@Mialisus The other thing is that GoldSrc's renderer is extremely inefficient at displaying high-poly models, since it uses immediate mode, which renders, shades and textures every polygon in the frame individually and transfers it to the GPU (whereas modern renderers use retained mode). Combine this with 16 players and anime models that can top 30,000 polies, and you can potentially bring even modern GPUs to a crawl.

@@kareemkiller3640 GoldSRC sometimes has trouble with dynamic lights (i.e. your flashlight) in the vid it was actually the engine itself struggling with all of the NPCs and just everything going on back to the dynamic lights type r_dynamic 0 into console and it should solve it but you won't be able to use your flashlight as it just won't be there anymore.

@@lubieplacki2772 These "Loyal fans" are not "throwing a tantrum over any game that isnt a shooter." Keep in mind that these fans have been waiting 11 years going on 12 now for a continuation of their favorite game half-life. ESPECIALLY since episode 2 ended on a major cliffhanger. But instead of giving those fans closure with the final episode, valve discovered that they make enough money off steam to stop caring about half-life. And the worst part is, they didn't even say they were going to stop working on it, they just kept everyone waiting and waiting and waiting until eventually everyone lost hope. A game company that doesn't have the balls to tell their fans that their favorite game is cancelled is not a good game company in my book. And at E3, everyone thought that valve was finally going to release the continuation to half-life, only to discover that they are cashing in on the card game train. Literally the only reason they made artifact is because they discovered hearthstone was making major bucks with the card game theme so they wanted a piece of the card game profit pie. The fans are not throwing a tantrum over non-shooter games from valve, they are constantly plagued by disappointment from valve that they wont finish their unfinished series simply because they don't care. Not because they don't have the resources, not because the game had problems or anything like that, they simply wont finish it because they make too much steam money to care.

This does not include every mod in the video-- just the ones in MB's install circa this video's creation. ...However, it may very well get you most of the way there. -- SINGLEPLAYER -- Blue Shift Brutal HL -- Beta 2 HL Residual Life -- b1.0.0.6 HL Uplink Half-Nuked Half-Payne -- v0.1 Heart of Evil -- v1.02 Scientist Slaughterhouse USS Darkstar Year of the Dragon Chemical Existence Afraid of Monsters: Director's Cut -- Steam Version Azure Sheep Big Lolly Cat-Life -- v0.01 Crack-Life Crack-Life Campaign Gunman Chronicles -- Steam Version HL Echoes -- v1.1 Hazardous Course Opposing Force PARANOIA -- v1.2 Poke646 POV - Point of View -- v1.1 Redemption Someplace Else -- Steam Version Sweet HL They Hunger -- v3.0 Wanted! -- v1.6 -- MULTIPLAYER -- Global Warfare -- v1.10.56 Action HL Boxwar -- v3.0 BrainBread -- v1.2.0 Bumper Cars -- v2.0 Canned Tuna -- v1.5 Condition Zero Counter-Strike -- v1.6 Day of Defeat -- v1.3 Deathmatch Classic Decay Desert Crisis -- v1.5c Digital Paintball Gold -- v3.0 Existence -- Beta 1.4 Firearms -- v3.0 GangstaWars -- v2.7 Grenades, Snarks, & Teleporters -- Beta 1 Half-Life 2: Jaykin' Bacon: Source -- v5.1 HL Rally -- Beta 1.1 Holy Wars -- Beta 2 Hostile Intent -- v1.6 International Online Soccer -- v4.0 Kanonball -- v1.1 Master Sword Continued -- v1.2 Monkeystrike Natural Selection -- v3.2 Opera Outlaws -- Beta 1.6 Pirates, Vikings, and Knights -- Beta 2.1 Ricochet Rocket Crowbar 2 Sabaneta 2050 -- v0.69c Science and Industry -- v1.2 Snark Wars -- v0.02 Snow-War -- v2.1 Team Fortress -- v1.5 The Battle Grounds -- v1.0F The Ship -- v0052 The Specialists -- v3.0 The Trenches -- Beta 1.0 Tour of Duty -- v1.3 Train Hunters -- Beta 2.0 Turbo -- vA2.1 Underworld -- v2.00 VampireSlayer -- VI Wizard Wars Beta -- v1.3.0 Zombie Panic! But of course, other people have mentioned some games and mods that may be represented in the video but not listed. I've pooled them here: Half-Life (Dreamcast) Half-Life (Alpha) Counter-Strike (Beta) Team Fortress (Pre-Classic) Sven Co-Op Household DEATH Resident Evil: Cold Blood Half-Rats Parasomnia Cry of Fear C.A.G.E.D Swiss Cheese Halloween Gladiator Time's End ...and some mods didn't make it in for varying reasons. Marphy mentioned in particular: Earth's Special Forces Cold Ice The prior due to model-animation incompatibility, and the latter due to being mainly a weapon addon and thus not visually distinct. Still yet, some people's favourite mods were discluded, probably due to relative obscurity and/or time/energy constraints. Let's give those a place to shine, eh? Cthulhu Visitors The Gate Frontline Force Invasion Xen-Warrior Scientist SlauterHouse: Mod Messup #1 - WTF Black-Ops Ispitatel Worms HL
@avtomatkalashnikova19475 жыл бұрын
Marphy confirmed Worms Half-Life wasn't in the video is because the playermodels in the mod use custom skeletons. _I just checked it out, and unfortunately the mod wouldn't have made the original cut as the Worms player models use a custom skeleton, meaning I couldn't easily recompile them to use the Dancing Baby animation. This is the same reason why Earth's Special Forces, Desert Crisis, and Digital Paintball weren't included either._

