I just want to say thank you guys. I have a high handicap. After understanding this video I shot a four over on 9 holes at my club. Great video and thanks. Might of shot my record on a 72 course. Only had time for 9. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

This! What a wonderful explanation of sequencing the backswing and how the clubhead has to swing up faster than the body to stay in synch. This has plagued my swing causing arm over run and my left arm bending. Thanks guys, brilliant!

This video has helped so much! I started playing golf and watching these videos in January 2014. Since then, my handicap has went from a +30 to a +8. Thank you so much for all of the great videos! I will make sure to recommend these to others!

so helpful. i've ingrained a bit of overturn/over rotation as i used to be able to turn naturally a lot easier when i was younger. now its causing me to turn everything too much and then get the club narrow and across the line at the top. this simple drill really is a great "feel" to change that..thanks!

Gents: if you can help my problem, then you're helping 1 in a million, no exaggeration. I broke my neck in 3 places and was paralyzed from the neck down. Over 6 years and 7000+ hours of therapy! I have my arms and hands back 95%, but from the chest down, I'm 70-100% paralyzed. Trying to practice & qualify for 2015 British Open for disabled golfers. I can just stand and address the ball, but balance is poor. I tend to use mostly my arms to swing, and hope I don't fall. I normally don't. But since few people have this condition, I've yet to find anyone who can help me. I'm self taught so far. Look forward to your help. Cheers, William~

I over swing so bad, it actually dips a couple of more inches at the top, even though my body has stopped turning! I did not know about the quick "L" shape that we should try to achieve in order to have proper sequencing! I was always doing the typical "width extension" all the way to the top. Thank You for your tip! Watching and learning from you guys every day.

Wow I was struggling just recently because my sequencing of getting in the L position was late! In turn made me over swing in the backswing! Thank you for this!

I never would have imagined a lack of clubhead speed on the backswing could mess you up. I suppose someone with this problem looks disconnected at the top and probably bent left arm as well because of turning too soon. I bet this would also give you a nice fluid tempo to your swing too. Thanks for the insight you two!

I really struggle with this as feels like I'm using my arms too much and not getting a proper shoulder turn in. Guess it's all about timing. Thanks for the tip guys. Maybe I'll hit it like Bubba, well pleased for him last night such a genuine person

Andy-- how do you hinge your wrist for the L shape on the backswing? Do you use the pad of your left hand only? or both?
@scottshimaura81128 жыл бұрын
If everything in a backswing is in the proper position does it mean everything in the downswing will be in proper position too? I'm having a difficult time coming back to proper position on the downswing so I'm wondering if it's due to improper positioning in the backswing.

Any tips for a swing that doesnt hurt the back so much? i have a serious back injury and if i play too much i can barely get out of bed at the morning.. not that bad but you get it.. Less stress on the back somehow?=

Would disconnection/arm overswing at the top result in throwing the club from the top and "coming over the top" during the downswing?

I have a bit of an over swing also and notice my left elbow bending. But when I try to do this drill I tend to pick it up steep. On my usual swing I can come over the top with the over swing and with a sway. Can u help me with these problems?
@porsche911luv95 жыл бұрын
Ernie Els teaches this same technique. he stresses not releasing the club until after the transition has started and he's halfway down from the top.

I am willing to bet some T-spine mobility drills will help this guy get into a better backswing without putting unneeded pressure on his knees. Thoracic spine mobility greatly affects shoulder turn.

when I don't over swing then I'm late and I shank the ball left (I'm a lefty). I need some serious help. when i over swing my timing feels right but i get very inconsistent results
@Ky-lh2nj4 жыл бұрын
It’s probably due to lack of lead hand pronation to square the club face, that or you’re coming over the top. Both issues are covered by these guys 👍🏼

So is the one piece takeaway wrong?
@meandmygolf.10 жыл бұрын
Hi Corey. This is still a one piece take away. One piece just means that everything moves away together. However, not at the same speed. Does that make sense?
@kevinmartin50910 жыл бұрын
Corey, think about the distance away from the centre of rotation which is the spine (club head is the furthest, then the arms, then the shoulders). Since the club head needs to travel further than the arms and the arms further than the shoulders, the club head needs to move faster than the arms and the arms need to move faster than the shoulders to make them appear to move together. Or rather, they are moving together!
@meandmygolf.10 жыл бұрын
Good explanation Kevin.

So actually you promote a more wristy backswing, I have read so many instructions not to do that, very confusing

amfohr A well timed back swing to allow everything to reach the top at the same time.

Soon after studying these golf swing techniques , Jοmtοnο Naha (Go ogle it) and practicing the drills as I read, I went out and also shot a 73. I was also able to hit 13-18 greens and that was the finest one I had since I began golfing. I also almost strike the green with a range of 5 to ten yards on the other 5 holes. My handicap is a nine so I do not sho ot 73s on a regular basis. When I contemplate it, I haven’t experienced an exceptional round for years.

No reason to think early wrist set will stop an elbow bend later. useless vid.
@xLuye9 жыл бұрын
+geansai333 I'm sorry, you missed the focus here i think. The idea is to sync the timing such that your body and arms are ready to rotate into your downswing in a fluent motion. If the body finish rotating back long before the arms finish, there is bound to be a slight whiplash of force which will most likely be channeled into your elbow. If the body and arms can act in a fluent motion this whiplash can instead be chained throughout the entire body and ultimately in to the shaft. The timing of the wrist set varies a bit to preference between individuals, but I think everyone needs to find that motion where the body syncs up before the downswing. It's that brief moment where the club is weightless in the air and the body is ready to begin the downswing around that time. This will allow the arms and club to find it's optimal swing plane and enable a lot of torque.
