the most hilarious thing in dragon ball for me is the fact that Grampa gohan asked master roshi to take good care of his boy and roshi just leaves goku alone in the wild for 3 years at a time until the next martial art tournament 🤣

But he told them to get stronger on their own (both krillin and goku i mean), he taught them all he could to them and now it was time for them to find their own path to strenght, that's what made Roshi a good master, he trusted his students would grow strong without him.

Journey to the West (where Son Goku’s counterpart, Sun Wukong, comes from) is a Buddhist work. The training Goku is getting from Kami and Popo appears to be Zen Buddhist in nature. The idea is that Goku’s strength and speed has plateaued. He’s super strong and super fast, sure. One of the strongest on Earth. But in order for him to go beyond where he is now, he needs to train his mind to be free of distraction. Literally needs to empty his mind completely to achieve true focus.

9:31 In the Japanese version Goku explains he's there because of Kami. The little girl asks what's a Kami, to which someone replies that Kami is Kami, which does not answer her question. Soon, the whole table starts talking about Kami. Originally the reason why the father did a spit take was because one of the kids said they think Kami is better than their father but not their mother, not because he was on a diet, that's why he looks so shocked. One asks what Kami looks like, so they all start making faces, Goku says no, this is what he really looks like. Again, in this scene Goku was trying to look like Kami, not Popo. Instead of saying that is what Popo looks like, Goku then said he was looking for a strong guy around there. One of the boys explains that it must be Yaochun he’s looking for, to which all the kids start loudly agreeing. The eldest daughter explains that the rumor is he’s super strong and fights bears, and one of the sons says he can dodge lightning. Upon hearing this Goku says that’s the guy he’s looking for. For some reason FUNimation decided to completely rewrite this scene to be about squirrels, up until near the end. 12:53 in the Japanese version instead of making a joke about needing a wrench to pick his nose, he says the only thing he has left teach them would be catching girls, that's the reason why Krillin asks him about that at the end, and originally instead of Roshi asking Tenshinhan and Yamucha if they agree him, Roshi noticed them standing awkwardly, as if they were bashful hearing about flirting, either that or they were red in the face thinking about Roshi giving such advice when they were the only people in the room with girlfriends.. In this dub Roshi tells a long winded story that goes nowhere about meeting a nurse, and everyone seems to think it's profound, whereas in the Japanese version he expands on his thoughts about how Yamucha, Krillin, and Tenshinhan should leave Kame House. Roshi speaks of how Goku goes to different places and does different things to make him strong, whereas the rest merely repeat the same actions over and over. Originally Oolong and Puar snuck away because of how angry Roshi sounded, which made them feel awkward to be in the room. Instead teasing Roshi, Bulma was being genuine saying that even he can say something wise once in awhile. For some reason or another FUNimation chose to make this scene a farce.

surprising to see that the Grandpa of those kids were the one that helped Goku on his training by teaching Goku how to fish in the best way possible instead of the guy that Goku beat with one punch .

Oh this is the episode where the kids' dialogue was heavily altered. They were talking about what god is to each of them, not some animals, and goku's description is not about Popo but Kami.

2:43 The thing is, it’s not just the spelling, it’s also the pronunciation. Kame is pronounced “Kah-May” while Kami is pronounced “Kah-Mee”. Remember, when they use the Kamehameha Wave, they say “Kaaaaah! Maaaaay! Haaaa! Maaaay! Haaaaa!” The pronunciation of Kame is the same as the Kame part of Kamehameha.

Here is a shi_load of mistranslation. First, the conversation on the table while there are having dinner. One person ask Goku "why you are here?" Goku said that he is training with god and god sent him here to train. The children start laughing and ask "what does god look like?". Another one said that "he must be grumpy" and then start making weird face. So Goku mocks Kami (god) by doing a much more ugly face. They also ask is Kami greater than his father, and another said mother is more scarier than his father. That is the real conversation at the dinning table. . Also the conversation between Master Roshi and Krillin, Yamsha, Tien is a serious topic about their training attitude. Roshi is scolding them that "Goku is doing everything he could to be able to beat King Piccolo, and now he is training with god. So if you guys expect that what you are doing now (like having a party around the island) is gonna make you overcome Goku. It's pure nonsense. You should travel around the world and experience life to make yourself better." With this serious talk Bulma walk in to appreciate Roshi's advice to his students, and after that Roshi changes the subject about girls he met along the way and make Tien and Yamcha shy. Especially, Tien is quite innocent in these kinda topic. While Krillin know his master very well. . The US just don't care about the true original script and just change whatever they want to mess up the story and characters.

クリスマスが近いという事で、スージーは今年は何のジブリ作品を見るんだろう？と思っています。 今回も原作には無い、アニメオリジナルの話が続きますね。 アイアンメイデンの様な装置って事？！ 悟空が下半身丸出しで歩いている場面ですが、海外版では最初からぼかしているのですか？ それとも、今回スージーが編集してぼかしたのでしょうか？ 悟空は、今回のお爺ちゃんと孫悟飯をダブらせて、感情的にはなりませんね。 何故なら、孫悟飯と再会した時に天国で楽しく過ごしている事を聞いたので、そこに納得しているから。 会えないけど、異国の地で元気にしているぐらいの感覚なんじゃないかな？ アニメオリジナルの要素がたっぷり詰まった回。 そもそもポポが扱うあの様な装置なんて無くてもポポは世界中のどこへでも行けそうな気がする。 だが、アニメは奇妙な装置を用意→それを扱う動作が必要→装置が起動する演出が加わる→どこかへワープ…と、たっぷり時間稼ぎをする事が出来るので、これらを組み込んだ。 無駄に大家族なのもキャラクターが多ければ多いほど、その紹介や会話、描写に時間を稼げるからですね。 亀仙人の女の子を引っかけるテクニックについて、聞き耳を立てる2人の構図。 ヤムチャはともかく、天津飯がそんな事に意識を持っていかれるとは到底思えないので、ここだけでもアニメオリジナルなのが分かりやすい。

Begging you to watch the full original DBZ on crunchyroll over Kai when you get there. OG is much longer, & I’ve watched both, but Kai just feels too fast & I can’t really watch it without missing the OG. Knowing you, I think you’d love the OG more because of the connection with characters. People hate on its voice acting & extra filler content, but I don’t agree. Watching it for the first time was literally mind blowing. Plz watch the OG…🙏 Kai cuts soooooooo much out that I genuinely think you’d love. When I compare the two I always find myself going back to the OG. Plz plz plz plz plzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Honestly it’s good either way, you’ll just miss out on the full experience with Kai imo. I’ll watch either way though

We were purposefully never meant to see gokus training under god to make it more special when we see him grown up and fully trained in the next arc.
