Just applied this to my swing. My new sensation is that my arms are nearly hitting the ball by themselves without any hip help. This is just a sensation, because I always finish in a picture perfect position. This swing thought has done a lot to remove 18 years of baseball swing, where the hips nearly hit the ball by themselves. Have always hit a horrible slice. Like hitting cars in the parking lot slice. I hit a long draw for the first time in my life to day. Dispersion went from 50-75 yds. to 20-50 yds. with driver. Still a long way to go, but I am very grateful for this video.

Your practice swing at 15:41 was so awesome and you kept your right foot on the ground halfway through your follow through which shows how flexible you are. Your real swing at 15:52 was very good too but your right foot was up in the air too early and you looked like you were coming out of your shoes to hit it.

Hey guys. First I want to say that your video series is great and Monte`s insight n the amateur golfers feels are revolutionary. I have struggled with dragging my arms through the hit for longer than I care to remember and after watching your videos and studying the swings of most of the ladies on the Korean PGA and KLPGA, I ame across a few insights of my own that have completely changed my swing. One thing that I noticed is that most of the men and women on the I korean tours all set the club pretty early like in the no turn cast drill but from face on they have their right arm stays straight in the takeaway and above the left at the top of the backswing. I guess this is to keep width in their swings and to keep the club from getting behind the turn. Another thing I noticed that has changed my swing is when they do a practice swing they do this over the top looking downswing. In one of your first shows with Monte, Brendon did this exact same motion trying to demonstrate a fault and Monte immediately said "great". Brendon looked extremely confused and I was too until I tried it. It does the same thing as what you guys were doing in this video. It gets the left shoulder away from te chin in the downswing and keeps the arms in front. But just like people can overdue a feeling, thinking if this gets me to do that, if I do it a little more I can be on tour. It can be a bad thing. Anyway, just though I'd share what helped me. Hopefully it can help someone else to. Keep the great content coming.

That takeaway move you are talking about sounds interesting. They hinge the wrists right off the ball but keep the right arm straight as possible? Is that right? What player does this I can watch sueng yul Noh?
@lionbear70479 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Noh, Bae, Kim, Oosthuizen, Adam Scott, Rory. Woods was doing it but more extremely a couple of years ago. If you look up this guys page bauercti he has a couple of play lists of tour pros practice swings and their regular swings and you can see what I was trying talking about.

good stuff..keep it up. I think we all got caught up in the swing the club with the body motion and forgot that the arms and wrists are the greatest speed factors. In fact, I theorize the talent factor of a few separator from the skill factor of many is gifted hands. Tiger: "I remembered I have really good hands."

Not sure if this will help anybody but after fifty plus years of playing golf, I've finally come to the conclusion that the golf swing is simply swinging your arms UP AND DOWN while turning away from and then back through the golf ball. Instead of thinking about taking the club BACK, I picture cocking the club up with my wrists and throwing my arms SMOOTHLY over my right shoulder simultaneously while I turn away from the ball with my upper body. That is the back swing. Then instead of trying to hit the ball from the top, I simply uncock my wrists straight downwards while turning back and through the ball and this lets me hit the ball as hard as I want. My thought is "arms up and down" and finish balanced. Once you get this move coordinated properly, it doesn't look like anything other than a normal golf swing. Your arms are in front of your body as recommended by most pros. This eliminates the over the top move and also delays your right hip and heel from coming up too soon. Does this make any sense, Monte?

+fontking1a Anything can work as a "feel", but what about the mechanics that generate that "feel"?
@ryanh2228 жыл бұрын
looks like you were spinning the before driver swing pretty heavy. a lot of your distance on the after driver swing came from bringing the spin down about 1000 rpms. catching the ball on the upswing and top center of the club face does a lot of good!

Brendon, your work is a fantastic addition to Monte's videos! George Burns was great, but even better with Gracie! This video has immediately helped my driver swing. After watching, I played with a buddy who always outdrives me, and am now just as long and more consistent. One question: my interpretation was to move my left arm out as I begin the swing, but after viewing the video more closely it looks like your intention is out and down with the left arm. Is that right?
@BEBETTERGOLF9 жыл бұрын
I like to match and I'm throwing a ninja star low down the target line. The key is not to slow down the hips but to speed up the left hand and arm to get everything matching in speed

Hey dude I have the same problem with the Elvis hips. What exactly did he tell you to fix it. You guys didn’t really explicitly say it. Is it just casting your left arm? Did you pull your zipper more towards the back? Thanks
@MANversusGRAVITY9 жыл бұрын
Brendon - great video thanks for sharing. Not sure I fully caught the critical "fix" Monte had you work on in order to maintain depth in the hips. Is the basic idea to separate the left arm from the chest earlier in the downswing in order to speed up the arms? Or, was the idea to align left arm with knee line?
@BEBETTERGOLF9 жыл бұрын
MANversusGRAVITY You got it. It is left arm off the chest to speed up the arms. That was the main point.
@MANversusGRAVITY9 жыл бұрын
BE BETTER GOLF Perfect, thx, Brendon. Btw - completely agree with your comment that driver is the most important club in the bag. It's always a pet peeve of mine when "experts" tell you to focus on your short game to really improve. I get this point... "50% of shots are around the green..." That said, if you can't consistently get off the tee box, this game really isn't much fun to play at all. Keep up the good work.
@sumsar01259 жыл бұрын
+MANversusGRAVITY Sure, but if you swallow your ego a bit you can easily get off the tee box with a hybrid/long iron and be 40-60 yards short or so. Of course it's not optimal but it can work. For me the putter is the most important club in the bag, you can really add or subtract A LOT of points based on how that thing is working. It's not as sexy as bombing the driver 300+ yards, but it's a crucial part of the game imo. Btw love the videos Brendon, I'm gonna try Monte's tips in my next practice session.

When I was a kid that's what I instinctively did. Started at 10-11 and by 13 broke par from the men's tees for the first time. Of course I had great flexibility and fantastic eye hand coordination. Unfortunately my prefrontal lobes woke up and I became analytical. Went from potential professional golfer to biologist......that's life! Young golfers today though finally have instruction and coaching that is sound, or at least less anecdotal, and I think this accounts for the increasing conformity of swing pattern that is distinctive of high performance.

I think the essential thing is that when the downswing starts, the club moves away from the target initially. You should feel a momentary increase in pressure in your right foot This keeps you from opening your hips too soon. www.golfdigest.com/story/world-long-drive-champ-jeff-flagg-secrets-for-power Notice what he says about this.

What is the drill here?
@alienrenders6 жыл бұрын
Spin hips a little later. Move the left arm down and off the chest first. That's it I think. If I were to think of an analogy, don't do a wet towel swing (if your club was a wet towel) where the towel can only snap out after you're done turning. Instead, try to do a pendulum swing where the arms and club end up extended toward the ball at the same time. This drill of spinning a little later will avoid coming over the top and make the apex of your arm extensions and the release be at the ball instead the Elvis rotation where the rotation of the body and the club release are not in sync. It will also keep your right foot from being raised too early. But this drill only works if you do the Elvis release where you twist your body too early. That's what I understood anyhow.
