A simple round of golf with more relatable distances than the PGA Tour. We play the TPC Kuala Lumpur and Gen takes us around the course at a distance we can understand. it's not 7,400 yards of US Open turf. It's a championship course and Gen plays it ego free, like a baus.

The pre-shot routine is amazing. It must be a routine that gets you in the zone for the shot. it CANNOT be a mechanic. If it's a mechanic, you're done. You need to be consistent and you need to practice it. You don't need to be as specific as Gen, but you can definitely improve this area o your game.

All these great golfers have one thing in common - they all have such easy, smooth swings. My mind struggles to accept that an easy swing can move the ball further than an aggressive one, but there's no end to the evidence for it.

Practice hitting something like a 6 iron 9 iron distance over and over by using a slower tempo and swing speed and you'll finally get that feeling. Then you can keep the easy tempo while increasing the speed and lag to get the full 6 iron distance.

I would say that what they have in common is great ball contact and a balanced finish. Not all golfers are smooth or slow, some are fast and jerky - just look at Nick Price videos, he is very fast, but always in balance. There is just no way to be consistent if you are moving all over the place, you have to stay steady. If swinging slower gets that done for you, that is a great choice.

Greg there are two reasons for it. First, by having very little tension in your swing you will pick up club head speed. The second reason is when you swing relaxed and smooth you are more often likely to find The Sweet spot.

God the difference between your average Joe and the pros in the short game is just insane to watch. Never leaves herself anything over 8 feet for putts, automatic for anything inside 7 feet. Even her long par/birdie putts are never outside of 1-2 feet to give her that easy tap in while the rest of us are still sweating those 3-5 footers we let get away from us. Pre-shot routine is always important. Keeps good tempo and positive thoughts flowing. I have practically the same routine as her including the one club twirl as I walk up to address the ball too.

Marque Markofthebeast and we all know how he did as a golfer. So many people looking at superfluous stuff like deshambo smashing it (which I LOVE - no hate at all) which no weekend golfer is gonna be able to emulate, but there are so many many many variables that make good golfers good. Most of the achievable things for amateurs are never talked about that could improve their game infinitely

Almost winter here in Canada and I'm so sad about it. This year I've improved so much and want to keep it going. Next season is going to be all about the short game within 100 yards and around the green because my up and down percentage is always mid teens to low 20%. I've been figuring I can save minimum 6 strokes per round by just getting up and down around 40% of the time. That's so huge and it shows how necessary it is by Gen's performance here.
@creepintrex

It's interesting to see the thought process and see someone take a shorter club only to use a longer one on the second shot. Most people wouldn't think to do that but when it comes to taking danger out of play with your tee shot to save you strokes on that end it makes a ton of sense. The pro perspective on lies is insane!
