Matt Spence, I kind of didn’t play Aztec or Egyptian when I was young, so I see that reason. But when revisiting the game all those years later, I didn’t think those levels would have great music. Your remakes of the Goldeneye soundtrack have been spot on and have the spirit of the original with a modern updated feel. If there was an option of Goldeneye with putting remakes of the same song, I wouldn’t mind playing the game with all of your remakes. I enjoyed every song on the soundtrack. Excellent work, my friend.
@mattspence13376 ай бұрын
@486251793 ahh thankyou so much!! It honestly means a great deal to hear yourself and others say that. If I could find a way to add these remakes into the XBLA version, that'd be pretty sweet.

This level always creeped me out as a kid. The baron's laugh freaked me out and when the level gets darker after you kill the baron for the second time I was always going, "Nope nope nope nope." The music was always a banger though. And so is this remake. Man your remakes always sound like how I remember the original tracks sounding when I played as a kid. Another great job.
@mattspence13376 ай бұрын
I'm going to have to go back and play this level now cause I don't remember noticing the level getting darker after killing the second time 😯 That sounds creepy as hell though. Thankyou for that, It was always my goal to retain the feel of these tracks, so that people are taken right back to when they first played this game, only, with a modern touch to them.

This series has been awesome, I consider your work the stuff of legends. I only have one request for this community... If you are working on (or have any connection to those working on) the Goldeneye 64 recompilation project, PLEASE share Matt's name so that we can have his music either used officially in the recompilation or as a mod... Assuming Matt would approve of that, of course. I've heard a lot of remakes over the years and the HD "leaked" versions of the original songs and nothing compares to your work. The little flourishes you add perfectly accent the original work and in my opinion this is simply the best version of the soundtrack. Been using a loop of your version of the Pause Menu as the ringtone on my phone since the day you released it!

@kylehaas864 oh wow!! I wasn't expecting to receive a comment like this, that has actually made my day! I'm incredibly grateful for your kind words. I'm not aware of the recompilation project, is that similar to what they did with SM64 (Render96)? I would gladly approve for someone to add these remakes into the game somehow. Thankyou for mentioning the little flourishes I added, I had second thoughts about them cause I didn't want them to take away from the original feel, but im glad I received mainly positive comments about them, I understand its not to everyone's taste. Oh that is so cool to think you've got that set as your ringtone! Makes me feel kind of proud 😁 Thanks again!! ❤

Good work again. All done with the single player levels finally. Excellent :D. I too never got to this level until much later. Not super late, but definitely remember not having it for ages, I think I had Perfect Dark after I unlocked this but don't remember for sure, it was definitely before gamecube era. I think Caverns and then Aztec was what stopped me. As I said on another video, funny how I had way less trouble doing it now with 20 years more... experience. Always felt this level was weird and kind of underwhelming because Samedi goes down so easily with the Golden Gun. I had read a guide ages ago and knew the secret of the Golden Gun room ages before I actually got there. Maybe that's why the level felt underwhelming. Personally I always felt the Golden Gun level should have been the duel between Bond and Scaramanga. Not sure how the one shot kill mechanic could work as a level, but it'd certainly be more iconic. Unless of course they change it so you have to steal the Golden Gun first to stop Scaramanga from using it on Bond. Still I guess that would mean they wouldn't be able to fill the level with loads of endlessly spawning no name guards and we can't have that now :D.
@mattspence13376 ай бұрын
thankyou, I'm glad to be finished with the main levels finally. yeah I agree with you about the level feeling underwhelming. I think after the difficulty spike on Aztec, this one felt a little too easy to be a true final level. The golden gun room come as a surprise to me and after trying to figure out the floor pattern through many resets, I decided to follow a guide. Someone commented about the level getting darker when you go up against Baron, I cant remember noticing it when I played through, but that sounds like a cool concept. I imagine it was more noticeable on original hardware. I like that idea actually, it would definitely change up the pace of the level. I'm sure Rare had many ideas, they just happened to settle with what we got in the final release and yeah, can't be having a lack of endless spawning guards 😆

Yes! You nailed that bassline like I wanted! It's a lot like I said on your Wet-Dry World remake, that bassline is just so damn smooth, I love it so much. It's been a little while since I practiced last, but I'd love to be able to play it myself. When it comes to Goldeneye Egyptian remixes and remasters, I have a couple ear-marked in my head for being particularly good, and this is definitely one of them. Fantastic job finishing up the main tracklist for Goldeneye, I wish you the best creative fortune on what you decide to move onto next. I definitely understand your feeling of having little knowledge of the level. I played the game since I was a small child, it's one of the first games I remember ever playing. For the longest time, I would only play the game on its easiest difficulty , meanwhile it was my dad that was actually attempting to beat all the missions on their hardest difficulty. He had gone through the game on Special Agent, meaning he had unlocked Aztec, and he had been making progress on the hardest difficulty, but he got hard-stuck at Control Room on 00 Agent. For years and years, that'd be the way it stayed, until I was a pre-teen, I'd finally decided to be the one to beat the game on 00 Agent. It was one of the hardest battles I fought, but I had managed to beat Control Room on 00 Agent, and the other levels didn't take long after. We had finally unlocked the mystery final mission that I had wondered about for years and years of my childhood.

@SayVandelay hey im glad it turned out alright, had trouble actually getting the bass to come through on this one, the lower male choir frequencies were taking over the bass frequencies, after a little bit of eq magic, it turned out decent. Thankyou! I'm glad it's in one of your good categories 😁 Hey thanks for that little story, I love when people share their memories. I'm glad you were able to finally beat it on 00Agent, bet it felt like a life long achievement. Its also interesting to see what levels people got stuck on. For me control wasn't a problem, it was Caverns, that damn radio room at the end just used to beat me everytime.
