In Kai, you see more of his "dark" passion for fighting than you ever did in the original Funimation dub

I'm glad you see that, too. Dbz addresses a longstanding character flaw of Vegeta, which is his pride-to-a-fault issue. Goku pushes him to give up the person he was and give in to a better future. I kinda also feel like it also sets him up for his humbling moment when he praises Goku as better than him. Meanwhile, Kai is a little more bland. It's just a reality check but misses the opportunity to build on Vegeta's character, since it is his character flaw that's stopping him from fusing.

It did hit him like a truck, but I feel Dbz was better. It gets to the heart of the issue that's stopping Vegeta from wanting to fuse: his pride-to-a-fault. It's a catalyst moment that pushes Vegeta to look inwards and start asking the big questions. I also feel like it sets him up for his humbling moment when he praises Goku as being better than him.

Dbz “They can’t even die!” That line right there gives vegito better understanding of why he didn’t kill Buu and why they got absorbed to try and save them because he knows they aren’t dead.

@@epic-17 Kid Buu still almost won if it wasn't for Hercule just being there. Vegito freeing Gotenks, Gohan, and Piccolo didn't do anything in that regard. Vegito didn't win anything in that fight.