How, HOW can a simple shooter, from 1998, became so revolutionary and simply the icon of the First Person Shooter genre. Sure, it came in with a new engine, new unseen technology, but why it became so popular, and what makes it so good, that even if you beaten it 20 times, it's all about running around and shooting aliens and soldiers, yet, you're going to want to beat a 21st, 22nd, 23rd time, again and again as time goes by, what's so special about this game, it managed to maintain an EXTREMELY ACTIVE and friendly community for TWENTY YEARS! While some AAA games today can't maintain their communities either friendly nor active for more than 2 years after launch, this game truly is a masterpiece, we shouldn't be mad at VALVe for never releasing a sequel to Half-Life 2, we should be thankful to have, not only one, BUT TWO masterpieces, *games that will NEVER die, and will ALWAYS be in our hearts and (maybe) our computers!*

@@Seltkirk-ABC Ah yes, DooM, the face of FPS, true, but you also should never forget that Half-Life, is the father of *physics* as we know in gaming.
@GGigabiteM6 жыл бұрын
@@Seltkirk-ABC While Doom may have started the FPS genre, Half-life was by far the most influential. It spawned a modding community which has never been seen before or since. There were literally hundreds of mods for Half-Life, and many of them were good enough to be their own games. It also influenced later engines based on the id tech lineage and even engines which were completely different from the original Quake lineage. The reason you don't see engines like this anymore is because of asshole money grubbing companies like EA that only care about shitting out trash "AAA" titles year after year and don't want anyone eating into their pie. Valve encouraged modding because it got people to buy Half-Life or Counter-Strike as the base game to run the mods. EA on the other hand actively goes out and punishes modders by banning them from their platform for "cheating" for making their game look like something other than stock. Unfortunately, EA and companies like EA are going to be around for the foreseeable future since there are plenty of braindead zombie gamers who love paying full price for the same soccer or basketball game year after year with different player rosters.

@@dongerlord4631 Same here, i habe around 30k hours of Half-Life, and about 12k hours of Half-Life 2, every little detail is on my mind, every soundtrack, every enemy spawn position, every trigger, everything (yet i can only beat the game in no lesser than 1h30m, no bhops), such a simple game (gameplay-wise) yet a really complex game at the same time (lore-wise).
