I worked there in '85. I hand mowed 4 of the greens for this skins game. Working at Bear Creek was one of the best yet physically toughest jobs I ever had, and I loved it.. I have a great appreciation for the game of golf.

Charlie Heckman, thank you so much for your comment.....as it ranks at the top of thousands of comments our vintage videos have received....for it speaks to the real purpose of our site at www.imasportsphile.com to pay respect to the awesome entertainers, artists athletes and sportscasters of the Baby Boomer generation ....while providing a history of their generation as seen through their comedy, music and sports....a history that is already too soon being forgotten....so, we recommend you bookmark our site and do not rely on utube for our content...cuz we use 100 different utube channels under different names as "video weigh stations" for the 2300 hrs. of content we will load over the next 5 - 6 years....as you are sure to miss some "nuggets of gold" from our treasure chest of content if you don't bookmark our site.

This was November of 1985. Who would have thought Watson would not win another PGA event for eleven years (except for the 1987 Tour Championship where he got a sponsor's exemption.) No one really can explain the 11 year slump until Tom won the Memorial in 1996. He did admit that he was fighting the bottle to David Feherty and helped David through his alcoholism.

Looks like the irons that Palmer was using and was saying how much he liked them, were the Palmer Axiom cavity back irons. They were cast irons, but it kind of looks like the irons Palmer was using might have been specially made forged set.

I wish golf never adopted modern equipment as much and stuck to a certain ball and persimmon woods. The yardages they're hitting their clubs puts a premium on ball striking and brings the short game much more into play.

Goodspeed, thanks for your comment....cuz these old commercials are no more painful to watch.....than the pain of growing old....but I must say, after having posted 1500 vintage sports, comedy and music videos on my webpage at www.imasportsphile.com over the past year....it turns out that viewers seem to like the old commercials cuz the products are such a stark contrast to the products of today....as society has come so far since then in regards to technology, computers, cars etc.....while changing so little in products like laundry soap, insurance etc.

I have a different opinion than Jack as to why you don't have Depraved behavior in golf. Golf is an individual sport for the most part. You Cannot have an unstable Phyche. It will most definitely show up in your game. The one element necessary to be a pro golfer is composure. If you're a Pro Golfer You can't go out and get drunk, beat up your girlfriend, go to jail, and then get bailed out just in time to go Tee it up at the Masters.

They kept bringing up the missed one foot putt from Arnie on the first as though he lost something there. He did not lose anything. His putt would have halved the hole and carried to the next which Watson won outright. All he did was hand Nicklaus $15k not lose $15k.

It was once believed that Nicklaus was Freakishly Long off the Tee, but apparently he didn't drive it that much farther than Tom Watson. Nicklaus could dominate today as well, but like back then, he'd do it between his Ears.
@rociosuastegui47257 жыл бұрын
In our opinion at ImaSportsphile....every one of the really great athletes were dominant between the ears in competition....not so much physical dominance but more mentally dominant.
