Yay Golden Grades! The worst Christmas gift I received was the Barron's Guide to Colleges I received my senior year of high school. That's something you give as a general gift not a Christmas present. I also had to return the computer my dad gave me that Christmas as my mom had said "no" to me getting one and my dad didn't take my hints when we went shopping for them and I acted totally disinterested. I would like to give the evil eye to all the "Karens" of the world (just found out what that meant a couple weeks ago). A smaller measure of discontinuity lies with Blanche's initials - in "Take It With You" she is Blanche Elizabeth Deveraux (BED) but in the episode with Mammy Watkins she calls her Blanche Marie Hollingsworth (which would be BMD after marriage to George Deveraux).

Nope nope, you did not miss anything. We did some lists a few months ago and rolling back into production. We have been doing live streams of trivia every other week or so just for fun. How are you doing?

My worst gift was nothing. 🤣 My choir class senior year drew secret Santas and I got absolutely nothing. My Santa never revealed themselves, maybe they didn’t even come to class. Of course the girl I drew didn’t fare much better; she got $5 and a bottle of Sprite, because I was so broke in high school. She was only a freshman tho and she seemed excited about the gifts. I joked that she could put the $5 in the vending machine and have six Sprites, one for every day left until Christmas. She said nah, she was going to put it toward some Hello Kitty stationery she saw at the Sanrio shop at the mall. High school in the early 2000s was a crazy, wild time.

Although I agree that Rose is harsh on Blanche because she thinks that she slept with Charlie I think I see why Rose reacted that way. Of course Blanche's reputation for being loose made it easy for Rose to be angry at her (Just think of how Rose treated her in 72 Hours). Also, Rose always tried to make Charlie out to be better than he was (think The Truth Will Out) and she also felt pretty uncomfortable if anyone in her family stepped outside the norm of proper etiquette. She was basically "square ." Think about her comment to Brigid in Family Affair about wanting "her first time to be special" and Brigid responding "It was. Four years ago." Rose was really uncomfortable with that. This doesn't mean I agree with Rose. There are several episodes where the friends react petty or cruel because they'll believe a stranger over their best friend.

1. When I first discovered The Golden Girls in middle school, I had so many classmates and teachers I wish I had the evil eye curse for. 2. As experienced as Blanche is with men, how did she honestly think the car scam was going to work?

Ayyyyyyyyyyyye. Really asking me to pick between two of the worst children. I am going to say that I think Caroline is perhaps worse only BECAUSE and this is a very slim only because, Rose's daughter was under a false impression of her family that was not entirely her own doing- like she was lead to believe a certain thing about Charlie/her dad that Rose didn't squash earlier in life and let grow. Caroline, on the the other hand, doesn't even give Rose a chance.

You know what I never realized that about all of the relatives! I mean I never like Caroline because she was so overtly terrible, but thinking back on it a lot of the other relatives were also pretty bad, at least for the first parts of their episodes. Dorothy's son Michael is one that definitely comes to mind.

Riiiiiiiiiiiight? I am starting to think about how to approach it because I think there is something to it. Each one of them had a terrible relationship (or few) with a family member. So what is it saying about family? Dorothy and her sister Gloria. Then her son Michael. Plus Stan, he can count. Sophia and her sister Angela. Blanche and her granddaughter, her grandson David. She also didn't have a great relationship with David's parents. And she and Rebecca had a rough patch, though maybe Rebecca wasn't so bad. Rose and Kirsten. Rose and her sister Lily.

Worst gift: One year, my step dad's parents gave me a football shaped cup holder that was designed to sit on top of the arm of an easy chair, and had a pouch that hung over the side for remotes and magazines. It was 1996 and the age of the box screamed 1986. I am certain it was a last minute re-gift, especially if you ask yourself what 13 year old has an easy chair? Haha

One year for Christmas my dear grandmother bought me a deer blanket, it was this fuzzy blanket that had a buck’s head on it. Nothing about this blanket was related to me. Eventually it became a wall decoration in my party basement in college. The many nights I spent drunkingly explaining why I had a deer blanket hung up on the wall, after drinking too many gin and tonics, means that this might actually be the best gift ever.

