But now that I'm older and understand the sheer magnitude of what they were fighting and what would be required of them in order to fight it, I now understand that it took some serious tough love in order to get the message across to these two children. I also have to point out that Goku being harsh is actually a huge sign of respect. He knows how strong Goten and Trunks are, and he knows that if he trains them properly, they could very easily become two of the strongest warriors on planet Earth.

Even though I wasn't a huge Buu Saga fan, I feel these two really got shafted in the long run, and somewhat nerfed later on too. If they can do fusion and go Super Saiyan 3, there's no reason why they can't at least be SSJ2 by themselves and or be fused in things other than filler arcs or episodes. I never liked how they both basically reached super saiyan so young off-screen, like Goten's moment would've been perfect when Chi-Chi is killed by Super Buu, and Kid Trunks when his father died so basically here when he woke up. They had a good fight with Android 18 and I wish they'd done something else besides get absorbed and not even be available for the final fight (same with Gohan). However, I thought there dynamic was great, even at the start of Super where they show some of it, but aside from future trunks/zamasu we never got anything outside of filler. That one episode where kid trunks really showed he was Vegeta's son against "future trunks" was great though, we need a lot more of that.

It just goes to show how strong Goku is. I'm sure it's just as hard on him as it is on the boys. Perhaps even more so, knowing that not only has his son been killed, but he himself is powerless to do anything about it. Yet he's able to repress that pain, and focus on what needs to be done. Of course, given their age, we can't blame Goten and Trunks for now handling the news as well as Goku. But that's all the more reason why Goku needs to hide his own pain. In order to guide them by example, and be their rock so that they too can overcome that loss.

This scene is very impactful and subtle in ways most fans never even imagined. Some of these concepts fans know of. Such as.. the incredible Power Level of Mr. Popo. There are many odd characters and mysterious beings within the Dragon Ball cosmos who are infinitely more powerful than Goku. I always do a rise this long before Dragon Ball super ever came into existence. With the introduction of dragon ball super we have the God of destruction and the angels. The pinnacle of power. Mr. Popo is one of these Beings. Has anybody ever noticed he never powered up and then the entire time we’ve known him. That’s a trait the angels do they never have to power up because they are so infinitely OP. Also it is against the cosmic rules for them to engage in a fight seriously. This sounds like something that could be very much true for Mr. Popo as well. That and Mr. Popo has immortality he has been alive since or possibly before the earth was created. The earth is hundreds of billions to trillions of years in existence. He took on to Super saying it. Who are exceedingly stronger than Super Saiyan Goku and final form frieza on planet Namek. I’d place them equal to a cell Junior power level wise. Mr. Popo speed blitzed Trunks, but was able to hold him back. Went to block Goten, after a brief moment of an exchange, Goten managed to knock Mr. Popo back but he was unharmed. This scene is very telling, because this shows that Goten has far more potential or higher potential than Trunks. Because he was able to at least over power Mr. Popo whereas trunks could not, and technically trunks has a higher power level. Meeting in this brief moment go tan tapped into a portion of his inner potential that surpassed Trunks. The final nail in the coffin is this. Goku and his entire life has never beaten Mr. Popo in a fight, need to remind everyone, Goku is the main character of Dragon Ball.
