Good Morning Chad, this may be the best video I have seen from you in the 4+ years I have been following you. Making us realize that there are just a few fundamentals in the golf swing is huge. There are many different ways to achieve those basics but each golfer must find that for themselves. It was emotional for me to hear about your wife's health issues. We all see that happening to other people but we think it will not happen to us. It can happen to any family at any time. My thoughts and prayers will be with her. You will always be my number one source for golf instruction. You have helped me a lot over the years and I look forward to your future presentations. Gary Chunn Orlando

Yep, I think I’ve been taken in by the huge hip turn on the backswing over the years. What they don’t tell you is that you’ve got to have super fast hips (or great timing and x-factor flexibility) to reel all that turn back in and get the hips open prior to impact so the arms have room to work down from the inside. I like the three things you’re working on. Very similar to what I’m concentrating on after 35+ years of study. My best to you and your family!

Absolutely. Each person is different, and my hips are clearly not quick, or particularly flexible.

Good luck on your journey Chad. I just started back doing the STS method and already seeing far better results than other methods. Especially the 30day boot camp. And he still posts on his Instagram regarding the swing. I think he reached a point where he said everything he needed on KZbin. But as you point out some methods match players based on their natural tendencies.

Yeah, at a certain point, you've kind of said all you needed to say. Their are little nuances and bits here and there as time passes, but you start to just rehash everything you've already put out there.

What you describe in the “square to square” method is what I created for me about a year ago. I started hitting much better, and did exactly you feel. 3 to 9 in the swing at full speed. Mostly in front of me, a vertical swing remembering to focus on the follow through being like a photo.

Square to Square is beautiful in its simplicity and design. Love the thoughts, and it's more about the club than the body, which are my thoughts exactly.

Sorry to hear about your wife but happy the surgery was successful and still praying for you guys. My father's 4rth and current wife (don't ask 🙂) had a tumor excised from her breast and then had some radiation and chemo and is still happy and healthy 20 years later and even reportedly looks good in a bikini at 67 so hopefully that's encouraging. Yeah, the fundamental thing is a bit of a moving target for sure. One thing that I've been paying attention to lately, and this assumes a standard set of body parts in reasonably good working order, is that all really good ball strikers return quite closely to their address spine angles (as seen DTL) with the shoulders closed to the target line just before releasing the club into impact. It can look different in other areas depending on their rotation and foot movement but the spine angle thing is a constant. This means that you can draw a line from DTL at address and the same line will represent their spine angles very closely at about shaft parallel on the way down. I can't remember ever seeing an exceptiion to this in a really good or great swing. And it makes sense because acceleration around the spine angle will naturally make for built-in power and consistency especially given that the swing involves various bends and tilts into and beyond impact. Obviously you have to also have a good impact spine angle as well but from what I've seen having the right spine angle at shaft parallel in the downswing tends to make it much harder to get far off of a good impact spine angle. The only caveat to this is that from FO, the hips need to have moved at least 4 inches toward the target in almost all cases for good impact. However, I was amazed having examined thousands of swings that Hovland has NO targetward hip movement for many of his shots, this being because he is so vertical in his general backswing motion and stays so over the ball. Thus the hip motion thing is not an absolute but close to it. Glad to see you swinging well and interesting video. Cheers.

Thanks a bunch for the well wishes. I'll tell you that my wife didn't have breast cancer, but that is so predominate today, that it's just a plague. Yeah, keeping your spine in its DTL orientation is a great way to eliminate inconsistency. Changing it and striking the ball well CAN be done, but it takes a great deal of timing and athleticism, and can still lead to streaky ball striking. Actually, some of the modern, and younger, players increase spine tilt coming into impact. But again, crazy athletes.
@timothypollock8358
@timothypollock8358 11 ай бұрын
@@GolfTestDummy Yeah, you can inrease your spine angle and do really well although some great flexibility is almost always required for that but going the other way is pretty much a killer for really great ball striking. Cheers.

Best wishes to your family. I agree with everything you are saying. Keep it simple. Im literally having the same swing methodology as you. Came to realize…there really isn’t a “swing”, there is your method of hitting ball than turf on the sweet spot. Nothing else matters. The “swing” isn’t responsible for that, it is a simply a reflection of your intentions…if that makes any sense.
@GolfTestDummy
@GolfTestDummy 11 ай бұрын
It makes PERFECT sense. It's what A J Bonar spoke about. It's what Sam Goulden is eluding to. It's even what Jim Venetos is saying in a more indirect way. The backswing is created by how your body understands to get itself into a position to strike the ball correctly. The downswing is created by the transition from that backswing to deliver that strike. And follow through is the byproduct of the impact and your intention through it.

Thanks, Michael. I do think that any good golf needs to start with someone that has decent coordination and "semi-athletic" ability. If you can't throw a ball or a Frisbee, etc, you're likely going to struggle with golf.

First off, my prayers go out to you, your wife and family, may she fully recover and live a long, happy and healthy life. Chad, agree with you 100% regarding the fundamentals, probably the reason Tiger Woods said recently that golfers should stop watching YT and go hit balls. Golfers should not get their lessons or tips from YT. Each of us swings differently and an instructor needs to be able see your swing in 3D, not 2D. Tips from YT or any other place doesn’t really fix whatever flaw you may have, at least, not permanently. Besides, one person says do one thing and another says to do the complete opposite, who do you believe? Your mind gets so full 50,0000 of these tips, tricks, secrets, magic moves, etc. that you end up paralyzed and your golf swing suffers. Learn how to get the fundamentals down or get an in person teacher to help you get the fundamentals down. How you get there or what it’s called is irrelevant, so long as you get there. Excellent video. Cheers.

Chad The medical setbacks with you and your wife is in Gods hands and a prayer chain from us all he will hear … join in fellow followers of Chads channel for this lady and Chad What you said today is so true but some may not agree with the meat of it but I do I’m using the split hand or baseball grip and have found it more comfortable with my hands … using the JumboMax grips maybe the reason but still it’s unorthodox to the main steam guys but … it works for me Finding the low point is important but it’s up to us to find the spot Keeping the face looking at the ball … yes yes yes !!! Stop the open face madness Less movement with the body as you shown today is spot on … again it woks for me also We who play this amazing challenging game called golf are on a journey for a life time to get better at our enjoyment and it’s not rolling up to the course and getting onto the playground with out our time finding what works for us and the only way to find that secret is in the dirt from practice Your a good man Chad with your videos of your journey showing us all the ups and downs trying to find the swing for you and I thank you for that It’s not easy to come up with new ideas when hosting a KZbin channel and I give you a tip of the hat for your efforts and I know what the effort you do put into it feels like May God touch your wife with healing that she needs and the strength for you by her side and for your great KZbin channel

Thank you my friend. I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers for Polly. I've used the split grip too, and it's fantastic. I know it slows clubhead speed down by reducing the length of the lever, but the control you gain, especially with most amateurs, is much more important to score well and play consistently.

Chad most importantly best wishes for the health of your family. Regarding your videos, just a suggestion. Why not find a partner or multiple partners to test out golf methods. You can sort of “oversee” their progress and provide commentary. You could even have them try the same methods you’ve already reviewed and then compare notes and results. Just an idea…
