Hello Chris. I look to your videos and Facebook page for ideas and"how to 's". The little inspiration also to get out and ride. i love my Gl and that feeling of adding that new part on it makes me feel good. Thanks for doing a great job for all of us.

Friend request sent Chris. Jim Prescott on facebook. Years ago (1977/8) when I had my Kawasaki Z1000 it developed a steering wobble at low speeds and it to turned out to be the steering headstock bearings. In fact the actual bearings weren't too bad, but the bearing cups had little flats all around the circumference causing the coned rollers to tend to 'fall' into the flats which relayed into the steering wobbling. New bearings and cups/races cured the problem. Correct torqueing of the bearings is really most important to prevent flats prematurely developing. Blimey, sorry for the long post. Ride safe Chris ...... and I'm still wishing I had a wing, but at 61 and bad heart, I fear it might be too much for me.

Hey Chris, if I may ask, what did they charge you to do the steering head bearing job? Alan

I’d like to know also.

That's interesting. GW's have had a history of problems with the steering bearings. I'm really surprised it still exists even on a 2016 GW.

Chris, those small convex mirrors on your side mirrors...how well do they work?
@chriscaliente50337 жыл бұрын
Bob J I rather have blind spot mirror than the LED Moth signal mirrors, it keeps me from looking over my shoulder, great for quick lane changing.
@4everjeeper7 жыл бұрын
those little mirrors would be nice but my bike already had the LED signal mirrors
@chriscaliente50337 жыл бұрын
I would love the signals, but the blind spot mirrors are more of my speed.

glad the new bearings are working well for you ! I had mine checked on my 1500 and all is good. Just the satisfaction that a mechanic at the dealership looked at it makes feel a lot safer. Thanks Where is a link to how you set up your video cameras? How many do you use and what kind of audio for the cameras ?

You have a 2016 and you changing the bearings already? Do you know why your bearings went out so soon for the mileage that you have?

Hey Chris, I have to agree with you on the way people that put advertising on your facebook page. Is there a way to delete those posts, because I want to see if the same is on mine. I am wondering if that wobble is common for all Honda motorcycles, or is it a thing after certain amount of miles that you experience it.
@chriscaliente50337 жыл бұрын
renegadebiker24 I'm told that the Goldwing wobble is a characteristic of the bike, some Wings experience this after a while

Remember we spoke about this (I have several KZbin names). Changing the steering head brgs. is not the answer or the problem. I supplied a video when I mentioned this, I'm sure you remember The problem is the way the front tire wears (even if you can't see the wear) if changing the head brgs stopped your wobble then the brgs are too tight! (the tire wears this way because of front fork weakness) If you notice that you have to intentionally correct the direction of travel as you ride or if you notice that the bike becomes a little hard to control as you come to a stop over what it used to be, or riding without hands seems difficult then, the head bearings are too tight. How to determine if the bearings are too tight; raise the front end off the ground, center the handlebars then let go of them, the handlebar MUST fall to one side or the other, you should find it hard (if not impossible)to keep the bars from falling to the lock on one side or the other. All Goldwings suffer this issue and it's because the front end is too weak for the load it carries, this does not mean it's going to fail or that anything catastrophic is going to happen because it will not. Honda is aware of this however they do not have to fix it because these bikes sale so well and engineering a new front end is expensive. There is a reason they did not put this front end on an older Valkyrie, the Valkyrie front fork should be on the Goldwing. You can run a 'rear' tire on the front, it helps a lot but there is no fix for this issue, there is simply too much flex in the forks. Believe it or not, like it or not. Now you know!

I don't understand why people want to try sell their stuff on u r fb group. That's why craigslist and eBay were created. Even though I ride a Harley to me it's about were u ride and issues u have with u r gold wing, I enjoy u r vids and u never know when u might learn something new about riding or maintenance on u r motorcycle.

yea its a pretty common error on the gold wing. Sorry to say it happened to me once and from then on i never take both hands off the steering wheel. (he hee). It just a bad habbit i got rid of. But yea the head bearings need to be repacked and tightened down pretty snug. and of course that should be done by a professional. Good call. Of course your FB page is your page and would like to see some scheduled rides or overnite runs so i can meet up with you guys where your at. Just got back from Las Vegas NV by way of LA NM Colorado and finally back to LV to LA. Its heating up here in LV 108 at 6 p.m. but funny thing i can still ride the bike in shorts and not worry about burning my legs like the HD's. PEACE!

Chris, Just something to give a try. About the only time my bike ever get the low speed wobble is of course decelerating,and going down just the slightest downgrade. It don't take hardly any amount of downward hill and slowing combination and sometimes my bike gets some pretty good wobble. You may try your new setup going down even a slight hill. Hope yours ifs fixed for good. Keep up the cool videos! Also speaking of t-shirts,,,you better get some CC t-shirts in the works. :)

How many miles are on the bike,it should have just need to be adjusted,a new bike like that, the bearings should not have to be changed that quickly.

@gwynnromano58817 жыл бұрын
You should have the bearings checked and adjusted if necessary after five hundred to one thousand miles of use. As you said, it is often more economical faster to have the job done by a professional than to try to do it yourself.

Glad the ALL BALLS solved the problem. I just keep cracking up over the name "ALL BALLS", well it is what it is, and they are what they are. Lol. Great vid Chris, and for whoever constantly put 👎 on your vids, 🖕you, (God forgive me), and furthermore, the only bike they probably ever rode was a tricycle. Lol

I recently bought a 1500. Took it on the interstate (I wish I would have done it during the test drive) and found out it wobbles @ about 65ish - 70ish. I jacked the bike up and when I pull on the front wheel it does move slightly. It doesn't do it at low speed only at high speed on grooved interstates roads. If you don't mind saying, how much did you pay for labor and the all balls. And, is the all balls better? I'm thinking it might just need adjustment but not sure? By the way, watched many of your videos and you make riding that 1800 of yours look like it was attached by an umbilical cord from birth! So, to everyone who has smaller bikes and are thinking of getting a Goldwing, riding a bike this big is not as easy as Chris makes it out to be. When I got mine, I actually got physically ill for riding it a couple of hours and almost threw up in McDonald's trying to order something to make me feel better. Then at the red light, I was so sick and nauseous, I completely forgot what to do and luckily my brother was next to me on his bike and talked me into calming down so I could make it home. Never had this happen before on smaller bikes.
