Yup this is correct. Same thing my coach taught me (he has 9th best time in marathon in Croatia history)

I used to run really tensed and uptight maybe a little shrunk. Outgases faster and i was slower. Running more relaxed was a big win.

That's the one secret I want to find out overcoming the arm speed limitation to actually move them fast...but it's strange because they have shorter movement path and no weight to overcome and they are moved by both are and chest and back muscles and driven by kinetic chain from hip to core... so why that bottleneck or limiting factor can't be overcome is beyond me for most of us the very slow arm frequency is the biggest obstacles let alone using them to drive past the early drive phase ...instead of trying to figure out how to stop them killing your momentum going forward... so please 🙏 do help figure this one out... for me that's my only obstacle for accessing heavy and big heavy gears...

The thump and forefinger technique he showed is what I have always taught distance runners. Keeps hands relaxed. Chin and shoulders relaxed, get the elbows back. Excellent presentation Coach Chris.

Hi in the action of sprinting should you speed up the arms or slow down the arm follow the rhythm of the legs say slowly?

Can anyone give me advice for keeping arms bent, I’ve switched up my form a lot but I always seem to get into a habit of not bending my left arm when running

Do my hands have to be open sometimes i notice that i begin to make a fist when sprinting
@TTFCAv6 жыл бұрын
keep your hands open as much as possible. Making a fist tightens muscles, slowing you down

Why do all the Olympic athletes clench their fists like Coleman, gatlin and sometimes bolt then?
@user-gd5gj2kh1v6 жыл бұрын
Bolt doesn't
@bean_fart5 жыл бұрын
bit late but some coaches think its more efficient to keep your fingers in a slightly bent, neutral position instead of straight, which makes it look like the athletes are clenching their fists but in reality they arent

Oh yeah? Well, tell that to Andre De Grasse. Not only do his wrists flap about but so does his whole right shoulder! And he's run the 100 metres in 9.69 (windy) and 9.75 (windy). But I jest. But seriously coach, most of your advice is good. I'd say it's not the key to sprinting better but it is a strong contributor. Pumping the arms forward at 90 degrees to your body helps to lengthen stride and promote stability and steering (ability to change direction). As race distance increases, how far forward the arms pump should reduce, to increase efficiency. Lastly, some athletes control their wrists by pointing with their index finger and thumb on each hand. This a psychological positive reinforcement mindset action which supports all the comments I've just made.

If the arms get put in then so should also the chin and legs. Changing only one thing makes no sense. Video is ok though
