Back in chapter 77, Frieren reveals that the silly little rewards she gets from quests are a habit she got from Himmel. They would help all these people regardless, but they don't want them to feel like they owe them anything, so they ask for a reward, no matter how small. It's a bonus for Frieren that she gets to collect silly spells for her hobby.

While these certainly count as filler chapters and don't give character growth, they enrich the world of Frieren beyond an environment that is a blank space so you can make drama comedy and more stories in it, but tell that the environment is a valuable story element itself. This feels lived in exactly because you learn what is there and how the interactions are. This is actual world-building. While it doesn't do much and would be not missed if it wasn't there (or at least can be "replaced"), it kinda needs to be there to make Frieren distinctively Frieren? CH106 is a creative idea (not unique I would guess, but not an every fantasy trope), but besides that, it is a chapter in all of the 100+ chapters to this point that is like these random panels of a flower or rabbit or another creature in some of the time montages in certain chapters, that is just there. .... well I could go on and on about it, but I rather stop.

Lately notifications come at significantly different time across the globe. Since the cables were sliced between Sweden and Lithuania and Finland and Germany - I'm experiencing 30-90 second delays in notifications. And I was here 23 seconds after video was uploaded.
