as a kid this was my favorite level, and it mostly due to the music, but as someone who loves to speedrun I hate trying to speedrun this level, but it is fun to just play regularly. It definitely sounded a lot more intense than what the original sounds like back years and years ago from what I remember, as in like when I listened to aztec for the first time this is what it sounded like. And I can certainly say this remaster is pretty damn accurate to it used to how I imagined it, every beat just has like an intense beat making the song sound like what it should have back then. Especially at 1:34 like that dark bass choir sent chills down my spine. Glad on how well this came out and how it adds that futuristic aztec temple vibe.

@prestongehrig2824 hello, thankyou, I'm glad you liked how this one turned out. I wanted to make the big timpani drums a little more present in this remake cause they just make it sound epic. Glad it brought some memories back 😁

This level is such a notorious spike in difficulty that I'm pretty sure it even trips up Graslu occasionally. That difficulty makes things so tense that you genuinely feel it when you start the launch sequence and the X track kicks in, especially if you only have a little bit of health left and you need to hold out against the infinitely-respawning enemies. You're finally on the last track of all the single-player levels, and Egyptian is a god damn good one. I have a bit of a request for that track, there's a really slick baseline that starts at around the 0:18 mark that leads into the main melody, can you make sure that gets emphasized? I love that part so much, and some remixes get it right, while others sort of let it get drowned out too much by other instruments. I can totally understand you wanting to move onto tracks from other games, as much we all love Goldeneye, you've spent a good 2 years on all these tracks, so I get wanting to move onto something else. If I could make a suggestion or two, Perfect Dark is a natural follow-up, or if I may even be so bold to suggest Runescape.

@SayVandelay yeah I saw one if his playthroughs and he only just scraped through 😬 the X track is very fitting for the end of this level! I'll definitely make sure to make it present in the mix. Quite similarly, a few of the Aztec remixes I listened to seemed to just not include the pizzicato bass strings, they're very subtle in the original, but they add so much to the feel if the track. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll definitely keep them in mind! Thank you for being on this journey with me!!

@no_alternative9071 oh yeah he is a pretty cool boss. I wish they added more little boss fights throughout the game. I know it wouldn't stay true to the film, but it still would've been cool. Thankyou for listening. Sorry you were waiting a long time for this one.

My favorite non X track in the game. Let's go! I loved the slow chime you did in the beginning. Really adds to the atmosphere. Despite how truly difficult this level is, I think the music helped me enjoy it. It's a track unlike anything else in the game, and I really like that it stays true to the name of the level. Amazing stuff as usual. Looking forward to Citadel!

Hey thankyou! I uploaded a version yesterday but quickly deleted it as the idea popped into my head to put that little chime in. Oh yeah, my first impressions when playing this level was just how well the music fitted. Especially that X track when the timer started for the rocket launch, I was well anxious.

Your work is INSANELY AWESOME! Downloaded all of the tracks you have up for Goldeneye. Thank you for this! 👍 You are 100% killing these tracks! 🎯No doubt about it. I heard that you take requests of tracks in other games. Is Perfect Dark - Chicago Stealth doable? 🤔 That one has always been a favorite. 🤣

@KenosisMetanoia hey thankyou!! That means alot does that. At some point I will put all the tracks in a folder and make them available in Flac format so you'll be able to hear them in even higher quality. Yeah I'll check that one out definitely!

This is a strange track. I like it of course and your work but something about it feels different to the rest of the soundtrack, including Egypt. I suppose the level itself is very different too being set inside an Aztec temple+spaceport attached but I don't think they look like that. Then again I can't say I've seen inside many of them so who knows :D. Seen pictures though. I think its fair to say this is the hardest level in the game. Especially first time because there's a lot of beginners traps, don't go down the hole in the middle, knowing the drone gun locations and opening the exhaust BEFORE starting the countdown. I know first time I camped around the launch starting machine and had to leave my spot to open the exhaust and died horribly. In hindsight though, that ladder leading up to the exhaust open/close button is horribly designed. Enemies can basically teleport up and down it and can easily hit you while climbing it.
@mattspence13374 ай бұрын
@Peachrocks5 yeah it is, I thought that as soon as I heard it. It uses most of the instruments from other tracks, but its the melodies I think. I really like the constant marching snare giving it that military feel. I think I prefer the X track overall. See I played this very late on, I never had chance on the N64, those levels were always blacked out for me, I never even knew how to unlock them. But I can't imagine playing this level on the N64, it was hard enough just on the PC Emulator and yeah I agree with the ladder being horribly designed.

Given your avatar, I'd love to hear your take on some of the iconic fallout tunes. The main theme from fallout 3/4 and new vegas starting as a cover before moving ramping up into something more energetic. And I'm not sure what youtube thinks about covers, but a proper mix of big iron using the things you've learned working on goldeneye. Perhaps giving it the dam treatment with footage of ghost town gunfight as if it's telling the story of the courier?
@mattspence13374 ай бұрын
@Wanderlust2430 hey that sounds like such a cool idea, I never even considered the Fallout soundtrack, even with it being one of my favourite series.
