident spark the beginning of the switch between them. Read the line when Toji spoke when he kick Geto. HINT: You guys lost to a MONKEY LIKE ME Toji gave Geto Monkey PTSD. 🙊

Something significant about the honored one line. The EXACT same line was already used before in the manga, but for some reason they cut it out of the anime when it was clearly meant to be compared since it's the EXACT same quote. When Sukuna cut up Mahito back in episode 12, the little monologue Nanami has about noone in this world being more conceited than Sukuna and him living only guided by his pleasure and displeasure. That inner monologue of Nanami was not Nanami in the manga, but a narrator, no actual character. And he also said that "Throughout heaven and earth, he alone is the honored one." when referring to Sukuna. So there is a debate to be had about who is worthier of the title since it says they ALONE are the honored one, so it can only be one. In my opinion, Gojo is just high on power here and believes himself to be a god, but Sukuna was declared the honored one by the actual narrator. So I think Sukuna is the actual god with Gojo being a human high on power thinking himself to be a god, before he will eventually face a rude awakening. That last part is NOT a spoiler no worries, it's my assumption.

limitless, reversal red, amplification blue, and six eyes are four different things, and no one in the gojo family has ever been born with all four except satoru (i think, i cant remember quite well) six eyes gives him the ability to see the flow of cursed energy in utmost level (it cannot be turned on and off thats why he wears a mask, without it, hell be seeing cursed energy even if its the tiniest bit), it also gives him the ability to control his curse energy very very precisely. limitless slows things down, it is the negative, reversal red speeds things, it is the positive energy, amplification blue uses negative energy to amplify limitless and create voids, its like a black hole that sucks things in. Purple is reversal red and amplification blue combined, in the sub its translated as "imaginary technique", thats because if your constantly rip space infinitely, nothing is left, and nothing cannot be defined, its imaginary mass, i hope this helps.

I just realized in JJK0 Geto said he had to kill/wanted to kill Yuta first to absorb Rika. In this episode, we realize why. He tried to take Toji’s curse, but it didn’t work, because it was still bound to Toji. That’s how he knew he had to kill the owner before he took the spirit. And at the end you see him understand this

Yeah Geto is still a good guy here but you can see from the animation he is in immense pain and internal struggle. His belief was that the strong (sorcerers) should protect the weak (common people), but here he sees all these common people cheering for the death of Amane, which planted the seed of hatred in his heart.

To clarify one thing: Toji did stab Gojo's forehead with the inverted spear of heaven, that is why gojo showed him the healed scar by lifting his hair. The spear forcefully inactivates all cursed techniques [i.e. limitless (infinity)] and not basic cursed energy.
