The Golden Canyon Trail is located in Death Valley National Park along the Badwater Road, just 3.6 miles from the Furnace Creek Visitor Center. There are a couple different variations of this trail, but when we hiked it, we hiked to Red Cathedral which leads to the base of a large cliff and then a short walk further are amazing views of the surrounding landscape. The Golden Canyon Trail to Red Cathedral is 3 miles round trip with 577 feet of elevation gain. Along the way, you'll see some white mineral deposits on the side of the canyon wall. These crystals grew as mineral-laden water evaporated.

The colors are really sticking out again the blue sky. It is steep at the very end, it is fairly flat otherwise. That's a great trail in the morning as there isn't much shade. Thank you so much, Shane!

You are such a good observer Steve! The story behind it is that a man had been scrambling up the rocks on the side of the trail (not on the official trail) and couldn't go back down... He wasn't in danger as far as we knew, I think the ambulance was "just in case". Glad you haven't needed it so far :D Thanks so much!

The viewpoint is where one needs to be careful, the rest of the trail was easy. Death Valley is great, there is a lot to see on very short trails. This is actually my favorite hike in Death Valley! It is so beautiful with all the different colors all around you! I remember the viewpoints being so incredible! I really hope to come back out and do this hike again in the Winter. Little man looked like he was too cool for school with his sunglasses 🕶 😎 😄! Awesome video guys!
