Along with many modern automobiles, the MK7 Golf GTI comes with an artificial noise generator that can "amplify" engine noise within the cabin of the vehicle. Some people like it, some people hate it. The question often comes up about how to disable it.
Method 1: Find the module under the hood near the windshield and unplug it. (I have not tried this method)
Method 2: Disabling it using VCDS Vag-Com. With this option, you can either fully disable Soundaktor or modify it to a quieter setting. (Since the default is almost always 100% volume, this will not work to make it louder.)
1. Main screen of VCDS, Select Control Module.
2. Navigate to and select A9- Struct. Borne Sound.
3. Select Adaptation - 10
4. Set Channel to Volume of structure-borne noise actuator.
5. Change Stored Value to 0.0 to disable (or any value lower than 100 to quiet it down)
6. Click "Do It". Click "Yes" on VCDS Adaptation Warning.
