Does anyone use lithium battery packs? Smaller, lighter, more amps if needed depending on the parallel configuration. What is the amp output of your circuit? You said 51 v, so these are apparently in series. I'm sure this is the least expensive option the way you have it hooked up, but it would be cool to see like a 12s 10p battery setup with lithium 18650 Batts, maybe even push the voltage higher with an extra circuit you could switch off and on for the turbo action!! Anyway, cool cart. I'm going to be grabbing one soon to tootle around here on and I'm trying to decide between gas and electric. Both appeal to me, so I'm weighing options.

I have a 1988 ezgo electric golf cart that just stopped running? I will not go forward or backward when I push down on the accelerator. The batteries are fully charged but the cart will not move. I do not hear the solenoid clicking when I push down on the accelerator? Should I replace the solenoid or is there another problem I am not seeing?
@scottnra9 жыл бұрын
+jack ludwig If you don't hear the solenoid click that is probably it. Go ahead and get a heavier one. I burned mine up when I put the new speed control on. (Knowing that was likely to happen) My cart upgrades went a little at a time. I think there are links to parts in the description below the video.
@jackludwig9129 жыл бұрын
+Scott Gregg thanks for your reply. after charging the batteries for 24 hours I now get a clicking sound from the solenoid but it still does not run. If that doesn't fix the problem I am not sure where else to look.

There is a difference between torque (power) and traction. Traction is determined by weight and tire size (if any difference).
@scottnra8 жыл бұрын
Torque is how much power it takes to turn those wheels when you are getting traction. Traction is GREAT with these. With this setup and current programming it will top out at about 23MPH, and go 10+mph up a fairly steep hill with 3 men and gear on it. PLenty of power for what we are doing with it.

+Xavier Vel Well kept batteries can easily go 8-10 years. I know a guy on 10 year old ones now. Charge after every use and keep the water up correctly will help. Keeping it indoors in the winter when not in use helps too. That sounds like a pretty good deal.

@scottnra9 жыл бұрын
+Xavier Vel You really can't. You can check the water level in them now though. Are they relatively clean or are they a mess with acid and corrosion everywhere? How about the cart? You can usually tell by looking around under the seat if it's been well kept by the overall condition in there. A really good set of batteries goes about $900

I have an EZ GO 36 volt golf cart that I have put 6:1 gear ratio differential. Also Alltrax 400 amp controller and heavy duty forward/reverse switch. I have also put 4 ga cables I can run at 28 mph on level road but not enough power on hills. My question is what do I need to do to change to a 48 volt system. I don't need more speed, just more torque on hills.
@scottnra7 жыл бұрын
Probably a new motor unless yours can handle 48 check your speed controller and sol to make sure they are good for 48V along with the 48V battery pack. That might do it.

I had a similar setup in my EZGO TXT except I had a 500 amp controller. I converted to 48V. I then had to upgrade my Solenoid (MJZ400 Super Duty Solenoid from cartsunlimited.net because the "HD" solenoid - which was a 48v solenoid failed within a few months) and an HD F&R switch from cartsunlimied (because the standard F&R switch also failed after the switch). No problems since.

+Justin C I don't know about the tires, they might rub a bit on turning if the rims are not offset enough but I just don't know. I just got a 1999 EZ GO TXT DCS.......I want what u have as far as the speed and torque....do i just need to upgrade my motor and that's it?? how much was just your motor?, im looking for a ball park price range..thanks
@scottnra8 жыл бұрын
Links to everything are in the description below the video. When you upgrade the motor you are going to have to get the Speed controller and Solenoid and wires to handle the extra amps too and keep stuff running cool. I put in the SC and Sol first and melted down the stock motor on the second day haha.

see I thought about making my electric cart faster.. but I need new batteries. and by the time I buy new batteries and an engine then i can already convert to gas cart where I can have a Max speed of so much more with more power and range. without the hassle of charging and over heating and for half the price
@scottnra7 жыл бұрын
True...but mine is quiet. :-) THat's what I was going for or I would just buy a side by side UTV and forget it.
@tracytillett7 жыл бұрын
lol true. it was hard to decide whether to go gas or electric but its crazy how much batteries cost and really all of the parts for electric upgrade. its like $500 for a good motor, $400 for the controller, $800 for batteries. but i would like to have both an electric and gas. the only thing is you can a gas one while using the electric motor axle and basically just have to re run the throttle and attach an engine and gas tank. so total of about $800. cheapest utv i find is in the thousands.. why is all of this stuff so expensive!?
@scottnra7 жыл бұрын
I figure I have about $3k in it and could probably sell it for 5K. Batteries to me are Gas and oil changes that lasts for 8 years. But I certainly get it.
@tracytillett7 жыл бұрын
yes I will probably spend $800 A year on gas but In return I get longer drive time and allot more torque and power. that's really what i wanted. i was going to do an electric with solar panels on the roof. (another $800) to increase range by almost 75% but having 20hp in A 400cc engine just seemed to overwhelm me with joy
@HmongGuitarPlayer6 жыл бұрын
Look up DHX Machine they can make you cart go faster.

Dan thing is dangerous now with that lift kit at top speed haha. I need the hill climbing deer dragging torque as much or more than speed. It's a trade off. Thanks for watching. You can check out & follow the FB page for updates, suggestions, etc: facebook.com/scottgreggoutdoors/
@HmongGuitarPlayer6 жыл бұрын
Scott Gregg That’s what they make. You won’t loose torque even if you go up hill. Their motors are high torque and don’t weigh 50 pounds it’s only 12 pounds.

Its not a computer.. its just a relay and like a clamp on ammeter.. if you just run a leg through the hole it has a magnetic sensor that triggers the relay to charge. Not smart enough to be called a computer..
