I don't even necessarily think it's a Saiyan thing. Goku always shows respect to people with grit and determination, particularly in the field of martial arts. I think back to the World Tournaments, he was always giving props to other fighters he saw that had attained high mastery or interesting techniques. Often applauding the growth of others even if he had personally surpassed them. I think that even factors into why he has attempted to spare enemies so often, he wants everyone to become their best selves.

​@@gabrieldevoogel6225the only thing i recall Goku having in Z that could be considered hax would be Instant Transmission. most characters are stupid fast in Dragon Ball by this point, but Goku is the only mortal who has true instant teleportation. but other than hax, he has access to a lot of techniques, since he's the kind of character who can learn pretty much any move just by seeing it. for example, he picked up the kamehameha after the first time he saw Roshi do it, and this was in the first arc when energy blasts were non-existent, the kamehameha was the only ki blast there was in the series until way, way later. he copies a lot of martial arts techniques in the OG Dragon Ball tournaments, but most of them were left behind in Z. i don't remember him using other character's techniques in Z, other than the Solar Flare.
