Im very much a novice at refining and chemistry like this. Im not completely sure about the ratios and many other technical aspects. The best advice I can give you is don't do this. I had a heated experiment of acid explode on me... hot acids and deadly gases are created during these procedures and when things go wrong you can lose your face and be lucky to have not lost your life. Don't mess with this stuff if you don't already KNOW what you are doing.

Sorry for my delayed response... the solution I used to drop the gold powder out of solution is sodium metabisulfite dissolved in distilled water.

Use strongest hcl available... 1 liter hcl and use millilitres of nitric. Very little nitric with a lot of hcl

Noting false about the title... If you have an idea or knowledge about what you doubt, feel free to ask about whatever you like. Just please try to use more than one word such as "Why" to ask a little more specific of a question than just... Why? The chemistry I was doing in this video is exactly what is indicated by the title so there's nothing false about anything worded or demonstrated as you apparently assume.
