Golf mk3 1.9 TDI 2++HP engine build Part 1

Welcome to a TDI 1.9 1Z engine build, we get this little old 1Z 1.9 TDI 90hp TDI ready to handle 2++hp, it doesn't take a lot really, just a set of ARP head studs, a AFN exhaust manifold, a Passat/Audi A4 1.9 PD 130 inlet manifold, set of .0280 nozzles and the most important bit, a turbo which delivers good all round user friendly daily performance for a 92' Golf mk3 GTD Open Air Project.

Very nice job! Can you tell me some more detalied information about the injection pump? Everything ( cam plate, throttle shaft, governor ect.) stock 1z, you just changed the pump head and pump element for a 11mm type? Thanks in advance!

That nozzles you are mentioning, are they Bosch nozzles? .0280 nozzles, is that parts number? From which VW do they come from? I have come across a 1995 VW Golf with the same engine you have in yours. I am considering buying this car. If I buy this car I am thinking of doing the same things as you did with your car.

The stand that you have the engine mouted on. Where can I get one? Is it easy to move the engine around on it?

Hi there, yes the engine stand comes in really handy, look at tool station do a good one! I have a few in the workshop, as I'm sometimes doing more than one project at a time.

OK cool a TDI dune buggy, with a petrol gearbox and the torque this things can make, that it going to be unstoppable, plus do 500 miles on a tank LOL

Is it possible to put in a VE injection pump in a ALH, electronic controlled injection pump car up to 2003?

A lot do it the other way around and fit 11mm ALH pumps into early VE cars, so can't see why it shouldn't work the other way, but never done or heard of everyone doing that, most look for ALH auto gearbox pumps with 11mm.

What rear engine mount you using? Will that clear the turbo housing and actuator?

The rear engine mount is a fresh new standard one, apart from needing to 'clock' the turbo outlet as shown in the video, it's plug n play.

I'm doing a pd150 conversion on my b3 and some of the after market mounts are expensive so looking for cheaper alternative 😅

Sounds like a really cool project, you are talking about the rear engine mount bracket right. A lot make one out of 10mm steel.

Cheers mate. Its going slow at min funds are tighter after being laid off. But im hoping to buy some steel and make my own at weekend, done some fabbing before with an old job so fingers crossed. Dont want to cut rear mount also so eyeing up the vibra technics one as it looks narrower

What intake u take? Is that 1.9D engine non turbo?

That inlet is from a Passat B5/B5.5 and Audi A4 PD 130's

pay atention to that screw on the cranckshaft pulley, lost my engine 2 times in a month because they broke, looking for a swap engine now :(

OH poo, sorry to hear that mate, that bolt and or key way can break, I've found that having the alternator clutch pulley really helps limit this issue.

@@RestoDesignsnando tenho de ver se o meu tem.... dizes neste vídeo que seria difícil montar um PD.. qual é o motivo? os apoios são diferentes? preciso duma alternativa para o meu AFN e não sei o que procurar.. dizem que os PD encaixam bem.. mas n faço ideia mas vai ser o meu próximo projecto no meu golf mk3 gt tdi que de origem tem 90cvs.

Hi, the turbo will be a hybrid VK good for 230+ nice all round package and looks OEM.

@@davidnorman3322 It's a VNT turbo, from the A4/A6 platform 2.0 16v PD TDI 170, but a hybrid as the std turbo is good for 215-/+
