This is fantastic! Sometimes it seems that instructors deliberately try to confuse the student and convince them that golf can only be understood by a select few, but if the student continues to shell out a ton of money, some day they will join the elite ranks. I appreciate this video greatly!

Finally someone clearly described the Magic Move in clear concise language. You are without a doubt the King of Golf instruction. I can actually do what you described, now I have to be able to do the move without thinking “left foot, right elbow”. You are the man.

Left foot - right elbow. Such a simple but crucial mantra to eliminate so many bad habits that I have in my swing. I always think - left foot first. This starts the weight shift left, and stops me leading with my hands from the top of the backswing. Thanks Steve.

I've been working through a few instructions from other instructor's to set wrist angle and shallow the club on the downswing. This feels intuitive and pulls those two items together into, as you say, one move. Kudos

Big thank you, Steve. I've been searching for the compression secret for years and finally found it. I've worked on dropping the hands down but with limited success. Not sure how it's different but when I think about a drop of the trail elbow, I'm definitely compressing the ball. I'm going to be spreading the magic. Thanks again.

Jim Hardy described that as a karate chop towards the rear foot. It was provided as the first move on the downswing in a two plane swing. It needs to be accompanied with the reverse K body tilt so it didn't suit the one plane swing.

Good evening Sensei! Left foot, right elbow is a good thought for harnessing “the unit” into action - is there a thought/ added drill to ensure that the club head is slightly closed at the top of the swing - or does my open stance already make allowances?

I like the 'magic ' move. Been 10 years since I've played and just getting back into because I absolutely love the game. Just a quick question. Should we look to open our stance? I may have missed something my apology. 👍🇨🇦

Also one of Sam Snead's "distraction" theories...if a player is focusing on bringing the rear elbow to the body while shifting the weight to the front heel, they aren't focusing on beginning the downswing with their hands. It's the simplicity of these instructors' teaching which is the real magic. They understood the game so well and put it into language everyone could understand. This is has so much more value than the instructors who insist on turning the art of golf into a mathematical equation or scientific formula.

When u drop th club in a slot, weight will shift by itself to left side because of weight of the club pushes the hip towards the target.
@avocadomobster78234 жыл бұрын
Does this also correlate with the driver? Been having a mean slice lately, which I am pretty sure is from coming down on the ball, and not an in to out swing path, so can this work for driver as well?
@billmcgovern30134 жыл бұрын
Left foot right elbow, how about drive forward off the right foot. That looks like the most dramatic move to me. I struggled with that move getting to the left side. I’ve been working on the eureka golf swing the last 30 days. I have had better contact,better direction but not a tremendous gain in yardage. Compression is better but would like more distance . This is the fix if I can get through the shot like you are demonstrating. I’m impressed with the entire eureka golf swing idea. I’m a work in progress and I know this is the final piece of my puzzle. Got to get these moves down and I know I will get back to single digit HC I am 10.5 at age. Love your vids, keep em coming.
@thomasfraser90723 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve ‘the left foot right elbow’ of which you speak works well if at the top of the downswing we get our trail humerus bone ( upper trail arm) nudging against our trail side rib-cage. This one action quickly shallow our club and gets our entire muscular skeletal body turning in the proper sequence to our golf swing. In fact believe it or not our trail upper arm begins, directs and ends our entire swinging of the golf club if we allow it to. Cheers ❤️⛳️😃

The Raven approves.
@BigOilerFan20114 жыл бұрын
Another comment - having your trail elbow descend from a bit behind causes you to avoid early extension. It's not enough to open up - to make room for the elbow to get by you must stay in posture.
@oldprogolf72924 жыл бұрын
Agree with everything, Steve, but there is a wee bit missing to make this perfect and that is clockwise rotation of the left arm. Different players do this at different times in the swing (Rory on the backswing, Wolff in transition, Couples on the downswing). In your practice swing you do it on the backswing so the club is slightly laid off. Perfect. When you hit the ball, with a fuller swing, you "unrotate" at the top then have to rotate back on the downswing, possibly leading to inconsistency. A small movement, quite technical, but worth a look. Difficult to teach this, but in my opinion, all top players rotate (except Rahm and DJ), young kids learn it naturally.

Are you saying left foot right elbow?

Hi Steve, love your instruction videos which are very practical and superbly demonstrated by you. But can I make a suggestion to help us left handed golfers 🤔 instead of referring to left or right, I think it would be more helpful if you could use terms such as the “lead side” and “trail side” in the swing. The lead side referring to the left side for right handed golfers and right side for us lefties, and consequently the trail side referring to the right for right handed golfers and the left side for us lefties. Does that make sense.?

Just goes to show that Harvey , and I am sure people before him, had this down decades ago. This move isl explained in his Little Red Book in 1 sentence. The golf swing is simple, but made to be difficult by many so called teaching pros. I am sure Harvey explained to Ben how to swing a club at a very young age , but said get your butt to the putting green to become a Majors/U.S. Open Champ! and Ben listened to Harvey.

Steve, I’m 75 , and this old dog has been trying to learn a new trick with your Eureka swing. I really like the feel of it, but my miss is a nasty pull hook. Could this be the piece of the puzzle that I’m missing? If my hands and right elbow are going out instead of down, would that cause the pull hook? Thanks...
@alanduncan92044 жыл бұрын
I tried this Eureka. First hit with a 7 iron was straight punch about 15 yds less than I normally hit. Next was a massive hook, 3rd and last was a shank... its not for me. I manage fine with the Moe Norman single plane. I never hook or slice with that style.
@ralphsomack711010 ай бұрын
Steve: compared to Ben Hogan do you take your club back on a plane steeper than his?
@A-FrameWedge3 жыл бұрын
You think your hands should go straight down but the hands should be moving down to a a place somewhere between your feet and the ball, Hogan and Snead both did this as do a lot of the best ball strikers and actually helps to flatten the shaft on the downswing.
