GoldenEye 007 N64 - Caverns Remake (Includes Caverns X)

So very close to finishing this OST, yet it feels so far.
Always found this level very irritating, it feels like one of the longest levels in the game. Then you get to the radio room at the end and that guard thinks its a great idea to start chucking grenades around in a room full of explosives, right where the freaking radio is. 😂
however, no matter how irritating this level may be, the music more than made up for it in my eyes (or should I say in my ears? 😁). The amount of times I've played this level, I didn't even notice the timpani in the chorus section of the song. I really enjoyed working on this one, I hope you enjoy!

While caverns isn’t my favorite song in the game, there’s something beautiful and melancholy about it. If I had to be unbiased, I think it’s one of the best composed songs in the game and underrated. The cleanliness of this remake helped me to appreciate this song and it’s individual parts more

Yeah, the level can be kind of annoying because of that stupid part near the end, who the hell playtested that? Overall, I still enjoy it as a level, though. The atmosphere (thanks in no small part to this track) just has one hell of a vibe. I love how it starts out so quiet and somber before building up to that awesome reprise at 1:27 and again at 2:45. DonutDrums did his cover of this, and I go back to it occasionally just because of how well I think he nailed that part. Caverns X is no slouch, either. It takes that reprise I love so much and speeds it up to such a sick synth line, I love it. Shame it's only heard in multiplayer. Also, I'd like to add that I think it's pretty sharp when you add proper "endings" to the tracks rather than fading out with the loop. You definitely got your work cut out for you with Cradle, I think that one might be most peoples' favourite of the entire game, and rightfully so.

I've heard mixed opinions about this track. I personally think it's one of the best compositions in the game, the way it builds to that middle section like you say. Then the X track just completes it. Thankyou, there's been a few tracks where I've just not had the creativity to end them any other way than fading out. I liked the idea with this one though.

A great, clean remake, great job! And yeah I agree the level was irritating as hell haha, this level took ages for me to complete on 00 agent at the time because I was dumb and somehow got lost too, not to mention it felt like it had the most "traps" as in guards coming out of somewhere and having grenades and such.

This level stopped me from completing it on 00Agent back in the day. I used to get so frustrated when on the mission select, wondering what those last 2 levels were 🤣 Thank you as always for listening.

I spent many an hour last year playing this level on 00 agent to unlock the cheat so this song is thoroughly ingrained into my head. Awesome job!

I remember doing the same a few year ago and it also took me a few hours. I loved the challenges in this game. To say the development team had never made a gane before, it sure had everything to keep you going back for more.

I actually missed this one somehow. Odd. Anyway here now. I like this one. Yeah this level was a pain, especially doing it fast on 00 Agent. I think I actually used the 'cheat' codes that you could do with the lengthy inputs and still unlock the cheats. Doing it again recently on the Xbox rerelease, it wasn't easy but nowhere near as hard as I remember. Always felt the 'pace' of this level and music was a bit off considering what comes before and after, it's significantly slower and as you say, the level is long. I suppose its building up to the confrontation with Alec but I dunno. Just felt the level was a bit odd. Don't mind it though. Kinda wish they used X in the level when you finally get to Alec and that his appearance was more prominent throughout. I didn't even know he appeared in the level for a while.

I thought I'd not seen a comment from you 😆 yeah I thought the same with this level. I can't remember whether it was yourself, but I was told about the little conversation that Alec has with one of the guards if you stay in the lift long enough. I even had trouble doing this level on 00Agent on PC. They definitely should've used the X track in this level!

@@mattspence1337 Yup in the last video about Bond staying in the lift because the music is good. Guess the world is technically saved if Alec doesn’t get to the antenna controls because he’s waiting for Bond.
