Yal should listen to the first two songs of this story. This is the third song of that story. She was also a vocal teacher to a lot of our faves including Minnie Riperton

Betty was a Formidable Force. She was also a vocal coach to many artists. I remember She was Danity Kane's (MTV Makin the Band) vocal coach. Sorely Missed. Def recommend Deniece Williams, Chanté Moore , Of Course Minnie Ripperton , Lisa Fischer, and also Shanice.

You should react to Rachelle Ferrell singing "With open arms" live at the Apollo. Great whistle note there too ! And a phenomenal sustained note at the end !

I am sure Minnie Ripperton “Loving You” was the first time for those notes😏

Well if you want to hear the original high pitch songbird checkout some Minnie Riperton!

Betty Wright, Minnie Ripperton, and Denise Williams can do that whistle register( that's what the high pitch sound is called) better than anyone!😊

Mariah was NOT the first to do whistle notes nor is she the queen of whistle notes. She’s just popular

All 80s babies knew when she did it. We ain't no fools, she knew better too could've said it at the time, for us we heard Minnie R, Denice W, Betty W and Shirley M do it. And those I actually heard within my lifetime, there are others. Mariah and Brenda k Star taught me something in the early 90s before they diva'd her up.
