That cloudy stuff in your rinse solution was Silver chloride. You used Tap water to rinse after the burning. Using Tap water makes silver chloride if you have silver in your Metal. Always used Distilled Water to rinse if your sure theirs no Silver in your Metal that you refine next. Just a little tip I’ve learned from other Refiners.

I’m joking, doing better than I have in the past, I just don’t have patience to wait months on the processes you do, there no way I could hold out that long

lol. I totally understand. I don’t have as much time as I’d like for my hobby but I try to make the best of it. Sometimes not moving through a process as quickly as I can causes “delay issues”, which are always recoverable but take extra time. Thanks a bunch for the view, comment, and the support. I appreciate you.

Make sure you stannous test that copper(ii) chloride leech. Stuff nearly always manages to pull a lil bit of gold into the solution whenever I run a long one like that... That cloudiness when you added water was silver chloride coming out... A little tip when you're cleaning going from acid wash the water wash do I wash with ammonia solution followed by a couple water washes but that'll do is that'll get rid of any silver chloride still behind that was a long or fine seems like it started in one season and ended and another LOL. But you did it quite thorough job. That's why I enjoy watching your channel

Excellent video and a great result 👍. I haven’t even thought about using HCL for getting the Borax away until now. Thanks for enlightening me about it🙏🏻. I have the same magnetic stirrer as you (SH-2). Are you happy with yours? Mine has worked flawlessly for over a year, until the engine stopped working last week. But the manufacturer sent a new engine straight away on pure goodwill, so now I'm hoping for another year😅. You are very educational when you show how you do👍. Will definitely follow your channel😃. Thanks /Dennis

Thanks so much for the view and the comment! I love my magnetic stir/hot plate. I think it’s worked fantastic since I got it and I’ve used it for a couple of years now. My only issue with it is when I get a little crazy and ask it to stir too much Material. 😂

Am I wrong or isnt hydrochloric acid thought to put a little gold in solution when dealing with leaf like that? I swear I heard that somewhere. To be fair though, I do have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast, so I might be way off. Lol…
@KKRRenewables Жыл бұрын
Hahhaha. Me too! I have not heard that HCl will put Au in solution. But I’ve also been told hot HCl will dissolve anything 😊. If it does dissolve some gold, stock pot will catch it.

6:41 bronze or brass because typically Gold filled is Hollow gold tubes filled with Jewelers brass in which case there wouldn't be tin but rather zinc and I don't know that that would affect your calculations or methodology any but wanted to point that out

I have a few questions… did you add peroxide with the initial HCl to dissolve the base metals, what concentration nitric acid do you use, and what chemical are you using to denox? Thanks in advance…hope you’re still out there in internet land… I need to be able to do this!🤞
@KKRRenewables5 ай бұрын
Hey there! I still work a 9 to 5 job so I can’t always respond the same day or quickly, but I will respond 😀. I use 68% nitric acid. HCl is roughly 32%. And no, I did not use any H2O2. The reason is that I used left over Cu(II)Cl from a previous experiment. You never NEED H2O2 with this method. Aquarium bubbler is good enough but it takes the process longer to get going. To denox, use Sulfamic acid. I recommend you join the goldrefiningforum.com and read read read. This stuff is dangerous if not taken with appropriate safety precautions.
@thmspl14 ай бұрын
So I’ve been reading on the recommended forum but maybe using wrong terms in my search??? Will my eyeglass frames lose their “shape” when all the base metals are gone, or no? How do I know when the base metals are all dissolved? My HCl has been filtered/refreshed and is now just a very light green but the frame cuttings are still intact. For the record, I am in the process of reading “the book”😅 I’ve had a year of inorganic and a year of organic chem in college, though more years ago than I’d like to admit and NOT a boost to my GPA😉. I am well aware of the safety precautions necessary and have a basic understanding of the reactions involved. I normally would not be doing this, but I am the eye doctor at a non-profit clinic for the handicapped. The Lions Club is hoping to learn to recover the gold from the frames they have collected as a fundraiser for the clinic. They have tried sending them in to a refinery but were nonplussed by the turnaround time and funds received. Am really hoping this can work because the income would be awesome for the clinic.

Whe doing AP solution, I use to add a bit of 30% peroxide (20-50 ml) when solution turns brown (once a day), goes to green and is hot, as Cu+ turns into Cu2+, I can disolve chunky pins in 5-7 days... Doing it in 4 liters glass jar to see, whats up inside. EDIT: Man you use HCl like you have some HCl well... I am like 10 ml in 25 ml beacher to clean the bead...🙂
@KKRRenewables11 ай бұрын
It’s true, I have a well😎. Just kidding of course. I prioritize the ease of beaker availability over HCl(aq) because I know I’m going to use that HCl(aq) for pins soon. Thank you for the view/ comment, and the chuckle.

@KKRRenewables Жыл бұрын
I would have thought that but it already had HCl in solution.
@TroubledOnePaydirt Жыл бұрын
@@KKRRenewables is it possible some silver survived the HcI and reacted with the water? I swear that looks like silver to me. But, keep in mind, I am just a novice armchair refiner. Lol… never done it myself. So…. I may be waaaayyyy off here.

3:26 you replaced the acid when you should have replaced or more accurately supplemented your hydrogen peroxide instead
@KKRRenewables Жыл бұрын
Once. You start your process and you have a copper chloride leech you can certainly refresh or replace and spike with the old solution. Either is good. I would not recommend adding more H2O2 though. It’s only to provide the oxygen and my bubbler is doing that. I think this is right anyway ;)
