Eric does such a good job communicating what he’s teaching. Where your body is, how it should feel and why it works. When he explains things, you never have to say, “what does he mean by that”? Great job Eric!

Man this tip is killer!! I went to the range today and tried it out and it’s amazing how flush I was hitting the ball and compressing the ball. I’m 6 foot six and my miss is generally either an early extension or coming up out of it a little bit and hitting it a little thin although I do get a lot of quality shots. This drill completely changed my ball striking!!! It’s a great feel to focus on, thank you!!!😎👍⛳️

One of the best insights provided by Eric. Hi presentation of he info clicked with me just like all the others and allow me to see things like trhis one I was overlooking. The issue here is we wamnt to see the shot, we think we are watching golf like on TV seeing the tracer from impact through flight and then the final roll out. The best we will see once you understand it is the ball approaching its apex. TY dude! by the way your tips have improved my game all built on your one piece take away. All the best.

Eric, first off thanks so much for all the detail you put in your videos. You are by far my favorite instructor. Now my question... how do you transition to straight arm and upward flex from here that you teach in your other videos? I find it hard to combine these two distinct swing thoughts (cover ball and right arm bent vs upward extension and straight arms through the swing).

I think this problem can also stem from a lot of people hitting it fat. I used to slice and come too steep so the idea of coming down lower used to scare me. But then I built a habit of staying too tall and extending. Gonna try this out!
Haven't tried this yet but considering I could early extend a chip, pitch, full swing, half swing - heck I'd early extend a putter if it was possible - this video and drill could be a game changer!

With the arm bent and right wrist bent, how do I close the clubface? Won't ball fly directly right off the face? Do I need to incorporate a "flattening" of the left wrist?

Really nice advice, I instantely got some really nice ball strikes by using the bent wrist and right arm advice! One related question. For me the bending of the wrist causes more of a closed clubface, which leads to quite big hooks. How do I offset that?
@CogornoGolf2 жыл бұрын
Hey Markus....several options 1. Point face more right at setup 2. Close face less in backswing 3. Close face less in downswing to the ball 4. Close face less through impact 5. Get handle more forward at impact 6. Weaken grip By close face less that would be less arm rotation mainly (lead arm supination and trail arm pronation)

Eric, great drill and I'm sure this answer is on your videos but my question is, in your "minds eye" where is the swing and movements going AFTER impact. I feel like I get a good strike but when I'm not flipping and throwing my arms at the ball, it seems I stall after impact. Is it the pushing of the lead leg that get's you through, up and around with your arms turning over naturally?

Great video lesson Eric, but one thing you didn’t mention is that by lowering your chest, you effectively move it slightly more over the ball. That creates a weight shift to the toes. If your weight goes to your toes you will instinctively stand up on it (early extension) to counter the out of balance position. The correction is that the hips must move back slightly to remain in balance. With the weight on the toes, it is difficult to turn through the shot. Heavy people really struggle with this because most of their weight is above the hips. I especially struggle with it. The drill is excellent because it can help to work on balance as you perform it.

Hi Eric-- Maybe you can help me? When I set up over and cover the ball with the split grip you mention -that works But when then I bring my hands together and try to hit the ball from that same address position, I find myself way too close to the ball to attempt to hit the ball. I can only hit the ball with a normal grip in the bent over position (arms and shoulder closer) if the ball is a few inches further away from me. Either I move my address position back a few inches from my address position (with a split grip) or move the ball away more because if I do not do either, I can not hit the ball with a normal grip because i am way too close to the ball. Hope I am not confusing you.
