The clone will fight at Goku’s top performance. The best Goku can hope for is a tie. Btw, the hair clone thing is from Journey to the west. In the novel, Sun Wukong just pulls out hundreds of hair to make a clone army.

In the story, Goku tell Popo that this doll is stronger than him. But Popo said he got the exact same strength and speed with Goku, but the huge difference is that the doll is calm. He had no though so he doesn't make unnecessary movement. . . . . . [spoiler] These training are more creative and well though out than what Whis train Goku in Super.

Canon for this franchise is mostly nonsense. Each series has differences enough to arguably be their own canon. Each if the movies can almost be their own canon as they're basically a branch off what if scenario. The OG DB movies are a but weak aside from the tv special. Most of the DBZ movies are worth a watch with a few stinkers.

​@@Whorpse What is and isn't canon gets complicated after a while. Especially with filler episodes and such. The classical canon is the DragonBall manga, then the DragonBall Z movies Battle of Gods and Resurrection F (yes, not the anime, because all of that is part of the manga), then the Dragonball Super anime with the start of the 3rd arc and then the Dragonball Super manga after the ToP arc ... Yes, confusing ... xD But in general, the movies are non canon. Especially not the OG Dragonball movies, as they are mostly just a retelling of the anime.

There are only two dragon ball z movies that are part of the story. The others are like side missions in the dragon ball world. One of the two is a prequel, and the other is more stressful and heartbreaking than King Piccolo arc. But you must dig deeper into the Z adventure so you can recognize a few certain characters and the circumstances that were told.

Though I would recommend watching the Z movies! They are very referenced in culture almost all of them to some degree and if you ever watch DBZA down the road, some of them will come back so it'd give more context there too. The Z movies are more famous than the DB ones too by far. I'd say if you're enjoying DB and DBZ, watch most if not all the Z movies!

I'd argue though that she could watch the first arc or at least the first half dozen of so episodes since something is shown in both the movie and show. The show has a good build up for it while the movie just unleashes it. She seems the type to prefer the build up.

Dragon Ball Z movies aren't canon (and can't really fit in the story) and are written by Toei alone, so they might be better to watch later on the side Since they tend to kinda copy actual DBZ arcs with different spins anyhow it could be a good idea to watch them after the arcs they copy, but you'd need help with a trusted mod to tell you which to do when The only exception are Battle if Gods and Resurrection F, which were made decades after DBZ, written by the original author, but youre far far away from reaching those, they tie into later stuff
