@BrisGolf Wow ! Thanks for the clarification. One important question, do we have to flip the right wrist just right after balll impact ?
@BrisGolf

No, we never flip the wrists. You will want to rotate the left wrist and forearm. Go look at my video on how the left arm works.

Excellent job Michael in explaining how to achieve a bent right wrist and it's importance. I have been working on a flat left wrist and a bent back right wrist together with a folded right arm in my swing for a while now. In viewing this video the importance of the body rotating through this shot cannot be overemphasized. Well Done Michael! I always find something useful in your videos! Keep up the good work!!!

I discovered this method almost by accident, while watching a video on a new training aid that promotes this wrist hinge ,the aid is rather expensive ,so ive been trying the motion you are showing,,when I get it right I'm ripping the ball but tend to be a bit wild so I'll do what you suggest and slow down my practice swings many thanks

@@BrisGolfit's working really well for me. I'm trying to bend back right wrist and get weight of club on my right trigger finger at top. Thank you very much. I am trying to keep my left hip back as well. One thing i'd like your opinion on is it seems I get across the line at the top I wonder if it has to do with my posture I have pretty long legs. Anyways. Thank you
@BrisGolf
@BrisGolf 7 ай бұрын
It would have to do more with the position of the right arm. Elbow is probably getting behind you too much and separated from left elbow. Keep elbows together and in front of your chest.

Maintaining the angle in the trail wrist also promotes a de-lofted club head (more distance), prevents you from casting into an early release and also helps to keep the clubhead square to the swing path. Like the video shows, you must commit to the swing and rotate the body for the club to get back to the ball square and flush. Over all this eliminates a lot of hand action, flipping and twisting of the hands. Master this and your accuracy, distance and consistency will greatly improve.

Any suggestions for the person who due to old injuries and arthritis neither wrist bends backwards or side to side.?
@BrisGolf
@BrisGolf 7 ай бұрын
You will have to use your elbows as the hinging point. It is tricky, but doeable. You won't generate as much speed, but you can control the club. It will be a little Moe Norman like.

I noticed you have a trigger where you slightly push your hands forward. Do you do this with all your clubs?
@BrisGolf
@BrisGolf 7 ай бұрын
Yes. It is a forward press that I do on all clubs. I have been doing it so long that I don't even know I do it. It is my trigger and has nothing to do with the content of the video or allowing me to keep my right wrist bent. Great question and very observant!

Lag comes from the right wrist NOT THE LEFT WRIST as all You Tube Pros promote. BUT don’t hold the angle of the right wrist. As you go thru to hit the ball unload and hit with the right wrist and body as explained in the video. Jack Nicklaus said he wished he had two right hands.
@edryan965
@edryan965 2 ай бұрын
this method at least for me requires proper distance from ball - . stand too far and shoulder plan gets flat and inconsistent contact. I wound up hooking shots with a closed face.
@BrisGolf
@BrisGolf 2 ай бұрын
Sorry it didn't work for you, but I don't understand your comment. Why did a flat plane cause you to hit a hook? And why did a bent right right wrist cause a closed club face? Just curious. Thank you for the comment and watching.

Why not just start the address using the impact position?
@BrisGolf
@BrisGolf 6 ай бұрын
To achieve impact position with the right wrist the body must be rotated through impact. The hips will be open, the chest should be slightly open, and the shaft leaned forward. You would have a hard time aiming from that address position as well as making a back swing from there. Thank you for the question and watching the video,

Do you push the right hand or uncock the right wrist at the last second to hit the ball hard?
@BrisGolf

NOOOOO!! We never push the right hand forward. The angle will come out on it's own as we continue to pivot towards the follow through. Thanks for the question. I hope this answer helps.

@@BrisGolf So you actually try to keep the right wrist bent when making contact… hit the ball with bent right wrist? Trying to understand..thanks.
@BrisGolf
@BrisGolf Ай бұрын
The right wrist must be bent in order to have lag in the club head and to have shaft lean. This is the only way to compress the ball against the turf. If you push your right hand forward you are flipping the club head.

@BrisGolf
@BrisGolf 7 ай бұрын
Driver is different in the sense that the swing plane is flatter and more around, and you hit up on the driver. But you still need to maintain lag and a bent right wrist. Thank you for the comment and for watching.

Maybe if you're a guy who has been flipping his hands or letting the club head get passed the hands at impact his whole life, and you've watched hundreds of videos of instructors telling you to hit the ball before the ground, and give you a drill like, for example, put a towel behind the ball and don't hit the towel, without any explanation of how you're supposed to achieve that, you might appreciate a good explanation for once. Oh but I'm sure I've lost you already because my comment is too long for ya.
