Well a third of us are obese, another third overweight and 6% morbidly obese. Nothing seems to be working. Shaming and blaming are actually helpful because it gives the individual a chance to take a corrective action

I love Betty White but nobody could’ve been Blanche like Rue. The hair, the mannerisms, the voice inflections, the accent…one of my favorite tv characters ever. Dorothy’s processing of how promiscuous Blanche was never gets old 😂😂😂😂

Knowing Betty was talking about Allan during the birthday cake scene always makes it extra special. Betty loved that man like no other, and it's easy to see how she channeled that into her performance.

Let's meet the cildren of the Golden Girls. Dorothy: We meet Kate twice and Michael thrice. Sophia: Of course there's Dorothy and Gloria we see twice but we never see Phil. Rose: We meet Kirsten twice. Brigid once. We never meet Adam or Janella. Blanche: We meet both Janet and Rebecca. But never meet Biff, Doug, Chip or Matthew. I find it funny that the one who was most concerned about her physical appearance had six children. 😏 Anyone I missed? Please speak up.😊

I don't think Lily should have been on the list. I wanted to slap the toupee off of Ernie when he ditched Rose for his ex-wife. And Ted was a jerk in the same vein as Ernie.😊

If it was 1912 and Sophia was 82 in 1986, then she would have been born in 1904. She would have been Eight when she had the affair with Picasso. She DEFINITELY made that story up. Ages and dates were always a conundrum on this show.😖

I really love "What a Difference a Date Makes" John Neretti would have been nice for Dorothy as a more serious character had she not married Lucas. We're getting into some really excellent episodes and I can't wait to see what the top ten will be. Looking forward to more! Happy New Year. 😊

I think you've confused Sophia's room with Dororhy's room. From what I remember (and I watched recently in "Old Friends") Sophia's room is smaller, light in color and has a small dressing table at the end of the bed. Dorothy's room is the dark furniture with the tall dressers on either side of the window. Seeing that Dorothy's almost a foot taller than her mother those tall dressers would be in Dorothy's room. Two of my favorite episodes are here. "To Catch a Thief" and "Blind Date." What's really funny in "Thief" is when Sophia passes gas and Rose points it out, it's the only time I caught Betty White stifling a laugh at Estelle Getty's response.😅😅😅 In "Blind Date" John Quinn was another character I wish had been brought back for Blanche despite the fact that he was blind. I loved their relationship.

Of the five "That Old Feeling" is my favorite. Again, a dramatic Blanche is everything. And again, her losing out in the end makes me so sad. 😢 What I look for in a man is a great sense of humor and laid back personality. Physically: Not hairy. Nice hands. No sausage fingers. Hands, thin and athletic with some veins. And, probably the strangest, a nice bump on the bridge of the nose maybe from being broken. I don't know why, but that makes my toes curl. Oh, and a rock hard butt ain't bad, either! 😊

I wish you had spent a little more time talking about the "A" storyline in "The Beep, Beep, Beep of the Tom, Tom" since this is a big adjustment that Blanche has to face in her life, instead of focusing on the "B" storyline of Rose's diet gimmicks. Other than that, some very good episodes here.

Although I agree that Rose is harsh on Blanche because she thinks that she slept with Charlie I think I see why Rose reacted that way. Of course Blanche's reputation for being loose made it easy for Rose to be angry at her (Just think of how Rose treated her in 72 Hours). Also, Rose always tried to make Charlie out to be better than he was (think The Truth Will Out) and she also felt pretty uncomfortable if anyone in her family stepped outside the norm of proper etiquette. She was basically "square ." Think about her comment to Brigid in Family Affair about wanting "her first time to be special" and Brigid responding "It was. Four years ago." Rose was really uncomfortable with that. This doesn't mean I agree with Rose. There are several episodes where the friends react petty or cruel because they'll believe a stranger over their best friend.

I hear you on that. I agree there are many instances where they will believe a total stranger over their friend and I absolutely hate that.

"Transplant" is an early dramatic episode for Blanche. This was the episode that endeared me to her. Even though she was selfish, she heeded Sophia's words and decided to give her sister her kidney. The part where she and Virginia dish on their sister Charmaine is the best. Talking about her freaky internal organs.😅😅 "Under the Big Top" isn't a favorite just because I have never found clowns to be funny. Dick Van Dyke played a clown in one of my least favorite episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show "Happy Birthday and Too Many More." I'm just not a clown fan.

All I know is "Not Another Monday" and "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Sophia" should have been switched. Sophia becoming a nun, even a novice, is so far-fetched it's ludicrous. Have you ever watched "The Nun's Story"? (A reference to the "Beauty and the Beast" episode ) a woman doesn't become a nun just because she asks to be one. Also, Sophia had a lot of friends named either Agnes or Gladys. It got confusing at times.😅

I'm not afraid of anything except death....and everything else!😅😅 I would have ranked "Bedtime Story" a little lower only because- and don't get me wrong, I love Rose- Rose irritates me in this episode. Especially the annoying fear when she hears about the two escaped convicts in GEORGIA, of all places! That type if irrational fear has always bothered me.

Part 1: I agree with you 100%. I loved the "Mrs. George Devereaux " episode after I found out it was a dream. Even the absurdity of Waggoner and Bono falling head over heels for Dorothy didn't trigger a "dream" episod for me. I just thought it was weird. A confession here. Blanche is my favorite character in the show because of the more Southern Gothic dramatic episodes she gets. I think Rue is an excellent dramatic actress and I wish I'd seen her in more dramatic roles. Part 2: I spent time in the emergency room of my local hospital four times with kidney stones. Finally after all these attacks ( over two years) I had surgery and now take medication and changed my diet to prevent them. I haven't had an attack in three years.😊

I watched the "Family Affair" episode recently and really liked how Michael acted maturely, apologizing to his family and friends for his roll in the hay with Rose's daughter. He seemed to have a good heart and a good head on his shoulders. So, to see him acting like a spoiled brat in "All That Jazz" really turned me off to the character. He was actually acting a lot like his father, so I guess we were just seeing another facet of his character. I liked him in "Family Affair" and "Mixed Blessings." I believe Michael should have been about 32 in the "Mixed Blessings " episode even though Dorothy says he's 23. The inconsistency of the age of Dorothy's children was just one of many continuity problems on this show.😠