I really liked “Look Me Over”. Season 7 had a lot of wacky plots which I enjoy. And I love the imagery of Blanche in bed with a giant orange. And, I understand why Rose would be mad at Blanche and not Charley. Charley is dead. She cant be mad at him.

You can be mad at a dead person. Absolutely. And finding out your spouse cheated on you is a good reason to be. Remember the episode Blanche found out George not only cheated on her, but got his mistress/ONS pregnant? His son came to talk to her. She was furious and had every right to be.

I think it could have a lot of potential. Either some kind of list situation about terrible children or a video essay about them, because I think when I really look at it in total, very few children/relatives were decent. Each one of them had a terrible relationship (or few) with a family member. Also yeah, Kirsten. UGH. I dislike her so so much.

This is one of the best Christmas present I ever got but if the afterwards was one of the saddest. I left my mom at a young age 21 years old. Of course as a kid the last thing you want to get is clothes. My parents always taught me great gifts considering there was six of us to buy for but when my mom would pick out clothes I never really liked them. Finally that last Christmas tree got this really cool almost touch work baggy shirt that was really funky and I loved it. unfortunately I lost her the following Valentine's Day

They were kind of quick to turn on Blanche a few times over the years, particularly when it involved her sex life. Like that episode where she went to see the guy running for city councilman. The girls were helping with the campaign and Blanche just went to deliver some papers late at night he had forgot. They ended up talking for a bit, she helped him pick out an outfit for the next day then she went home. A picture of her leaving his place ended up in the paper and it acted like they had slept together and she was sneaking out late at night, which wasn't true. None of the others believed she was innocent, and it wasn't til he said nothing happened that they realized she was innocent. And it took some prodding on his part to come clean. That bothered me, to be honest. Blanche may have slept around but never intentionally with a married man. I'd love it if you did a video on their kids/grandkids. I can't think of one I really liked. Edited to add: The episode I was thinking of was Strange Bedfellows, 3x07.

They constantly insulted each others appearances, weight, etc. (Especially Dorothy), belittling Rose, shaming Blanche. While sure it's enjoyable and funny parts of it i would never do them to any of my friends

I recently joined a theater group that’s been performing scripts from tv shows as plays online and we’ve decided to do some Golden Girls episodes. Generally we try to pick episodes that don’t rely too much on set changes and are driven by the dialogue. I suggested The Case of Libertine Belle, Ladies of the Evening, and The Engagement. What do you think? What are some episodes you might recommend?

Has anyone else caught that Gladys' (Peggy Pope) earrings change from shot to shot in the big daddy scene where she tells the girls that she has been the one messing with her husband? Also BED...Blanche Elizabeth Devereaux, but her nanny calls her Blanche Marie Hollingsworth. I always tell myself Marie is the middle name of one of Blanche's sisters and Ruby Dee's character just mixed them up.

Totally agree with the "Hey, look me over" I mean Rose has been friends with Blanche for 7 years or more she also should be a better friend and stop blaming Blanche I feel terrible I mean they did this several times like in season 3 episode Strange Bedfellows and many others... Also Totally agree with triple play for being honest I kinda dislike Miles character arc at the beginning I was ok with his persona as a College Profesor but later they messed him up I was sick and tired to watch him on screen also I feel in this case Rose deserves better... I love that scene in the other episode with all the girls went for Dorothy even herself. That was pure comedic gold and priceless Although I feel but for Dorothy too... The Christmas episodes on the golden girls I never really enjoyed them except for the season 2 episode the first Christmas they could fly back with their families💕💕I really love it. But this episode has a message and a real situation that many people lives nowadays.. and Big Daddy episode is amazing when Blanche said Fiddle dee dee I mean lol and When rose said the whole scenario is like watching Gone with the wind omg😊😊😊Thank you for this episode of Golden Grades this is my favorite KZbin series and I can't wait for another episode!. I didn’t care for them switching actors for big daddy....they had terrible continuity in that respect. Actress for Gloria , roses daughters as well as Sophias’ children. They couldn’t keep the story straight as to whether she had two or three...Gloria wasn’t at Phil’s funeral .
