Hello Glenda, I can't thank you enough for the comments you have made and I truly appreciate them.........The problem with trying to offer so many different interests under one channel is that it isn't good for the viewer who wants to subscribe for one particular subject. It's all a bit of fun for me at the end of the day and a place to share the experience or knowledge with other people. I don't even claim a penny from all the adverts you have to get through either from my channel. I hate to use the cliche' but we spend a long time dead and I am a big believer in making the world turn around each day for a reason and with some purpose. Take care and stay healthy Glenda.

Looks like Flourite that little crystal you found, not sure if its the camera or if it has a slight pink hue, if it is Flourite a UV light source will make it fluoresce, its very commonly found around lead deposits and lead mines. Not surprising really considering there are a few old lead mines around the pennines, the hard bit is determining if its a glacial deposit or from the local host rock. Thanks for the upload.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
Hello Phil. It won't crush that's for sure and I found it on the moorland section. I have ruled out any contaminated equipment too because I used everything on the lower stream for about 3 hours and found nothing worth while. It is really small also the photos are with a macro setting. If it is gold I suspect it's from elsewhere and not local although if at one time in the past this place was a huge delta depositing sand, grit and silts there could be a chance of the sedimentary layers trapping fine gold.
@GaryMcKinnonUFO4 жыл бұрын
At 15:30, yes that is odd-looking bedrock. There was a lot of geological chaos in the past so lots of chunks of land must have been thrown around by icebergs etc.

What's interesting about the online reports and one in a recently-published book on where to find gold in the UK, is that the quote about the Victorians is always the same, word for word. That tells me that the quote had one single source. Single source quotes make me suspicious. IF there was gold there, then you'd get several different sources, and likely evidence of a minor gold-rush. You know as well as I do how difficult it is to get rid of all trace of gold. The speck you found; probably transported there by a glacier from some eroded-outcrop of auriferous rock. But does Piethorne have gold in the area? I'd say not. It might be a story that someone's made up, or a leg-pull.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
Well put there Dan, I couldn't have explained it any better, and if I did it would have come out wrong lol. I think that any gold found here will be from one of the ice sheets and travelled south on the journey. There are irratics all over these moors and interestingly, not too far from here, Igneous rock deposits probably from the lake District have been found. I have researched a place not a million miles from here too, but nearer to Derbyshire where there could be potential for gold. It might be found within the Pyrite though. I need to look on the old maps and see where a good water course is to propsect.

Awesome video and have subscribed. What drone/camera are you using? Also is it using gps position holding as it stays really steady even though it's windy.

Thanks for watching and subscribing Fuzzy...It's always appreciated. I used the DJI Spark and it had a Gps lock on form the take off. It has a 2 axis gimbal which helps with the stabilisation.

Lead mines in a valley East of Chorley were mined around the Napoleonic wars. No idea of gold but presume that counts as mineralised rock.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
Yes Chris and the Romans mined over near Horwich at Anglezarke which is a place i would to try. I think it was similar over in the trough of Bowland where the monks mined for lead too. Thanks for the comments, cheers.

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures If you haven't already have a look near what Google maps says is Wellington Crash Memorial after following the river up from Yarrow reservoir. The remnants of lead mines are labelled and explained on signs.

Another nice video. We travelled from Warrington to go panning up east of Kendal in to the Yorkshire Dales. Found a number of small bits of gold from only a few pans. Will take a sluice up next time.

I was in that neck of the woods yesterday. How far North did you get (without giving too much away) were you nearer to the hills and the feeder streams of the main river.

@@jonojones78 You might want to look for a sluice with the dream mat set up. Thanks for the reply pal. I saw a few guys at the river having a camp fire but wasn't sure if they were panning.

Rapes Hill is after the reservoir I filmed and then loops back around onto the Pennine way eventually bringing you to the Windy Hill transmitter. There are some cracking MTB trails all around there

Thanks 👍. It's a fine balance making a video about gold panning and finding the best part of nothing. It's great to cross things off the list I guess but people want to see colour in the pan. The challenge is to edit it and keep the video moving along nicely. I still can't go to Scotland or Wales yet either !

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures even though you told me in a previous conversation you had no results I really enjoyed the hunt. knowing that feeling that the next pan slightly deeper could be the one that leads the way to your own private spot.

I think the monks mined for lead around there Adam. Have you tried it your self with a few pans prospecting the area.

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures not tried. There is an old mine there. Copper, lead, fluorite and silica. Some silver found. A stream there as well. It’s an exposed section of the Chatburn Limestone. Lots of other potential locations in The Trough.

I have an old report from this area where there was a mines royal lease for about 20 odd years. Thanks for the heads up. I cycled passed here two weeks ago. It's like a mini version of the Mennock

Thanks for the feedback IsleFile. The sluice is a Ruthless mining one but I don't think they are available at the moment. The Caledonian sluice has a nice top mat and feed zone but all sluices have their losses. All the best my friend.

If there no black mineral sand there is no gold P KINSEY
@MrDazP1adv3ntures4 жыл бұрын
We are looking for the heavy particles that will drop out of the flow such as black sand. Some rivers may not have black sands but have other heavies won't be black. These are indicators that you could be on the right line. When it's really good you hit a pay streak where there will be gold, lead, iron and, hematite and all kinds of things settling out. On this trip the general material was broken down sands and grits from the local geology with the odd bits of lead.
