Maybe not a better 'pure shooter' than Klay. But he's more athletic, he can dribble, he can create his own shots, pass a little bit, and drive to the rim. Add in his great attitude, BB IQ, and hustle... Hield is a clear upgrade for this GSW team.

Hield is definitely his own player trying to write his own legacy in a team that has a system and appreciates his effort. I still remember Hield coming out of college, I thought he'd be a special talent but apparently the system matters in how a player excels. I hope Hield can build something great here and try to help this Warriors team get number five. The odds are still stacked against them considering how many other teams are getting younger and athletic. But Hield is definitely more needed than Klay at this point. Will never forget Klay and his contributions to the Warriors his first few years. 2014-19 Klay was something special. Great defender so whenever his shot wouldnt fall, his defense would make up for his misses. But the Warriors didnt have this version of Klay this decade (which every sports journalist thinks he still is?) the Warriors had post 2020 Klay - which the Warriors paid so dont act like Klay was disrespected or screwed. Post 2020 Klay, his defense had been so compromised, whenever he missed shots, it'd hurt the entire team down the stretch, giving up points in both sides defensively and offensively. That's why it took a Poole to make up for his bad nights and why they won in 2022. And the alarming thing I saw is that his assist numbers were terrible. Instead of passing to the right person or driving to the rim, he'd just chuck those bad shots just to get his shots in and that also hurt the team. Klay is basically a catch and shooter and not very more these days.

If Buddy Heild played his entire career with Curry and the Dubs, he'd probably be a hall of famer, conversely had Klay Thompson started out with Sac and all of the other teams, Heild played for, he probably wouldn't be a champion or hall of famer. Klay would always be a nice player as in well above average. But playing with Curry (spacing) has helped him just as it's now creating the monster Buddy Heild.
