One of the things I like most about the stack system, is that the speed of single-arm swings with no weights is a good estimate of max speed with driver using both hands. This is true for both lead and trail arm swings. I’m currently trying to figure out how to reduce the gap between driver speed and single arm swings speed (about 5-6 mph faster). This video gave some ideas for how I can go about it. Thank you!

It is called Stack. It is a speed training system. I use it more for pattern work than speed work.

I'm in the same boat as a left hander playing right handed clubs. How much faster typically is 2 arm versus a single arm swing?

It really depends on the person...some are close and some are massively different. You can play good with both (one dominant vs even) but important to know.

Hi Tyler. I'm a RHed RH golfer. I've been practicing single-handed swings for a while - usually as a warm-up because it allows a full range of motion, but also for 'flow' in my chipping. A few weeks ago I got so good chipping with each hand, I decided to continue up the bag and build to easy half-swings. When I got to my 8 iron, it started to unravel. I found it became harder to controll the club with my left (lead) hand. I was getting tops and pulls and my body (upper and lower) was stalling through impact. My RH (trail) was better and I had far more control over the club head. I had better turn through impact too, but I was getting some fats and shanks. What, if anything, does this indicate might be awry in my mechanics? Cheers.

Great drill and experiment. It would hard to know for sure without seeing the swings. But one thing could be is with longer clubs you need more of a throwing motion then a pulling motion.

tyler, this is like me, i'm left handed but swing right and i go between focusing on using more left hand action for a while and then swittch to more right hand. i played of lot of hockey when i was young and it was definetely the right hand that provided the hit when shooting a puck. i also play guitar left handed even though it is the right hand that does the fingering of the notes and chords while the left hand has an easier job of strumming and picking. so i've been wondering if the fact that the right hand is closer to the dominant right eye. i write, throw, bowl and use tools left handed though. one other weird thing is my wife and all my girl friends i had before i got married were left handed also.

i don't know if it's correct but my first move off the ball is left shoulder down and back and left knee and hip back and the hands and arm elevate back and up. the down swing happens so fast it's like a reaction but i'm a bit conscious of coming down a bit inside and stay centered. i'm a 13 hdcp. 74 yrs old and hit a driver about 220 on the fly and my 7 iron is 140 yds. i'm always working on it and it's all about the golf for me.@@tylermcghiegolf

As a left-hand person who plays right handed I've discovered that I'm about 5mph faster when i hit a fade.

Good video, an interesting topic, thanks. I’m lefty playing as lefty and I’ve always struggled with the over the top until I settled for swinging with my dominant hand that enabled me to hit draws rather than fades, and gain distance. Do you have any experience with such situations and could you share your thoughts? After years of playing I came to the conclusion that I would probably do better playing as righty! … but it’s too late now!

@@Criscross292 I recommend you watch Marcus Edblad, his circle of speed and most importantly you have to switch from pulling with the right hand to pushing with your left hand from inside out (ice hockey like drill with split hands and left pushing, also how to release the club). It takes time but I follow Marcus for a while and his method works, certainly for me. Good luck 🤞

Definitely a factor in what I see in some tendencies. I like the idea that you are on with the left hand help more to help you draw it. Lots of really good players do exactly what you are doing with your focus.

what do you mean a "left handed person"? You mean writing? I'm RH Golf, RH throw, Left hand writing, why would writing matter?

Interesting combo. It might not matter. But for you power could possibly be from the right arm and the fine motor control from the left hand (club face awareness), but definitely player dependent.
