@alejandrovelez6358 thankyou!! I tried, seeing how I could add that to the end of the X track but it didn't sound good. I'll add that as a separate video soon.

I love how you thought you were more or less finished with Goldeneye, but those earlier tracks you made have you taking a second look because something that only YOU can hear just doesn't sound quite right. With that said, I really wish I had the technical know-how to be able to swap out music tracks, since I'm playing around with Goldeneye on my new Steam Deck. I imagine it would take some finagling, though, to make sure your tracks would loop correctly.
@mattspence1337Күн бұрын
@SayVandelay oh I know, thought I was done after the end credits, but because I want to release this as a full album, I want the tracks to flow nicely and those first few tracks I did just sounded off when I went back to them. Ooh for that I think I'd have to split the X tracks from their main tracks and make the files separate. I mean that's definitely do-able, I guess I just didn't anticipate anyone would actually wanna use these tracks to replace the original ones in game. I take that as a massive compliment though, so thankyou 😁😁

It's interesting to learn only recently that Goldeneye the movie's soundtrack was met with lukewarm reviews, when the game's soundtrack is really good. Maybe it's a little Kirkhope. Maybe it's a little [dynamic game soundtracks encouraging Flow State]. (I do think it's a bit of both.) Was fortunate to get to work on Perfect Dark, which was sort of the culmination of Kirkhope's Bond influence (I think? I dunno, has he worked on any other spy games since then? If so, I probably need to check out the music!). Was even more fortunate to get to work on the same project as him back on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, though I doubt he'd even remember me as we didn't work together in any meaningful way. Back then it wasn't even called Reckoning but "Crucible" and the main "orcs" of the game called Taiba were often referred to as "pregnant aliens" by the team (who I think completely abandoned the concept when they brought on McFarlane and R A Salvatore; I was gone from the project by then) As for dynamic soundtracks, *Darktide* I didn't work on...but man if you haven't played it, it's worth it for the soundtrack alone. Jesper Kyd at his absolute finest (and he's been an absolute rockstar his entire career, so that's saying something). Then on top of the awesome music, the gameplay is sort of the Elden Ring of Coop PVE Shooters (really deep melee combat). Easily one of my all-time favorites

Missed Round 1 but made it in time for Round 2! These are impressive. Remakes can be a mixed bag and tricky to do, especially in instances where the original set such a high standard that remixes can't seem to get anywhere close to matching. For Goldeneye, Exhibit A would be the watch theme. The original still is the best version despite it being nearly 30(!) years old and on 30 year-old tech.
@mattspence13373 күн бұрын
@MKDAWUSS hey thankyou, I appreciate your comment! There's a lot of areas in the GoldenEye OST where the compression created alot of cool sounding audio artefacts that are just impossible to recreate. There's an uncompressed version of Bunker 1 on Grant Kirkhopes website and its really nice to hear, but there's something about the compressed version on the N64 that just huts different.
