I've been golfing for 30 years and I just discovered the secret to excellent ball striking by watching you swing Gen. This entire time I've been a wag the club behind the ball kind of guy but clearly I need to switch to the club twirl prior to every swing.

@per_growth4 жыл бұрын
Your chipping is exceptional - for me, this is what separates a 5hcap vs a scratch player (and putting). The first hole is a good example - missed the green and you had a 10yard uphill chip and still saved par. I wish you would make a video on how you chip. How do you decide where to land it. How do you play different lies. How do you decide which club to use? That would be very informative for your viewers of all handicap levels. more power to you Gen!

Excellent video, very clear and informative. Good camera positioning and shot tracer. When you have more budget, ask a friend to film closer to the fairways and greens at a safe distance in order to complete the video angles/coverage (in addition to the player shots). But still excellent! (I've played The Gulf Club Datai Bay (Langkawi), but hope to explore more courses)

Course management "talk throughs" like this are excellent, many thanks. Have you seen Scott Fawcett and his Decade course management system? He gives a data driven view of course management. Do you use a shot tracking device like Arcos??
@per_growth4 жыл бұрын
Your comment on 4-5 footers - VERY TRUE! For me, it all works backwards. Here's an example: Scenario 1: my chipping/putting isn't on point. I feel I HAVE TO hit the green in regulation to give me two putts. This puts a lot of pressure on my approach shot (hit the green!). Which in turn puts a lot of pressure on my drive (hit the fairway!) Scenario 2: chipping/putting is really easy that day: There is no pressure to hit the green since I know my chances of getting up and down are good. No pressure on the drives - because even if i miss my approach (because Im in the rough) - i will still give myself a good chance for par. Those 4-5 footers are extremely critical.

Gen, not sure if you are a fan of giving out tips on You Tube, but do you have any advice on hitting 3 wood off the deck? You seem to flush it every time. I've had PGA professionals here in the states tell me that I got a good swing, but when I have that club in my hands in fairway, I can't relax and I feel I have to swing hard. Thoughts?

Good Video again. I notice you clean the club after practice strokes with your shoe spikes....you carry a range finder and sometimes an extra club to the ball - maybe you should also carry a cloth to clean the grooves. It would do a better job and less damage/scratches to the club face. Sorry to be like a nagging parent :) but any grit, mud or grass blade could mean all the difference to a shot. BTW since watching your video clips my game has improved, I shoot mid 70's down from mid 80's all due to following your game paln and attitude, cheers.
